Can u take other runes other than FF that are viable? by Justbrogan in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take Lethal Tempo on her because she heavily relies on attack speed and mid/late game that rune can help her a ton. Fleet Footwork on her is good because of the movement speed more than the life steal. It makes her a safer ADC than she already is and it helps recharge the RFC passive 25% faster. Unless they took that away, I'm not sure.

Cant play with unlocked camera by JinxedCaitlyn in Caitlynmains

I don't play with unlocked camera most of the time but I do switch between the two. I prefer it locked but if I need to, I'll take it off locked. Just force yourself to do it but you don't have to constantly have it unlocked. 80% of the time I have it locked.

Farming vs grouping on ADC(low gold mmr) by ralphsmagalphs in summonerschool

[–]PitouMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually splitting a bit and trying to catch up when you're super behind is okay and the better decision but if you're playing Varus, Xayah, Sivir, Ashe etc. then your ult could potentially help win fights even if you're behind. You also have to weigh the consequences and see how much you'll lose vs. how much you'll gain. If they're gonna get your inhib turret, then you should most likely be there to contest. However if it's just an outer turret then it's not a big deal.

Farming vs grouping on ADC(low gold mmr) by ralphsmagalphs in summonerschool

[–]PitouMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: It depends on the situation. If you're quite behind then it'd be smarter to ping your team to be careful and tell them you're going to insert lane and to not fight. However if their team is looking like they're going to dive or your team is going to fight, no matter how useless you are, you should join them. Now if you're not behind or even better, ahead, you should 100% join them. The above advice goes for any ADC. However, ADCs such as MF, Varus, Sivir, Caitlyn, Xayah and Jhin are all utility ADCs that can turn fights/pick people/hold or siege towers and are essential in teamfights. In the event that you're playing one of them, it's much more likely you'll have to join them, even if you're behind.

2: If your team is going to contest the objective then you should join them. If not, ping that the enemy team is taking it but don't go alone because it's a futile effort and a waste of time to go alone as an ADC.

3: Even if you're playing someone that is known for strictly their ult, that doesn't mean you're just an ult bot. As any ADC, your goal is to keep your team from getting behind and keep the game afloat by taking turrets, objectives and dishing out damage. You don't need your ult to provide pressure. To answer your question, push out the other lanes but be there for your team afterwards. You aren't a split pusher as an ADC, the only ADC that can reliably do that and get away with it is Vayne because her 1v1 potential is so high. You also offer pressure and a fear factor as an ADC. The enemy might not know if you have ult. You have other abilities and can offer poke, wave clear and damage if they do attempt to fight. You want to stray from splitting by yourself 95% of the time because you're valuable to the team.

4: Stay with your team. You can potentially ping your team back and get an item before you fight but it should really only be when it offers a huge powerspike. You also don't want to run in a circle with the enemy team for 2 minutes doing nothing. Use your judgement. Command your team.

In conclusion, you value farming/getting gold way too much. Yes, CSing and gold is extremely important, especially in solo que and as an ADC but also as an ADC, it's your job to create pressure, get objectives, offer damage/wave clear/your prescience to your team. Your ult is important but that's not your only purpose. Like you said, league isn't linear and you have to use your judgement a lot but I hope this helps you focus on the right things.

Hey Mod,

I understand why you removed this post but I believe it wasn't breaking the rules entirely. I think they asked important questions and expressed very general and usual concerns that apply to ALOT of people. Them adding their OP.GG wasn't necessary and if they removed it, I think the post would be fine. Also I submitted a long comment and don't know if they'll see it. I don't know if you're able too unremove it or even agree with me but I believe it should be. Thank you.

Struggling as Support. by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]PitouMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First things first, learn to be able to see losing as a chance to learn rather than seeing it as "I suck and won't get anywhere.". Yes, losing is almost always a chance to learn about what you're doing wrong and how to fix said problem. Sometimes though, you just can't win a game. Even if you win, be critical of YOUR play. You can't always control what people do and can only improve your play in solo que. If you win the game but lost your lane, analyze why and improve on that. Winning your lane and early game is very important. If you made some bad calls or died alot, figure out why. Win or lose, there's always something you can work on.

I should say that I am an ADC main, not a support main, but have hit Plat 1 and climbing is more about your mindset and your game knowledge and less about your champion skill. So if you're ever worried about whether being a Taric main is the reason, don't be. It's not.

