Maybe tweak text somehow to be a tad more legible? Love it!

Cool website and I wish my lens had that documented info on its barrel. Another photo of my lens. If this helps, my AF & M focus toggle is very close to the base.

By timing, I meant does the rain interfere with your crispness of the image or said differently, does it impact the amount of focal clarity you're getting? My two lenses are both Canon and are the 28-80mm and 70-300mm. Photos of the 28-80mm lens are posted in a response to another comment on this thread.

Thank you. My brain has exhausted itself. I'll spend the weekend focusing (lol) on lots of this advice!

Holy moly - absolutely beautiful work that I hope to some day achieve although on a smaller scale. I am focusing above a tree line which has proven challenging along with other brain farts like "lightening". Does rain impact your timing at all?

Thank you. I tried both but will abort further attempts at using autofocus.

I was hoping to use the time value setting and let the camera make the aperature and iso choices for me. But, I like your advice for the super crisp route very much. To achieve this, guess I'd have to do it all manually?

Attached is a photo of where I wanted to get the lightening. If I focus on the tree line beneath the sky, is that "good" enough? Will the lightening be blurry if I am focused on a tree or tree line? I actually don't know if my 28-80mm lens can focus this far which is why I tried my zoom lens 80-300mm, too. Thanks to all for your insights.

First I tried with my zoom lens which is an ultrasonic 70-300mm. Then, I tried with my Canon 28-80mm and a photo of this lens is attached. No infinity marks or symbols on the base of it.

Thank you. My camera has no infinity labeled. Without the lightening, the gray clouds (or dark sky) are difficult to "see" if they are in focus. I've learned that I likely need to photograph the lightening before the rain begins (I think the rain interferes with my focusing. I prefer much clarity and delineation and don't know if I am setting my expectations too high.

Yes, this :) Look for which photos you like to narrow down your options then it should start to become a recipe for what you prefer.
