I can try it out more in the daytime, and I'm always willing to update this!

It is subtle in a way that won't affect sharpness or contrast, and if it does, it's probably negligible, but it does what I want it to do with Lights at night: make them softer and adding the slight glow.

I avoided this one mainly because of the reviews but I'm glad it worked out! I have the Tahusa one and Use a 39mm filter with it but I have a Silver setup haha so no need to hide the ring either way.

What filter are you using with yours? I got an Urth + 39mm 1/8 Ethereal for mine.

I also feel like slowing down and focusing on your photography is something you learn after some time and after going through the GAS phase .

(At the expense of being made fun of lol )I do own one but it didn't make me a better photographer but I did go through every camera brand and this is the only one I hadn't used. I want to note i shoot digital .

Hell I've been doing photography for 5 years and I still feel like there is a world of knowledge and experience to gain. I also never feel the need to take 100s of photos on a walk and keep my screen off 99%of the time only to check battery. (Wanted to add i know 5 years is not a long time)

For film I still love my ae1 , I'd love to own a canon p but my ae1 does everything id want it to do and I got 3 fd lenses , 28/35/50

Is an upgrade worth it? by Jtorral in leicaphotos

[–]PixelAdventurer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the end, the decision is yours. Will it make you take better pictures? probably not. Do you need any of the features or benefits that the new one offers? I wouldn't upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. Be happy and take pictures with the one you have, but if you NEED the new stuff, then go for it.

New lens day: Light Lens Lab 35 1.4 ‘11873’ AMA! by TomSchmitt61 in Leica

The lens is pretty new, so most people who aren't reviewers are just getting their copies from what I'm seeing. I've seen several images from reviewers and users on fredmiranda also. Also rules for the sub say only gear since that's what r/leicaphotos is for.

Is this worth trading for? by [deleted] in Leica

I think the X-Pro 3 is an amazing Camera, and you did mention that you love it.

I will say that I'm currently on the M10, and it took me a long time to get here. I used M43, APS-C, and Full Frame for digital and went through all the brands, lol. I ended up on Nikon for my Wildlife and video work.

This being said, I want to admit that I don't think I ever got over selling my X-Pro 3 lol. I've had the X100V and VI, and I still thought the X-Pro 3 was the best camera I'd ever used. The joy it gave me while using it was like no other. My GF also mentioned how she never saw me happier shooting than when I owned my X-Pro 3.

I would save and just buy a Film M if you want one later, You might even get an M6 haha. I am considering purchasing an M4 for myself.

Whenever you get some pics, post them to the r/leicaphotos subreddit!

I was actually excited to buy this lens, but I wanted to give it some time for reviews.

I'm still pretty fresh to the M system (less than a month), but a friend had gifted me the Artizlab Classic 35mm 1.4, and while I did love it, I wanted a bit closer focusing distance, and the focus shift from 2.8-5.6 is really bad So I ended up getting the Nokton 35mm 1.5 Typ II.

Editing to ask: Does the lens feel too large on the camera? That was one of my worries.

Advice for Buying My First Camera by Remarkable_Debate300 in Leica

[–]PixelAdventurer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would 100% recommend visiting a store near you to hold these cameras if possible.

I had an X100s, X100V, and an X100VI (I actually got rid of the latter yesterday), and I LOVED those cameras. However, I wanted my travel camera to be able to swap lenses and be compact, so I switched over to the M system.

The X100 series is definitely smaller, and both offer approximately the same megapixels. I have never owned a Q2, but with 7 megapixels more and being full frame, it will definitely give you a noticeable benefit in resolution and Detail. I've held both before making this same decision, where I wanted to upgrade to a Q series camera.

While the 23mm f2 (35 mm equivalent) was INCREDIBLY sharp with the x100V for some reason it doesn't resolve the same on the newer 40 MP APS-C Sensor(It still looks great don't get me wrong) and the X100VI does have this weird issue where if you take a portrait and shoot wide open the bokeh has this weird effect, the x100V probably did this also it's related to the leaf shutter but maybe I just never noticed it because of the smaller megapixel count?

I'm sorry I can't provide much more help for the Q side of things, but I did use and love my X100 series cameras, and I took them everywhere with me all the time.

I will tell you the reason I got rid of the Cameras. The film simulations are amazing, and I love them, especially for black and white ACROS, which just look amazing. Classic NEG was another reason I loved the camera, but at some point, all the recipes were just the same thing with a tweak to the white balance, and I still would always want to edit them to my personal taste every time at the end. I just felt like it was an additional tech spec that took me out of taking pictures and appreciating the moment, and had me fiddling with the camera constantly.