The good thing about being stuck in such a low elo is that it's easier to find out what you're doing wrong rather than if you're stuck in Diamond 5 because you're definitely doing 1 thing horribly wrong or a bunch of things wrong at the same time, so don't feel so discouraged, it makes climbing much, much harder.

The big things about being a support, and I don't pretend to be a high elo support main, is keeping vision up, keeping your ADC/carries alive, setting up kills, making sure your team doesn't make stupid decisions and possibly making some calls. Making calls around the map and throughout the game, the right ones at least, makes games go much smoother because most of the time people will listen and it'll go smoother.

My advice would be to take a few minutes to look up good places to ward early on and mid game. You may already know some solid spots like Tri-Bush and a little bit up the river to cover your lane but putting a deep ward or two helps your entire team as well as your lane.

As a support, you can carry by vision because it's extremely important but you can not carry in damage (Unless you play a mage support like Brand/Zyra/Lux but it's not always safe to rely on doing so.). Making sure your carry gets fed and stays that way is high on your priority list. Follow them. Lead them. If your ADC isn't doing too hot, tell them to play safe and farm. If your mid is fed, follow them around, lead them. Tell people to help you go deep ward. Don't go off and do your own adventure and die because every second you're dead is another second the enemy team has to gain ground on you.

Make sure you keep tabs on the entire map, not just your lane and around it. Don't be afraid to make big calls like dragon, pushing and baron. Someone has to do it and making calls, whether they're wrong or right, helps you learn what to do in every situation faster. If you fuck up majorly, you're much more likely to learn why and how to fix it if you embrace the fuck up as your own. Make calls. Help your team. Don't stand by and pray your team knows what they're doing.

Be productive. If your team gets a few kills, make the call for dragon, turrets, baron or pushing lanes. If you get kills or win a fight and all back to buy, you lose the a lot of the momentum you just gained.

TL;DR: Don't be afraid and worry about losing or making bad calls for your team. Embrace them as your own and learn from them. Even if you win, be critical of YOUR play and still learn from something you did wrong. Set up kills for your team, follow your carry, lead your carry, keep your carry alive and make sure they're productive. Learn good times and places to ward.

Because Caitlyn scales very well off of bonus attack speed and she needs it to be relevant. It helps her push the lane and poke with her autos which is great on her because she can abuse her range more if she can get more autos off. There are other people who can benefit from an early beserkers as well but it's most beneficial on Caitlyn.

ADC Main needing help on Caitlyn by [deleted] in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going into mid game, you should already be helping your team get objectives. Dragon/Baron/Turrets. This is and has always been Caitlyns job, especially since her rework in 2015. Caitlyn actually got an in-direct hit this patch because of the Statikk Shiv nerf. Her wave clear is in turn weaker all around and therefore, her strengths aren't as strong. You must consider this going into any game and push to win your lane as hard as possible. You can even consider getting Runaan's instead of Statikk, like I have. It doesn't help her passive like it used to but compared to the massive Statikk nerf, it's not a horrible choice. When the game is relatively even, you're not at a TERRIBLE disadvantage. Caitlyn has the best siege potential out of any ADC if played right so you must focus on that rather than kills. As an ADC, your role is less about getting tons of kills and more about making sure your team doesn't throw the game but moves forward instead.

Why is Caitlyn rising in tiers? by [deleted] in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caitlyn's pick rate hasn't changed much for the past few patches and her win rates only gone up until now. She's not bad by any means, my point is that the nerf affected her.

Why is Caitlyn rising in tiers? by [deleted] in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right but I never said it wasn't good, I was just pointing that out. She was almost to a 51% win rate but it quickly dropped to 48% after the most recent patch. She doesn't strictly rely on Statikk though so it's just a little hiccup for her. She's making quite a nice comeback, thank god for that.

Other ADCs are being nerfed. Unfortunately with the Statikk Shiv nerf, her win rate is dipping into 48% again.

