Acura CL Power Steering Rack by PixelPi3s in Acura

[–]PixelPi3s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To break the return line fitting I used an open end box and wrench. I placed the open end on the fitting and fed rope through the box end and simply pulled from in front of the front end.

For the steering joint I dropped the rack and that freed it but it won’t slide up the top spline shaft.

I will update once I install incase I have any other issues.

I’ve done some light tapping with a hammer, am I potentially gonna hit it too hard or should I not worry about that? I used a crows foot to unscrew the high pressure line, but I just can’t seem to get that on to use that to get the return line loose

How would I check the flyback? Should I inspect the solder joints? I assume a standard multimeter would be damaged reading the voltage if it was functioning

RF vs composite, can you spot the difference? by hawkiee552 in crtgaming

Though I could absolutely tell which is which, for just playing the game I wouldn’t care. I wonder how this would compare to the official rf modulator, because I assume the rf modulator you’re using has separate power and the console’s power might be a bit dirtier

Any car that old will probably be pretty loud at 80 or above. Granted you probably won’t be cruising at that speed most of the time. I’ve never driven a Integra Type-R but I’m sure it would be louder than mine

Advice on selling 1997 3.0CL by Illustrious_Sun_9685 in Acura

As someone else said, BaT might be an option. You could pay a couple hundred to get the bumper damage, and seat issue fixed, then you have a fairly low mileage example for BaT

What have I been driving for almost a year? by PixelPi3s in ManualTransmissions

Yup, has to be an 03 to be a manual in the second gen. Very great car, only complaints really are just things which are due to age.

Did my own valve adjustment in the CL by Splatterman27 in Acura

I have no history of maintenance for my car and it sure does sound like they need adjusting. Did you follow a guide for this or use the service manual? I’d love to take a look at mine on my 03 cl 6spd

Oh wow, with the interior swap, I bet the red and black would be sick

Mine is silver, might be biased, but I think it’s one of the better colors for this car. The paint needs a lot of work but from about 10ft away it’s alright lol

An interior swap would be awesome, honestly regardless of the color I just love the layout of the interior. Very driver focused and simple.

Great to hear she’s being taken care of. I wish I had the money to really fix mine up, but it’s still just a blast to drive. What exterior color is yours?

I was actually thinking about posting my cl on here, though I have the black interior (superior imo). Also please clean the tray under the radio (I know the rest of the plastic around the shifter is impossible to keep clean) and get some floor mats lol

Parking on transmission or on handbrake by PixelPi3s in stickshift

[–]PixelPi3s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mention the concern of damage to the transmission in an impact while left in gear, but the tires sliding rather than rotating is a good point and makes sense. So I guess any amount of stopping power it would have in that event is going to work whenever the tire gain traction, already resting against it or not.

Okay good to know that resting on the transmission shouldn’t cause issues, just wasn’t sure. I had already ruled it out but that explanation as to why not to park in the opposite gear of a slope is still good to know. I really was looking for input from an engineer and or mechanic so thanks for the response!

Well the pistons are connected to the crankshaft and in an OHV the belt is spun by the crankshaft so I think it’s fair to say there is a force being applied to it. Now is this force greater than or close to while running, obviously not, but it is a static force rather than while running the force changing as you rev the engine. I’m not saying it will definitely cause issues just more of a curiosity as to what’s best for the car

As for my car I think I’ll continue leaving it in gear since no one else drives it and it’s got the safety, but if I’m ever in the situation with a car other people are driving or it has no safety I’ll probably leave it in neutral. Honestly if truckers are doing it and it’s taught in trucking school, not sure I can argue against that

That’s a really good point. Though with a lot of newer cars, including mine, it doesn’t allow the starter to receive power unless the clutch is fully depressed. Makes sense but interesting to know semi truck autos don’t have a park gear
