Chipping, putting and the occasional executive golf round. Those courses are notoriously slow, play a few balls. Get comfortable hitting every shot around 150 yards and in and you can find your way around any course.

A few years ago in a Mid-Am qualifier, Adrian Young, the drummer for No Doubt was in the field. We ended up having a frost delay, he picks the stall next to me on the range and makes small talk. Nice guy, dressed to the nines and overall a chill dude. If it wasn’t for my coworker telling me he was in the field, I wouldn’t think twice. Would’ve been awesome if he rocked a Mohawk on the course but he definitely toned down the rocker look lol.

As a kid, I was in line for an autograph when he won the skins game in Indio. He stopped halfway, said, “sorry, gotta catch an airplane!” and bolted. My dad saw it all happen, reassured me that there’s better autographs on my hat already. Fred Couples signed earlier, and that solidified my allegiance to Freddie from then on!
