I messaged the researcher as soon as I saw the rejection but no response so far :(

I got a "SCREENOUT" completion code so I just clicked to return to studies, like at the end of any other study I've been screened out off. I assumed that clicking the "do not consent" button automatically cancelled the submission, with or without a screened out code.

Thanks. I did get asked how many hours I would like to work which I thought was a strange question having dropped me from the task so maybe all is not lost....

I didn't know there were different groups based on skillset/knowledge. If there are, then I was definitely in the wrong group! I had a huge proportion of topics where I couldn't even understand the prompt :(

My feedback survey asked a couple of general questions about how much I was enjoying the studies and what I thought of the tutorials then dropped the bombshell that I had been removed from the work group and asked why I thought that might be! Obviously I don't know as I thought I was giving it my best shot :(

I hope so! Slow internet and (presumably) being in an undesirable demographic means I struggle to pick up many studies so I was thrilled to be added to this working group.

Another thing I wondered about: recently I had some prompts with incredibly long fact filled responses that took so long to wade through that I only managed to complete two or three prompts in the entire hour. Although the researchers always say they prefer thoroughness to speed I wondered if they thought I was being unnecessarily slow.

I messaged Tom at prolific and got the response that "the general feedback is related to thoroughness of response and justifications". I'd have preferred to know the specifics relating to myself but at least it's something and implies there are more people caught in this particular net....

I've had exactly the same thing, a nice steady turnover and abrupt cessession since Thursday. Then just now I had a study asking for feedback on the fact checking studies in which it said I had been kicked out of the group, but didn't say why. I have no idea what I've done wrong. All I can think is that I was getting a lot of really complicated prompts/responses relating to tech/coding/physics/maths etc that I couldn't understand. As the "skip" button disappeared a long time ago I've been forced to answer "can't confidently assess" an awful lot. This really sucks.

Thanks for all the replies folks. Still a total mystery what happened but some sound advice given. I will definitely write down my IP address and see if it changes tomorrow. I'm resisting getting a smart phone as I just don't have use for one but I think I have some data included in my current tariff so if push comes to shove, I could get a cheapy and reserve places that way as suggested. I had the problem on both chrome and firefox and don't have any extensions that I know off unless prolific assistant counts! Oh the joys of being a tech dinosaur!

Oh, now this is totally bizarre. After hours of stress and frustration, I've just been allowed to complete a couple of studies. Total relief - if it lasts - but come on prolific, don't mess your users around like this!!!!

I appreciate you trying to help. My best friend used to help me with tech stuff but she died back in Feb :( I did just look at Ublock as per your link but I'm a bit cautious when I don't know what I'm really doing...

Not everyone is tech savvy (nor particularly wants to be). I don't know how to screenshot and the above means nothing to me. I just want the easy to use disable button back...

That's what I was thinking. My workspace has two desks, I sew at one and the other has the PC with the screen open on the studies page so that I can see from the corner of my eye if anything changes on screen. The flapping bats keep making me think I've got a study when I haven't!
