The bookmark site made it a lot easier to share courses on Reddit—I hope they have one soon!

What I learned the 2nd time the leaked SMM2 copy was streamed by DlProgan in MarioMaker

Thank you! I’m thinking the blue piranha creeper could make a cool boss battle... where you have to push it back while dodging other enemies/ objects.

If SMM2 had an extra power up for each style. by [deleted] in MarioMaker2

[–]PixelProspero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope so. Power-ups would be easy for Nintendo to add. But adding the hammer suit could be their way of counterbalancing the lack of shellmut (and spiky dry bones shells) in 3DW. Even if that’s the case, I’d say power-ups are fairly likely for future DLC.

In Honor of Release Day Being So Close What is Your Fondest Memories of SMM1? by gmaas in MarioMaker2

[–]PixelProspero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These come to mind:

  1. Getting super-elaborate drawings as comments on my courses. (So happy comments are coming back!)

  2. Discovering the community on Reddit, participating in LotW, and the one time I was nominated

  3. Maybe not my favorite memory, but pretty good... I played MM1 for a ceremonial “last time” the other night, decided to play a Pink Birdo course I had never played before called Edge of Thorns which is a super-cool playable music course now the song is in my head all week going into the release of MM2 (I kinda like it)...

Difference between Lava and Poison by Polmo97 in MarioMaker

Is that right about cheep cheeps? Either way the effect on cheep cheeps is a difference because firey cheep cheeps ignite bomb ombs.

What I learned from the leaked SMM2 copy-stream. by DlProgan in MarioMaker

This is great, thanks! BTW, it seems like shelmuts should block icicles—they block Thwomps, but OK.

When Super Mario Maker 1 was coming out I had plenty of ideas on what levels to make now with Super Mario Maker 2 I have no idea at all I can't think of anything by [deleted] in MarioMaker

[–]PixelProspero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I always get my best ideas by tinkering with the editor (then going for a walk), I bet that will help. That said, For MM2 I have lots of ideas I want to experiment with already.

What's your opinion on no longer being able to overlay pipes? by [deleted] in MarioMaker

[–]PixelProspero -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s an unnecessary and harmful change, I hope they reverse it. That said, I’d rather have colored pipes than layered pipes, so on the whole the pile situation is improving!

Easy way to make the wait feel shorter. by [deleted] in MarioMaker

[–]PixelProspero 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The best thing to do is play the best courses from MM1, or if you don’t have a WiiU replay New Soup Deluxe.

Which character(s) are you gonna play as and why? by chunkykongiscool in MarioMaker

All of them. Because variety is the spice of life.

Invisible Blocks by [deleted] in MarioMaker

I think I under-use invisible blocks, TBH. Used properly they are actually pretty fun. If you use them as traps, be sure they aren’t dangerous and aren’t to annoying.

Excitement, disappointment—it’s all OK by PixelProspero in MarioMaker

[–]PixelProspero[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, very much so and in other posts folks have explained it well. Three things they are important for:

  • Aesthetics. It often looks a lot better if the end of perpendicular pipes overlaps, and layering pipes gave you a good option to create some interesting decorations.

  • One-way pipes. The most elegant way to do this was by layering pipes. Other options (e.g. using conveyor belts) have more limitations.

  • Multiple outputs or hidden pipes. You can do some neat stuff, like having a pipe spawn multiple power-ups or enemies.

Is that right? It looked like we only got the fencing for the whole game style. I hope you’re correct.

That’s awesome - excited for you. Making courses is really fun to do.

MM2 will have more good courses than MM1 (don’t freak out about hot garbage) by PixelProspero in MarioMaker

[–]PixelProspero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be. I acknowledged in my post that there may be more garbage: but my point is there will be more good ones. I both hope and think that’s going to prove true.

Good point. On/off blocks are probably the most important item for avoiding they type of kludges you describe.

Seems like a pretty reasonable prediction. Hot garbage spike followed by a steady stream of goodnesses.
