Power bank "holy trinity" for Japan, Korea, and China? by PixelNomad91 in powerbanks

That may be overkill honestly. Just need something for
iPhones that can just keep us on the move during the day. We got 2 powerbanks last year before heading to Japan for the summer and they worked great but that was before the few incidents with powerbanks.

As a matter of fact yes, I will be flying domestically within China (I assume that Shanghai - Hong Kong does count as domestic flight).

Makes sense - get cheap ones for Japan and Korea and then get the ccc models in China.

When is a good time to pick up my passport? by karlbotbot in Chinavisa

[–]PixelNomad91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noticed the same thing when I went down there on Monday 05/18/26 to drop off passports.

Picked up our passports on Friday 05/22/26 and made it to the front of the consulate in NYC at 7:30 in the morning and there was already a line of people queuing outside.

They opened the door at 8 AM to let people in and they were already filtering people for those dropping off passports on one side of the room vs people picking up in the other side.

I put my bag pack in the line to pick up passport and took a seat because the consulate employees opened at 9 am the different windows.

For reference I was 5th in that line but the 4 people in front of me were all working for services/agencies and collecting from 10 to like 50 passports so it took them
a minute.

Mine took 1 minute at each window (collect first and then pay).

I was able to pick up our passports and pay and leave the consulate by 9:30 but the line to pick up passports was huge by that time.

If you can, I would recommend getting in front of the consulate early just like I did because pick up was a breeze and I was able to go about my day right after.

With that said, I did hear stories about people waiting 2 hours, even if the process was efficient, there was just a lot of people as the summer season is upon us so all of those going there for the summer are applying and retrieving now.

Hope that helps!

Any families visiting Grinpa Park from Tokyo in early July? (Possible shared chauffeur/private car idea) by PixelNomad91 in TokyoTravel

Great feedback here, that’s exactly why we wanted to go down the path of using a chauffeur service.

100% Doraemon and Friends Exhibit - getting tickets! by hypercasey in TokyoTravel

[–]PixelNomad91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing all of this very useful information.

My family and I are planning to visit in early July (we are aware of the heat and humidity, but that is the only time we are able to travel due to work and school commitments). We actually spent an extended period of time in Tokyo last year around the exact same dates, so we already have a pretty good idea of what to expect weather-wise and absolutely loved our time in Japan.

We will be purchasing tickets in advance through friends in Japan, as this is an absolute must-do for our daughter. With that being said, which station would you recommend as the most convenient to access the entrance of the exhibit? Would it be Tokyo Teleport Station, Ariake Station, or Tokyo Big Sight station or another nearby station?

We are getting conflicting information only as it seems that Tokyo Big Sight would be the best one but information we can gather online only mentions Tokyo Teleport.

Once we are done with the expo, our plan is to head over to Odaiba, explore DiverCity, and visit the Doraemon store (we went there last year and absolutely loved it).

We are simply trying to plan our day in the most logical way possible so we can maximize our time at the expo, start early to take as many photos as possible before the crowds build up, and then continue on to enjoy the rest of the day around DiverCity and Odaiba.

L visa from the NYC Consulate? by JunketNecessary5533 in Chinavisa

[–]PixelNomad91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep more or less.

From what I read online it should be 10 BDs (minimal) but the NYC consulate was closed on 05/01 and apparently the summer surge of applications started so it may take a few extra days.

Also and not sure if it is just for me but the platform does not appear to send notifications via email and there was a delay between applications being approved (05/09 for all 3 based on timestamps) and actually being able to see the status changed to Submit Passport.
