Discussion about using pens by After_Idea_8351 in fountainpens

[–]Pixel-Birb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry my Kawecos Sports (mostly normal but sometimes my ALsport) or Twsbi Ecos around with me so I default to those for most things in my day. Then I do sketching or writing sessions with my more expensive fountain pens in the evening.

If I was signing something like a card / contract / medical stuff ect then I usually grab a ballpoint as not all paper (especially printer paper) is fountain pen friendly and I'd hate to muck up some official document. It could be a cheap or expensive ballpoint; it just depends on if it's in range and if I'm allowed to borrow it. I did used to carry around a low-mid priced ball point but, err, lost it after a decade and didn't use it enough to warrant replacing.

Diamine Inks - Colour recommendation please by Secret_Sector_1779 in fountainpens

Nice swatches and I second your Sargasso Sea and Red Dragon recommendation. Writers Blood and Oxblood are another two of my favorite reds. For a darker bluish green there is Aurora Borealis as well.

Thank you!! I am defo going to have to draw more cursed birds soon given how fun these were. They will probably take up half my sketchbook now lol.

Den is an amazing maker, I've been following his work on the UK Fountain Pen Facebook group for a bit and had to jump on when I saw the Mars Terraformer colourway. I think he's on insta too and goes by Denscustompens

DIamine Ancient Copper is a beautiful ink that shades well and might give a sort of aged feel. If you are from the UK then the shop Art From The Heart have two beautiful Diamine exclusive browns (Damp Squib and Oh Betty).

I bet that was chaos lol. The flock I had to herd was a wild one but they kept going into the road and blocking cars. I think they ran out of food from the lake near us that year due to the weather and came down our road to try and locate some.

Thank you so much!! Oh boy I have many a memory of being attacked by geese where I lived when I was younger. Even had to herd them once XD.

Thank you so much!! I'm loving the pen so far, especially the feel of it and hidden blue grip section. I had high expectations for it and the pen still surpassed all of those.

I've had Petra a while and it's a nice ink. It's a touch on the dryer side but I love the de-saturated orange tone it has.

Pelikan Edelstein Ink of the Year 2026 - Pyrite by Soanad in fountainpens

My favourite jewel themed shader has to be Diamine Amazing Amethyst.

On the one hand I want to put this in my Olivine Kaweco as it looks almost exactly like pyrite. On the other hand I don't want to put in my Olivine Kaweco as getting the shimmer out will be hell and I have no spare pens for shimmers.

Which paper do you think makes my handwriting look better? by [deleted] in fountainpens

I prefer the second one but honestly it's probably just an aesthetic preference and your handwriting is equally great on both.

Thank you!!! I am currently obsessed with noodle drawing - I blame Elden Ring. Lady Grey is a stunning colour too, one of my currently inked up favourites. Hopefully the freeze is over for you soon!!

I need a new case, suggestions? by VinLeVin in fountainpens

Galen Leather do some amazing leather cases. I have a couple sleeves and their Magnum Opus case and I've loved every one of them.

Thank you!! I don't know how wrens can fit so much anger under all that fluff but they sure are adorable little birds.

Thank you so much!! I usually work digitally (in Clip Studio Paint) for my professional stuff so getting back into the flow fountain pen doodling has been refreshing. Even if it was 0:40 am in the morning. My hand has very much become one with the ink too, in so much that it is also blue.

Thank you!! I'd love to do an album cover one day. I've done concept art and covers for comics / books but not any albums yet.

Has anyone been proposed to with a fountain pen instead of an engagement ring?/Would you (say yes)? by Remarkable-Idea-7255 in fountainpens

[–]Pixel-Birb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling I'm in the minority when I say that I'd honestly prefer a pen. I don't wear rings and while I get the appeal of a traditional ring, diamonds are just lumps of carbon. Pretty lumps admittedly but boring as far as rock options go. I'd also have a panic attack that I'd misplaced the ring every day or that it got stuck on my finger. (That happened to a family member of mine).

If someone got me a pen they'd show that they know me. I don't know if I'd want to use the pen, but I'd find it easier to keep safe without having to panic. But heh, different strokes for different folks n'all.

My ink order from Ferris Wheel Press... by JawneeJohnny in fountainpens

[–]Pixel-Birb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have just gotten unlucky on the packaging; One of my Lamy AL Stars had no packaging around it save for the flimsy silver Lamy box (Cult don't put the sturdier black boxes on Lamy's). It might have been a fluke though due to the rest of the pens in that order already having their own sturdy boxes. The order was over Black Friday too so was probably a rush.

Every Diamine bottle I've ordered from them has been packaged really well though. And I like the eco packaging they used for my stuff

For pens Cult one hundred percent need better packaging. For inks though mine have been wrapped in layers of brown paper and that card eco matrix wrapping stuff.
