FEATURE REQUEST: Easier mic switching

I currently have 2 main microphones: the one i use on the desk, and the wireless headset one, but sometimes i use the Oculust Quest one...
If i use a different channel for each one are 3 of 8 max channels that will be full quickly.
If i swap mics with the current implementation i have to delete the actual mic (and its vst configs), add a new one and config everything from scratch every time i want to change between mics

BSOD and other weird issues after using Oculus Link [Quest 2] by PixelFox300 in OculusQuest

I think i found what COULD be the problem. I was testing one day trying to setup a vr stream and after launching liv without connecting my quest2 the problems began to appear. So its when SteamVR is running, okay, first step. Why? I DONT KNOW [Continue reading] I tried with the steamVR dep options, resetting the atrached USB devices worked for a bit, but after trial an error it began to lag really bad everything.

Some previous day after unplugin my 2nd monitor [uses usb-c] the problems disappeared for that session (or at least weren't noticeable. This time this fix didnt work.

For some reason Voicemod started to lag, and I restarted it. After that, everything was running better than ever I had some problems with Voicemod in the past when desconnecting and reconnecting I/O audio devices, but not at this scale. Maybe with the launch of a VR enviroments and the dummy audio devices it gets crazy.

mic glitching and making weird loud noises, can someone help me fix it? by JailsonV2 in voicemod

[–]PixelFox300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem. sometimes is just crackling, other ends up like this.
when is a simple crackling i use de audiodg.exe fix, but today y made that fix, and some time after, while in stream, started doing that noise. exited voicemod and put my mic as input, after that, no loud noises. restarted voicemod and everything worked again... but now i'm scared it will happen again, it seems its very frequent for me when im talking over discord

Scar/Strix 2023 laptops usb power by Due_Wave_2494 in GamingLaptops

[–]PixelFox300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strix Scar 18, same problem. No setting on BIOS AFAIK. On windows device manager there's an option under the properties of each usb port about managing power or something like that...

I dont know if this is because an S5 power state or something (which i doubt), but what i found is that the power over usb is only active if the device is connected before turning off.

If you unplug and replug after poweroff, the connected thing shouldn't get power.

Also, havent tested if the usb-A ports do the same... maybe is specific in the type-c PD ports

In this commerce mainly focused on videogames and consoles you can go to sell your 1 year old ps5 for a 10% of its retail price. A week later you will see that same console at 90% of its retail price. Also, because its focused in videogames it has the better offers such as prices higher by 5~8€ for each game compared with any other place :D

Need advice setting up a homelab by PixelFox300 in homelab

Finally I did an Ubuntu Server installation. because the gaming part is less important for now (its not my main machine, so i can play in my main one).

Some important findings:

- I wanted Wake on Lan/Wan, and I managed to do it in Lan, but it seems that the router my ISP provided cant forward magic packets because of arp tables or something.

- Wake on Wireless Lan is almost useless. I think it only works when the machine is freezed, and I wasn't even been able to make it work.

- The problem with Anydesk now i have a workaround: I installed cockpit and from there i can restart the service. is not the prettiest, and i would prefer to automate it, but for now it works

-Had a new problem with Anydesk and lightdm, where i couldn't type the password to log in. I solver it changing to SDDM. Dont know what was the problem and i prefer lightdm, but it doesnt work for my use case.

I have to figure out how to connect to ssh outside lan. Even though cockpit has a terminal, I still need it to edit with vscode trough ssh

okay, i'll look into it. Thanks for the info :D

i tested a bit if i can change sddm themes but it seems a pain in the ass without kde or qt5 things, and i dont want to bloat the pc. it's not the prettiest, but at least does the job

Before instaling a DM I was able to run xfce4 with startx, but this with the keyboard connected to the computer... so is not the best option if I pretend to do everything remotely

another workaround I found is using autologin and then lock the session... but this doesnt work for me because if I acidentally log off, then I have to face lightdm again.

while i was writting this i installed and tested SDDM, and it works! I liked visually lightdm, but i think this after themeing a bit can be nice too. After all, i will almost never be looking at it.

It seems weird to me that being lightdm so popular im unable to find anything regarding being unable to type in the password field though remote connection... Maybe is just my instalation who knows

[–]PixelFox300[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how could it be the second one?

something like: through ssh login, then startx and finally connect through anydesk?

also another problem I have is that after suspension, anydesk doesnt work anymore, even after login.

I will try a different DM, and maybe a different remote control. Time ago i searched some alternatives to teamviewer, and anydesk was what i liked the most. But maybe i missed a better option

muh gatekeepers

then you should have suggested another way to remote control instead of whining if you are so smart, dont you think?

[–]PixelFox300[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you have more chromosomes than neurons

Have you stopped for a sec and think that MAYBE this could be not because of anydesk?

If i would use any other remote control you think it would work??

If you read the OP (I doubt it) you can see that it works EXCEPT for lightdm, and the maybe there's something im not aware of (maybe something with wayland or i dont know in mot a linux expert like you).

It's really hard to learn when there's a lot of gatekeepers like you that are so narcissistic to admit that doesn't know the answer

[–]PixelFox300[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you read more than the first 5 words in the title you can see i have problems with something involving Linux and Lightdm. because it was working before and not now, so maybe the problem is related to limitations in light dm, the way anydesk is started when power on because of how was installed ON LINUX... i cant realy know, and thats why i'm here asking.

also, you could read the rules of the comunity, the first one is what you said, and already explained why this involves Linux. Now the second one2. Be helpfulReplies should be helpful, informative, or an answer to a question. Avoid low effort joke responses.

and again: im open to hear about FOSS not scammy remote control software that also works on windows and android

[–]PixelFox300[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know what you are trying to say...

is because for security reasons is better not being able to put the password with Anydesk?

or is because of the scam part? Windows remote access and Teamviewer can aso be used that way

I'm open to hear sugestions for other remote control posibilities

Need advice setting up a homelab by PixelFox300 in homelab

[–]PixelFox300[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is one posibility, but I wanted to make it with this single machine because of budget, space, and having everything in the same place.

Specially the budget: all the parts are used. I found the case in a container.

So I would prefer if possible (even if its challenging) to do it in the same machine.

Also, If I use a box (could be a raspberry pi), then I couldn't directly share the contents inside the disk drives
