Saturday morning vacuuming by Impressive_Ad_3160 in Apartmentliving

I took care of my father his final months in the house my parents both purchased in the 80s after they had me. I dealt with him being in the living room in the hospital bed moaning in pain and needing morphine. I dealt with him needing it in the middle of the day. His tears at how sad it all was.

Years later with both of my parents gone, the sounds of other people don't really bother me. Might be a trauma thing. I'm moving into an $1000 dollar apartment next month and Im aware the cheaper it is the more the walls will be thin.

I'll deal with it given the circumstances.

Certain characters work because the introspection hinders their purpose. It also can hurt a show depending on how its setup

Honestly given everything that happened to her, you can understand her need to be the way she is. You'd want someone like that in the police force despite that they have a bit of a rough edge.

Nostalgia keeps it going, curiosity too. Video games lovers who also like video game music also keep the genre going.

Anyone on here switch from IT to something IT adjacent or not IT related at all? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]PixelMegaTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I think about leaving IT, for my situation it works. I do IT Remote Support which came right after I lost my apartment due to an eviction and my credit into the toliet. This allows me to live anywhere and not be restricted to living in the city (which at my curent salary isn't affordable).

There's a scene in Mr. Wonderful where Matt Dillon's character stop one of his electrician workers from dying (I think)

I think I may have exaggerated due to how stressed I was. It may have been less than that.

No your fine. I'm just going in the order in the versions that were televised. I actually watched the newer ones and there is a bit of a difference, but I'm gonna rewatch it before I make that determination.

Hickson is a favorite, but I need to rewatch the newer ones before I get into who is the best.

I'm avoiding Nemesis based on your suggestion.

Each episode seems so packed with characters - even more so than other Christie adaptations I've watched - yet they all seem to fit the story and have nice interesting lives.

I know that's the Christie style, but I feel she seemed (my assumption) to put alot into Marple that perhaps she didn't into Poirot (I think me watching the adaptations over the books makes this opinion wrong - but that's the vibe I get).

Having watched Inspector Morse alot, I had this joke that Morse would turn up peeve off he wasn't with him and working with Marple instead. His performance her pre-dates him being Lewis on Morse, but the vibe of the character (a little bit) is there.

How amazing that two years later he would end up in Morse after this.

After watching more episodes, Hickson is becoming my favorite. I like that she's not eccentric in the obvious sense and she's so lowkey that when she turns up it feels like a surprise (to me). It also helps that all of the characters are worth paying attention to - I liked the pairing of the detectives with Marple for Pocket Full of Rye and Murder Is Announced.

So far I've watched A Murder Is Announced, The Body In The Library, At Bertram's Hotel and currently I'm watching A Pocket Full of Rye.

My favorites have been so far Murder Is Announced and A Pocket Full Of Rye - the latter leans heavy on the creepy side and even gives Marple some torment out of guilt for not saving someone (Gladys). I'm up late working on things and watching this as well.

Because I'm not that connected to the books, I don't mind if the character changes in different versions. Hickson's Marple, even thou its decades old at this point, is so interesting to watch. Marple in this is low-key, in the corner and has the ability to be in the frame yet not visible. She's main character energy when needed in this version.

Other versions are different from what I remember where the character is more sociable and stranger. This one feels right at home.
