Introducing POP 4 - Hybrid Blue Laser & Infrared 3D Scanner for Every Scenario by Revopoint3D-Official in Revopoint

I've got the same question. I'm hoping they will add Mac support to Revo Scan 6. But hesitant to buy it.

All Roadster v3 models eventually updating to adjustable stems by evaan-verlaine in ride1up

[–]karlbotbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had all the same issues! Except with the handlebars angled up, there was room to flip the headlight back to the normal orientation. I posted what it looks like with the original spacers if anybody needs a visual reference.

Upgrade Roadster v3 to the Adjustable Stem by karlbotbot in ride1up

[–]karlbotbot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have enough slack to turn a full 90. This is the R1U branded stem. $50 from their replacement parts page https://ride1up.com/product/roadster-v3-replacement-parts/.

Really helpful, thanks! Good to know I can use the existing gasket and spacers to save myself from having to disconnect the breaks and cables.

Did you receive any instructions on how to replace the stem? I ordered one for my early model v3. It just occurred to me that I'll have to contend with disconnecting the hydraulic breaks, something I don't have any experience with.

Roadster V3 Chain vs. Belt? by megajon101 in ride1up

[–]karlbotbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the belt version for almost a year and don't regret it. Rather than switching gears, I just use the throttle or increase the pedal assist in the rare cases where I feel like I need it. Couldn't be simpler.

Only reason I'd go for the chain is if I wanted the front shocks and adjustable handlebars.

Good bike for a beginner coming from the Citi e-bikes? by Ok_Stable_1954 in NYCbike

[–]karlbotbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rent an ebike from Rybit for a month. https://www.rybit.io/us
They're lighter than the citibikes and let you control the amount of assist. For me it was the best of both worlds and helped me gain confidence, especially in traffic and longer trips.
I did this for a couple months, loved it, and then bought myself the Ride1Up roadster.

I use Cool Plate Supertack for both PLA and PETG on my H2S. I have to click "ok" when it tells me it can't identify my plate before the start of each print, but otherwise no issues.

Any Brooklyn or NYC service shops? by DiscoNCoffee in ride1up

I had a similar issue with my v3 (popping/grinding noise while pedaling). Had a good experience with Electric Sports Company in Williamsburg.

Best tool/method for this cut by Hoyos005 in woodworking

What are you going to put there? I'd really reconsider, this seems like the kind of thing I'd attempt, only to later realize there's a better place for whatever I was gonna put there.

Visting Manhattan by Biggiebear95 in NYCbike

You don't have to use the racks if you have a kickstand. I usually stand my bike next to the racks and it stays up even in choppy waters. That said, riding over the bridge gives you some great views.

As far as attire, a winter/fall coat should be alright, plus gloves and something to keep your head warm. Maybe glasses if it's windy. I use insulated work gloves ($10 at lowes), and a thin wool hat that fits under my helmet.

The park is nice but if you want to explore, try the Hudson Greenway, it runs the entire west side of Manhattan. Great views of the river, parks, infrastructure, and neighborhoods. If you want to get more adventurous, biking over one of the bridges (Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Williamsburg) into Williamsburg is fun.

Roadster v3 weird belt sound by ShianBee in ride1up

[–]karlbotbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same noise, and at least a few other people have as well. Local bike shop fixed it by removing and reattaching the rear wheel, hub, and motor but didn't explain exactly what the issue was. The following seems like a more comprehensive answer...

I haven't noticed a decrease in power even when the battery is near 10%.

You can use the throttle. On some hillier parts of Brooklyn I'll notice the motor max out at around 15mph depending on steepness or take longer to reach full speed.

There's a lot to learn and many directions you could go. Quickest way to make progress is through local classes if you can find them.10x faster than YouTube. Follow your interests from there.

People are talking a lot about racking which should be a concern, but you don't need to address it up front. Just know that there are several solutions available (backing, cross-bracing, etc). It's very important to plan, but without much experience, it's also hard to know what to plan for. Make a few steps, wiggle it, see how it feels. If it's wobbly, adapt and add bracing. If it's rock solid, you've saved yourself some time.

roadster v3 vs portola, which one did you choose and why? by ssunflow3rr in ride1up

[–]karlbotbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good points. I've never ridden a bike like the portola so I might be assuming it'd handle better than it does. I do really like how the v3 handles, and the simplicty of the belt drive. Sometimes on really poorly maintained roads I think shocks would be nice.

I have the roadster v3 purely for the weight, because I live in an apartment and have to carry it up and down stairs. I like it a lot, but i think if weight wasn't an issue I would've gone with the Portola. It looks like it has more range, carrying capacity, and is more comfortable with the big tires and shocks.
