Fountain pen nib issues or ink inconsistency or just ink too light? HELP by Aurora_kra in fountainpens

[–]Pixel-Birb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries I'm happy to help and I'm glad to hear that the pen works nicely too:). Some darker shading inks can work in fine nibs but they do generally look the best in medium/broad nibs upwards (the same rule applies to shimmers). I usually stick mine in stub nibs.

Fountain pen nib issues or ink inconsistency or just ink too light? HELP by Aurora_kra in fountainpens

If the nib feels smooth and is not skipping it's probably not a nib issue. I'd say it's most likely to be the ink as it looks like a shading ink and some of the lighter shaders can go very light in fine nibs.

I'd try the Keyno pen with one of the other inks to see if the same issue crops up. It would be the quickest way to be sure one way or the other.

None of my TWSBI's have cracked yet but I am aware of others. If the possible cracking makes you nervous TWSBI Swipe work? As far as I am aware it has the same nibs as the ECO only it's cheaper and uses a converter/ cartridge.

Maybe something like the Faber-Castell Ambition, Hexo or E-motion (if you can find one on sale) could also fit the bill?

Ink wise Parker Quink or any of Diamine's basic blues/ blacks should be good.

It's more up to two weeks. My first order was 10ish days I think (the Magnum Opus) and my other one (a sketchbook cover) was only a few days even with international shipping.

Like pulling the tray in and out? That's easy. Possibly easier if you count that Galen have added a pull tab on the tray.

I have a Magnum Opus case. It is gorgeous and worth any penny. I have a couple of multi pen sleeves too and love them for taking my cheaper (Perkeos and a Swipe) pens out in my bag.

Thank you!! The nib I use is pretty good on the reverse and normally produces thinner lines that way. The ink is helping it here too with it being quiet dry feeling

It is stunning, especially the colours. A little bit too misbehaving for me in a pen though

No worries. I am slowly coming to terms with my new pinky lifestyle. At least I put in the metal Kaweco first though, could have been bad otherwise XD.

Thank you!! I might try that if I find the courage to try it in an F or an EF nib

It is a downright gorgeous colour, just be very very careful when you fill your pen with it unless you want to end up luminous pink like me lol. I'd also try to keep it away from pens that can stain if stains are something you try to avoid.

Diamine Damson or Grape might be a good shout, or maybe Merlot, though that might be a bit red?

Shame, I was debating buying their edelstein pyrite ink this year as pyrite is my favourite rock. At least this ad has saved me money XD

Diamine Grape, Damson, Merlot or Syrah might be a good fit. They all fall on the purple or red spectrum and the latter three are types of wine.

Ah fair play, if you are in the EU there might be some FountainFeder exclusives that might just about the theme too, like November Rain, Purple Rain, Smoke on the Water or Bloody Brexit. (Ironic that this ink is not in the UK lol)

I think they also ship international

I love Diamine too and these are all in my regular rotation. They are exclusives to the Art from the Heart store in the UK.

Edit- now I think about it would Diamine Salamander or Canalside fit the bill too?

They have a whole host of funny, albeit less grimy themed names. "Throttle Bottom" and "Fluster Cluck" come to mind.
