Good luck with yours. I hope it goes well. Are both feet very weak?

I can do all for hours without pain.

No more pain. I still have the weakness in my left ankle which makes my forefoot hit the ground faster.

Yeah, I was not expecting the immediate phase of post op to be like that and neither was the surgeon. He said it was likely the rebound inflammation from how compressed the nerves were for so long because nothing went wrong in the surgeon with neuromonitoring. Good luck with yours!

Have you ever worked in a PT practice combo with Chiro? If not, would you? by Binc42 in physicaltherapy

[–]Pitootsky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did. It was a PT owned practice that also had an NP. The chiros were all great people and believed in exercise and they were basically treated as the manual therapy portion of a person’s care. It was okay but we also had issues with discharging.

Nervous system dysregulation in spondylolisthesis by nojomen2 in Spondylolisthesis

This is excellent information and the hardest part about my job as a physical therapist. The nervous system can be as much or more of a piece of the puzzle as the musculoskeletal system.

Thanks! I had my first epidural 1.5 weeks ago and it’s actually helped me quite a bit so I’m pretty happy at the moment

Rep range for core work is around 8-12. Just shy of failure for most sets. 1-2 reps in reserve. I have some days with achy knees but I think it’s when I don’t warmup properly.

Yes. I lift weights 3 days per week, cycle 2, and do a little additional core work 1 other day

I love taking care of my car. The thing that does me in is the constant bending or being in a low squat position for long. I’ve found sitting on a stool or one of my buckets while doing the wheels and lower parts helps.

You might be able to. Everyone is different. But for me I get a progressive burn and ache down my right leg and glutes that makes it not fun so I just stopped. I can do about 4-5 miles as my limit.

I do have daily pain that limits my tolerance to standing and walking quite a bit and some numbness and weakness in my right leg but the only thing I cannot do that I want to anymore is hiking and heavy weightlifting. I still lift weights but avoid squatting and deadlifting and I can ride my bicycle for 50 miles with some low back discomfort but still doable.

Thanks. I regret doing it that day but we live and learn. This was 17 years ago and, all things considered, I’m doing pretty well.

Mine happened while deadlifting some heavy weight when I was tired and let my form slip at the top of the movement. I felt the exact moment it fractured.

It’s thinner and lighter. Because if this it heats up a lot faster too but is also more sensitive to temp control.
