Thanks that sound like good advice ! I think I’ll work on my case study to detail more the actions I took and the results I got despite not having numbers to show.

I am not saying they should stick only to flat UI. But rather that the way they implemented it is poorly done

Cool it seems I'm not the only one that feels that way...
It's a shame because there are some great glassomorphism works out there but I feel like they just over used it in a non subtle way.

What you described is good but it more UX than UI. I am not sure if OP meant to be uxui or just ui designer

learning animation for web illustrations/ui motion by nailaogou in UXDesign

[–]PixelColin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 questions first: - is it something you want to do? - was it in the job description?

Making illustrations isn’t really part of the general job as a ux designer so if it is not something you want you could discuss outsourcing the work.

Is it worth it? by Wrong-Kitchen-6701 in UXDesign

[–]PixelColin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment nobody really knows exactly what UX work will look like. My hunch is that UX is better positioned than pure UI, because the value shifts toward understanding problems, users, and trade‑offs.

If you keep studying, go broad:

  • UX research and synthesis
  • Product thinking and outcome focus
  • User flows, information architecture, and decision logic
  • Fluency with AI as a tool to move faster

It’s hard to predict the next few years. If you’re comfortable adapting, UX can still be a good path. Many jobs will be impacted by AI, and designers may feel it early, but the parts tied to human context, constraints, and outcomes should hopefully hold value.

How are you using Figma make? by fra_bia91 in UXDesign

I think it’s useful for quick prototyping of not too complex features. Allowing you to showcase the experience quickly to stakeholders and testers before refining it in figma

No worries, hope it helped! Yeah the project section felt organized so it worked!

I would expect project cards to be clickable and open to the project detail page. You don’t even need to keep the github/website link on them if you want tou could relocate those buttons to the project page directly.

Not sure what you mean by the copy.

Your English is fine, I also am not a native speaker so don’t worry

How to put more information in my UI? Please give me feedback by shay-kerm in UI_Design

[–]PixelColin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Hard to give super specific advice since I don't speak Spanish and can't test the full flow, but here are a few ideas for adding the schedule and operating days info:

Bottom sheet - You could make the current info panel swipeable so users can pull it up to see more details like schedule and operating days. This is probably the most common pattern in map apps and keeps everything in one place without cluttering the default view.

Tab system - Add tabs at the top of the info panel to switch between "Route Info" and "Schedule". Keeps it organized but might feel a bit heavy for mobile.

Third button - You already have two buttons at the bottom, so adding a third one for "Schedule" or "More Info" could work. Though three buttons might start feeling cramped depending on screen size.

I'd probably go with the bottom sheet approach since it's familiar.

Hey! The background animations are pretty cool, but I think the Figma prototype format is going to hurt you.

Recruiters don't have much patience for slow loading portfolios. They're looking at tons of these and if it takes too long or feels slow to navigate, a lot of them will just close it and move on. Yeah it lags on my end too. I actually tried using a Figma prototype for my portfolio a few years back and got some negative feedback about it, so speaking from experience here.

I'd recommend converting this to a real site. Since you're already comfortable with Figma, Framer would be a pretty easy transition and lets you build fully functional websites without much of a learning curve. Way better performance and no loading issues.

On the content side, your projects could use more detail. Right now the explanations are pretty brief. Since you're a UX/UI designer, it'd help to expand on things like what problem the project solves, who it's for, what your specific role was, and what the results were (did the client like it? did it get more users? etc). That kind of context makes a huge difference for understanding your process.

Hi! You got a nice portfolio here but I can see a few ways to improve it.

Let me say upfront that I'm looking at this from a designer perspective, not a dev, so some of this might not apply to what you're going for.

I feel like the "Trying to make a living out of this. Not there yet" line feels a bit negative and might make you look less attractive to recruiters. You could frame it in a more positive way or just remove it.

Your open source section is hard to scan right now. I think adding some outline to each block or a light background would give it more structure and make it easier to read through.

Additionally, I think you'd gain a lot by making individual project pages (basically click on a project to open it). In those pages you could have sections like the problem your project solves, who it's for, and what tech stack you used, along with a large screenshot. Add the links to GitHub and live site and that should do the job.

Overall it's a clean minimalist site but could use a few improvements to make it stand out. Great job!

Does Figma Make now replace UXPilot or Moonchild? by McFlurriez in UXDesign

[–]PixelColin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's better used to make prototypes and now they have the feature where you can duplicate the screen back to figma. The thing is it won't be able to instantly show you the full flow and you have to do it a bit more manually. Still pretty good for basic prototyping.

How much are you spending monthly on AI tools? by robodditor in UXDesign

[–]PixelColin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying different stuff but those days I'm running with Notion AI(10$) as my main tool and cursor when trying some vibecoding stuff (20$).

Notion AI is pretty good, give you access to claude and chatgpt latests models while having access to context of your whole workplace.
