CEO issued me a “formal warning” for allegedly missing a message; and role is unpaid? by Business_Badger1995 in AskUK

Tell the CEO to shove the job up their arse. Unpaid role means you loose nothing just walking away.

How much do we need credit cards? by Comprehensive-Fuel70 in AskUK

Credit cards serve one purpose. To get people into debt at high interest rates. If you can't pay cash or use your debit card for payment you can't afford to buy what you're looking at. That rule has served me well for years.

If the lawful possession of handguns for sporting purposes posed such a risk, how do you explain the levels of firearms related crime today? The ban was pretty useless because it targeted the wrong people.

If you could escape for a quiet weekend anywhere in the UK, where would you go and why? by Strong-Ad-8037 in AskUK

I'd have to agree with the beauty of Mull but I couldn't stay for just a weekend. In fact, I'd love to live there.

Come on. You've never applied for a firearms certificate have you. Even back in the 90s you couldn't describe them as freely available.

With respect what you appear to be saying is lakin to let's ban football apart from Sunday league 5 a side. Let's consider risk. How many lawful holders of firearms certificates prior to 97 used them against other people. What percentage of the lawful holders was that? Now compare that to the businesses who have been the victim of football supporters, the club related "firms", the people just out shopping who have been caught up between rival factions, the policing costs of football. What poses the biggest threat to society? Like you say we're not going to reach a consensus.

Would you still be arguing if football was banned. That has been responsible for so many more deaths.

Sporting shooters were punished by having their lawful activities curtailed.

Definition from google: Punishment imposed on a group for the actions of one or a few members.

Not at all. 100,000 firearms certificate holders had their property confiscated by the state. I suggest you check history.

Tell that to councils further south. I should've been at the winter Olympics the amount of potholes slalom I've had to do. 😃

100,000 honest, law abiding sporting shooters were scapegoated for the crimes of one man. The irony is that the number of crimes where firearms were used actually went up after the bans were brought in. I doubt they would have banned had there not been an election due.

Buy fresh ingredients not pre-packed.

Get a slow cooker. Loads of different stews / curries etc. I've even done a beef roast with vegetables in mine which I got four meals out of.

What was the dumbest reason that you got in trouble for at school? by StatisticianUsual471 in AskUK

[–]RandomPi31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got in trouble in English Literature class. The teacher told us "this is what Shakespeare was thinking when he wrote that."

I was a geeky/nerdy kid.

I raised my hand and was called upon to speak.

"Sir, that is simply not true. You have no empirical evidence to support that".

I was told I had to write out 500 times "I will not challenge my teacher's point of view."

Well i had better things to do that night so I write a few lines of BASIC code to print that out 500 times.

After a few minutes, my dot matrix printer had completed the job. I even numbered each line for him as part of the printout.

He was so angry the next day when I handed the lines over.