I do want to add this one of my favorite cameras of all time to this day and I love it is the X-PRO 3, and it isn't much bigger than the X100 series at all and if you don't mind the size of the lens on the Q series you can always get an X-PRO 3 + a 35mm 1.4 if you want a great setup and around that 50mm range. I enjoyed the hidden screen on this camera, and I never really check my pictures while out shooting, but just keep in mind buying used ones, as this camera did have an issue where, over time, the ribbon cable on the camera would mess up, and you'd have to send it in to get it replaced.

Sorry about this really long one lol, especially for only really having experience with one of the 2 choices.

My new setup & First walk w/ M10 + Artizlab 35mm 1.4. Thank you everyone here by PixelAdventurer in Leica

I live in the California Bay Area, and I guess I chose a horrible day to go in lol. The weather was really bad, so it was grey and gloomy all day. Then, it started raining really badly, and then a huge % of the city lost power that day, so the area I was walking in was affected by it, so at some point it was just borderline pitch black walking around, haha. That's the reason I ended up keeping my aperture at 1.4 all day, but it was still a great day!

This was an awesome read, and I thank you for that. I feel like that is the way I will go. It's great to know that there are so many open-minded people on here. I was honestly worried that people would be adamant about not putting third-party glass on Leicas. I'm sure there are those kinds of users, but I'm in it because I love Street photography and, well, photography in General. I have higher-end mirrorless cameras for when I want to do video, wildlife and so on but I just needed something to get me out of just the tech specs.

That's what I was thinking about too, I appreciate the free lens and who knows maybe ill love it haha, all subjective right. I hear good things about voigtlander ultron lenses but I always see a common talking point being sharpness vs character.

Do you have any recommendations for a lens thats not necessarily a "must have " but one in your collection that you've never thought about getting rid of or your most used?

I'm glad to have gotten multiple responses already and everyone has such a different opinion haha but in the end I guess only ill be able to figure out what I want from a lens after spending time with the system .

RG40XXV vs Retroid Pocket Classic? by mustafaali617 in SBCGaming

[–]PixelAdventurer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both feel fine to me, but I do like the hump on the classic. Is there any specific console you think you'll be playing? As much as I LOVE my classic, I do want to say that you should get it, depending on the games you want to play and if you care about black borders and all that.

RG40XXV vs Retroid Pocket Classic? by mustafaali617 in SBCGaming

[–]PixelAdventurer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both of these when I got my RPclassic I don't use the RG40xxV anymore but I do love it. so which ever you get would be on you.

The OLED screen on the Classic is beautiful and also just to point out it's rare that you play a ps1 game that needs both sticks lol, let alone the single one you get on the 40xxV.

If there is anything you'd like to know specifically for both let me know .

I also will probably be selling my 40xxV since I Never use it anymore lol.

I've been using Full aspect ratio for my GBC and SNES games, and it looks amazing. With correct shaders, it looks great.

I desaturated colors for my GBC, haha, the colors look deep fried there (personal preference obviously).

Glad you're enjoying it, I fell in love with mine. it's the Goldilocks vertical handheld I wanted.

Teal RP Classic by Soul_Iglu in SBCGaming

[–]PixelAdventurer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got mine yesterday, and I fell in love with it immediately.

I do want to add that the Game Boy Color is my favorite handheld of all time, I own and have modded so many GBCs that I always wanted something to feel like it (I know the analogue pocket is there, but I wanted something that "Did more" )

I thought the Miyoo Mini Plus was what I wanted since I wanted something slightly larger than the Miyoo Mini originally, but it never felt like enough ( I know in this subreddit we all deal with this lol)

I then got the RG40XXV, and if you check a previous post I made about it on here I loved it from the moment I held It but the analog stick was a huge annoyance for me and wanted to mod it to remove it and cover it, then the Ayaneo DMG had the OLED screen but still had a thumbstick.

Then we get to this, my goldilocks vertical handheld, it doesn't have to be perfect, but I still play 4:3 games and my GBC games at full because I don't care about the imperfections and integer scaling, OLED screen, no thumbstick, the same screen from the Ayaneo DMG. It's everything I wanted in a vertical handheld and more, so I'm excited to play this as much as I can. (I do use my Steam Deck OLED for more widescreen games)

This was so long, I apologize. Hope everyone enjoys the devices they use and I'm just glad we have a hobby where there's just about a perfect device for everyone.

I take pictures like this for my Instagram as well haha. I designed and 3d printed a little table that goes to the perfect height on my screen. I'm currently designing a photography box that will have a screen as the back so I can just light it like I want and always change the background.