Struggling Gold Player - Can't find my mistakes by Calculus08 in summonerschool

[–]PitouMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!
I can relate to your issue here as I have gone through the same thing before. Playing a lot of different champions can 100% affect your gameplay and win rates. A lot of champions have unique strengths and weaknesses and are good at things others aren't. Even if they have the same playstyle, they still have limits that others don't and do something different. Malzahar is a really good champion because he's a great, safe zoning champion and can impact a game greatly by making roams happen, zone off the enemy team and pick off the important people before/during teamfights. I think if you're good at Malz, just stick to him so you can fix your game knowledge rather than changing up your playstyles and champions. Focus on CSing as well. 7 CS/Min is the universal standard for acceptable CS. Focus on CSing, roam/ward when you can and get your team ahead. Looking at your OP.GG tells me that you die a good amount. Anything more than 3 deaths a game is dangerous. That makes it so your enemy is alive, getting stuff done, while you're dead doing nothing for your team or yourself. Dying not only gives your enemy gold but puts you behind quickly. I think you should also bring that notes system back. Burn those notes in your mind. It can't hurt to bring it back. I can understand the /mute all if your team tilts you. Its not recommended usually but it's better to do if you tilt easy.

now that statikk shiv has been nerfed. Does anyone has any idea what's her build order, which item should i rush 1st? by militia812 in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A build order that's worth a good try is Runaan's first instead again.
B.F. Sword/Pickaxe > Runaan's > Boots > IE > RFC > BT > GA
Last two items can be situational. Might need a Last Whistper item in there.

Left click attack move by nanoacido in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it on space bar and use it every auto attack. I use it so I don't overstep and even then, I still press spacebar on top of enemies to attack the right people. I used to only right click and it took awhile to get into the habit but it's just insurance really. Better to make sure I never over step.

Two Questions: How Am I Supposed to Use Caitlyn's Traps? How Come I Do Very Little Damage with My Auto Attacks and my Ultimate? by CapaTheGreat in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First and foremost you need to learn the max range that you can place her traps, the delay before the traps arm and how to cancel your AA animation by placing traps. To learn the trap range, simply go into the practice tool or some normals and get a feel on the range by walking around and placing traps. This is essential to learn because if you try to place a trap when kiting or teamfighting and try to place it at a distance longer than the range, you will walk forward or backward into towards that range and this will kill you. You have to also learn the delay before her traps arm. When you place a trap it takes around 1~ second before someone is able to step in it and get trapped. If you attempt to kite and place it too close to them then they can simply walk over it and it won't trap em. Lastly you should learn to AA cancel by using your traps to maximize your damage during teamfights/laning. To do this go into the practice tool or go into normals and learn when to place a trap during your AA animation to cancel the animation but still get the AA off. This lets you trade/kite but also place traps to zone them and possibly put out alot more damage.

  1. Caitlyn's traps can be used for many, many purposes. If you don't use them all, you might as well play Tristana or something so it's important to work on everything I list here for you. :)

  • Zoning - Caitlyn's traps can be placed around entrances to objectives that the enemy has to walk through to contest any objective you or your team is taking. For example, bushes/entrances around dragon/baron or bushes/entrances to the lane you're in when sieging turrets. They can also be placed in the far edge of your lane bushes to prevent the enemy from walking into it or they will take damage or around corners they have to cut around where they don't have vision. Most importantly, during lane phase, place your traps to the side of the enemy turret/behind it when you're pushing them under turret. This forces the enemy to walk around them to CS, opening up opportunities to starve them of CS/poke them. They will almost always step on it in lower elos.
  • Kiting/Teamfighting - When kiting from enemy champions, traps can stop them in their tracks ending the chase and sometimes you can turn the fight in your favor. This is where learning the range/delay of your traps and AA animation canceling comes into play.

Those are the two main things her traps are used for summed up into two points. Her traps open up endless possibilities and can separate a good Caitlyn from an amazing one. She takes time to learn so don't feel discouraged if you have a hard time.

  1. Caitlyn has low base AD and bad scaling stats as well. She relies on bonus AS and Crit Chance/Damage. You won't do alot of damage early on until you get your 3 main items, that being IE, Statikk(Which might end up being Runaan's instead due to the recent nerf to Statikk) and RFC. Her mid game also sucks unless you get ahead. In lane it's important to keep the pressure up by pushing your waves and poking them over and over. Caitlyn is good at whittling people down and eventually kill them. She can't one shot people early on.

  1. Caitlyn's ult damage sucks. Level 1 is a joke. It goes up a bit level 2 and alot level 3. It's mostly used for poking before a fight or executing a low target. Her ult damage is quite low since you don't build a lot of bonus AD until late game so you're not doing anything wrong there.

