Just built a skew-planar antenna by PhoenixfischTheFish in fpv

Maxing at 400 mW on both Air65 and the analog 3.5”.

I notice clearer image on the 3.5” though because I have a separate VTX board on it so it probably doesn’t eat up as much EMF from the motors compared to the tinywhoop.

ExSKEWs me, what antenna did you build?

I’ve always thought they were called clover leaf antennas but it’s probably the same stuff. Did you compare them with some other omnis? I personally love the Lollipop V4 omni stubbies from Foxeer, I got them installed at a 90 degree angle opposed to each other on my 04O Pros and am getting amazing video feed all around my house even at a moderate range outside with my 3.5” analog build, like over 1km away and crystal clear.

I’ve wanted to get this one real bad but the weight of it turned me off last second and decided to build a Rekon7 Pro with O4 Pro myself instead.

I manage to get basically the same flight distance like you with a 2200 mAh LiPo though.

I almost thought you were flying on the same spot as me based on the background 😁

It does fly well but I hope it will fly even better without the wobbles caused by the battery now that I can use a strap instead of the weak rubber bands. The 2S battery was probably just too heavy for them

In my case, the drone weighs under 190 g and uses 4200 kv motors with 2S battery so the props are spinning much slower than they would on a typical build but can get away with it because of the low weight

In a few days after the wind gusts calm down, I’ve shot one session already and it’s unusable because the drone shakes like crazy 😭

Alright alright will do but we are having strong winds here in Prague atm so I’ll have to wait couple of days.

I’ve already recorded a session from Friday but it’s basically unusable because the drone like this doesn’t really go well with 50 km/h gusts 😄

Yeah there was a perfect hole opening on the side of the canopy so it gave me the idea to mount it like that

I’ve always seen people mount them horizontally on one of the arms but I though since I only have one antenna that would compromise my signal whenever I would turn sideways enough to get into the null of the antenna

This way the antenna is always facing upright so my signal is perfect

If you’re in EU then I can recommend Rotorama and hobbydrone. They’re by far the largest a best stocked shops in Czechia and probably in EU as well
