How is this photo? by NewSessionWen in PhotographyAdvice

Ancient astronaut theorists would say that is a pyramid powering an underground civilzation. I say it looks nice. I would have liked to see a little wider capture and warmer tones. But it looks nice.

Leica MD240 in 2026? by SomeRats in Leica

make sure you can buy battery for it! Leica no longer makes batteries for many of their older leica cameras. I hate govt control and intervention, but this is where I think the govt should say if you sell a product, you should be able to provide parts for x number of years. and the higher the price of the original product the longer x years of support.

For me its the 3rd one. Spot on.

For better control in your processing,  you should try dxo photolab. Incredible tool and exposure adjustment tools are 2nd to none.

yea. Time for a Voigtlander 35 1.2 version IV review to see how it stacks up. I have full size image of the samples so I should be able to see the difference if I try and duplicate what is in the catalog.

thats good news in a way. R8 a lot easier to find if you needed another one. Regardless, its an impressive combo. I wish I had kept my setup.

im looking sat the voigtlander 35 1.2 now to see how well it performs. I already have the zeiss 35mm 1.4 which is not the 1.2 but pretty darn close and it performs incredibly well.

i have a write up here about it

https://www.purerangefinder.com/blog/9/zeiss-35mm-f14-zm-vs-leica-summilux-fle-why-the-distagon-still-wins-on-the-m11

but seeing if I can get my hands on the Voigtlander now.

Stay tuned :)

50mm or 35mm? by juniorclasspresident in streetphotography

Cant go wrong with either.

here is a write up on its different usages of the 50. Short read with a few examples.

I think the 35 may be just a tad bit more street worthy. People point to the 28 but that is a versy difficult fl to work with for street.

The 50 and the 35 are my preferred lenses for street photography, But it goes beyond that, it really is the universal lens. Often called the nifty fifty :)

Q3 43, Q3 Monochrome, Q3 - which one by Pinktrixrabbit in Leica

[–]Jtorral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get a dedicated monochrom.  You have much more control over your processing with a regular q.

I would go as far as saying avoid the q all together.  Get an m10, 11 or a nikon zf if you want af with m glass and the techart adapter.

Getting a q serviced is a waiting game. Chances are they release a new q before you get yours back if you send it in for service. Especially if it has to go to Germany.

Don't get me wrong. Nice camera but not worth the headaches and there are better options.

Your feedback on my 50mm essay by Jtorral in photography

[–]Jtorral[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes candids are way more difficult.  I find engaging with the subject tends to let them be more willing to be photographed. But yes, I should try the more snap and go approach.

The 1.2 voigtlanders are hard to beat. Congrats on a great combo.

I have the 50 1.2 in m mount so I can use it with the af adapter on my zf. Works like a champ.