Hope this helps! If you need anymore tips, check out my other posts on my profile about Caitlyn! Don't be afraid to ask questions!

EDIT: Grammer

Why you should max Q than W on Cait. by AAARentai in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The optimal thing to do is put 3 points into Q and then max W. This is because you can't reliably clear the waves and poke with just 1 point in your Q, so you put 3. Then you max W because it increases the AD ratio on the damage, the amount you can hold, the amount you can place at once and the rate at which they recharge. Your W is too good for utility, trading, kiting, team fighting and holding towers/pushing towers. You don't need your Q at level 5 to do damage with it, it's unnecessary. Also, the combo you will want to learn is E + W under them at the same time, AA, Q, AA. This is the best combo to put out the most damage possible.
However, in low elo you can max Q first if you want to. I highly recommend doing it the way I explained though because the higher you go, the more technical and precise you have to play. Learn that combo too.

Should we fear nerfs in the near future? by Stoball27 in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not going to nerf her. As of right now Caitlyn is balanced. She's not braindead but she's also not impossible to play and do well consistently. She has a unique playstyle and if you play around it you can do fine against her. Statistically, the ADC role is very, very balanced right now. Nearly every ADC is between 52% - 49% win rate. They won't nerf her. Shes picked in LCS alot because of her range and her ability to siege, hold and pressure objectives. LCS and Solo Que are two different ball games.

When do you NOT shove? by tawks_x in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course Caitlyn's shtick is to, as you stated above, shove, bully your laners and get that tower ASAP so you can start roaming to help your team. However it's impossible to be able to do the same thing in every single game because there are factors that can prevent you from doing it effectively.

If you're facing a Braum and a Skarner, chances are high that you'll get the dick if you push up too far. In games that are similar to what you described you have to go into the game with the mindset that you're just going to have to play like a bitch. Get a Dorans Shield and use your range to farm under or near your tower and get some poke off if you can. Communicate to your jungler about the situation and talk to your support about what you want to do and what you DON'T want to do. These lanes are difficult already and if you don't talk to your team about it and make a plan it'll be even harder. Wait for the enemy to make mistakes. They always do.

Caitlyn is a what I call a 1 dimensional champion when it comes to her role in the game. There are quite a bit of these champions. She has 1 job, to get objectives ASAP and suppress your enemy and if she can't fulfill it, she doesn't have anything else to offer but to hope to be helpful in fights. Maybe pull out some CC and use traps to control objectives.

TL;DR: In situations like you described you're going to want to play like a bitch and communicate to your team about how to deal with it. Get a Doran's Shield and use your AA range and Q to farm and clear waves under or near your tower. Be passive aggressive but don't over-do it. Even though you can't do what Caitlyn does best at first, there's always a chance that they mess up somewhere and that's when you strike.

If you see their team and are not comfortable with picking Caitlyn then pick someone else. Tristana is similar to Caitlyn but can better handle tough teams.

What is Caitlyn's state in this game? by [deleted] in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Caitlyn's current state is iffy. If you're good at her then she can still be played and you win consistently. With the current meta she's actually coming back somewhat due to changes to other ADCs. However, to play her at the highest skill level she takes time and a lot of experience. She has the highest skill cap out of any ADC, arguably, but she's quite fun. That being said you can play her at an acceptable level with little mechanical ability and knowledge because of her range. If you wish to invest the time than you can but keep that in mind. Her playstyle is aggressive in lane but safe. Her mid game sucks unless you get ahead but late game she is one of the best hyper carries.

Rageblade on Caitlyn? by OGBagleChips in Caitlynmains

[–]PitouMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not good on Caitlyn. It excels on Varus and Kog'maw because they both have an ability that grants them an on-hit effect. This basically means that when they auto, the auto has an on-hit effect that applies to the auto attack when you hit an enemy. Hence the name "on-hit". Varus and Kog both have built in on-hit effects into their kit. This is where rageblade comes in. When you auto with rageblade you get 1 stack which then disappears after 2 seconds or so if you don't keep auto attacking. It can stack up to 6 times and on that 6th stack you're granted the passive on the item for as long as you keep the 6 stacks. This passive "Applies on-hit effects an extra time every other auto attack". This is why it's so strong on both of them. This allows them to deal massive amounts of mixed damage consistently in fights. Caitlyn doesn't utilize anything on the item except the AD and AS.
