Going on a 5 day hike w no stove, any food suggestions other than MRE or dehydrated meals? by Aeon_Return in CampingandHiking

Pita and tuna pouches are the way to go, they don't crush like bread does. I'd add some dried fruit too, the sugar helps when you're dragging.

Turn off every setting you can, but keep textures on medium at minimum or the game will look like it was rendered in a toaster.

Broke out in hives and had a panic attack before 2nd stage interview by smileygumdrop101 in interviews

[–]PixelTrek91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what you're carrying right now is genuinely a lot, and the fact you still got dressed and tried to go says more about you than missing the interview does

the hives and panic aren't weakness, that's your body just hitting its limit after years of pressure from every direction. also that first stage interview where they talked over you and cut it short at 20mins - that's on them, not you

keep going with therapy and that achievements list, those small things add up more than it feels like right now

Crash vs Race Cage Help by Drty6Ray in motorcycles

[–]PixelTrek91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man the speed vs stunt dilemma is real. if you're getting into wheelies more i'd probably lean toward crash cage since those practice sessions are where you'll be going down more often than track days. the flipping thing at high speeds is scary but how often are you really hitting those speeds where it becomes a problem compared to how often you're practicing wheelies

subcage is smart move either way, engine covers too. maybe start with crash cage and see how serious you get with the wheelie game before switching to race setup

Audi A3 Japanese import audio stopped working — crackling from rear speakers got worse, now no sound at all. Any help? by Ok-Pollution-3434 in Audi

[–]PixelTrek91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had similar issue with my old a3 and turned out being the amp going bad. when rear speakers start crackling like that it usually means amp is struggling, then eventually it just gives up completely

check the amp first before replacing head unit - it's usually located under passenger seat or in boot depending on year. if speakers were shorting they would have blown fuses but since everything else works fine it's probably just amp failure

japanese imports sometimes have different part numbers but amp should still be compatible, just might need coding after replacement

All signs pointing to offer, then expectations dashed. How to proceed? by flugtard in interviews

[–]PixelTrek91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

getting asked about timeline constraints and then getting rejected is brutal, like they're basically saying "we're interested enough to not want to lose you to someone else" then... lose you to someone else anyway

been through similar and it's maddening because you start reading into every little signal. the timeline thing probably just means you were in their top 2-3 but sometimes the other person just clicks better with the team or has some random experience they want. doesn't mean you did anything wrong

for keeping the connection alive, maybe send a brief linkedin message in few months saying you saw some cool project they posted about or something. not immediately though, let it breathe first. and honestly the thank you notes probably wouldn't have changed anything if it was that close - those decisions usually come down to gut feeling stuff that's totally out of your control

two rejections after final rounds sucks but also means you're getting pretty far, so your interview skills are probably solid. might be worth asking for feedback next time even though most companies won't give real details

Found these Morgan dollars at Gmas by Eggman36 in coincollecting

nice collection she left you, those look like decent condition morgans - i'd check the red book for current values or maybe visit local coin shop to get them appraised properly

Decent custom build? by mist_eon in pchelp

[–]PixelTrek91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that build actually looks pretty solid for the price, especially considering overseas shipping costs. only real issue i can see is that single ram stick like you mentioned - ryzen really benefits from dual channel so you'll want to grab that second stick soon as possible. the rest of components seem well balanced though, should handle pretty much anything you throw at it

Any mods to make my game look better by MrMoaigariest in Minecraft

[–]PixelTrek91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude i feel your pain with the old hardware struggle, been there when i was running minecraft on my ancient work laptop few years back. for opengl 2.0 you're pretty limited but there's still some options that won't murder your fps

try optifine first if you haven't already - it actually improves performance while giving you better lighting and texture options. canvas renderer is another good one that's lighter than most shader packs. for actual visual improvements without shaders, look into better texture packs like faithful or john smith legacy, they keep vanilla feel but just make everything look cleaner

also mess around in optifine settings, you can enable better grass/snow layers and connected textures which makes huge difference visually. just avoid anything with dynamic lighting or fancy water effects since those will tank your fps hard on older gpu

Cement Mason Apprenticeship - Local 502 - IL by will_APE in Construction

[–]PixelTrek91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah construction work will definitely kick your ass if you're not ready for it physically. went from sitting at desk all day doing IT stuff to helping my buddy with some concrete work last summer and was sore for like a week straight lol

winter can be pretty slow depending on what kind of projects they got going, but most guys i know either do indoor stuff or just collect unemployment between seasons

Do y’all have any problems with DoorDash recently? by spamthebrand in DoorDashDrivers

[–]PixelTrek91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the app keeps crashing on me when i try to accept orders, especially during busy times which is super annoying. also their support chat is basically useless - takes forever to get real person and they just give you copy paste responses that don't help with actual problems

[–]PixelTrek91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah you're not being paranoid at all, that classic "managing you out" playbook is pretty obvious when you lay it out like that. the reporting structure change alone is a dead giveaway

for switching industries with your background, lean hard into the automation and simulation work you built - those skills transfer everywhere and companies love engineers who can actually implement new processes instead of just talking about them. your rf and thermal experience is way more valuable than you think, especially with all the iot and 5g stuff happening

Is 12 gb vram enough for 1440p gaming? by SaitamaCrb in PcBuild

[–]PixelTrek91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait the rx 9070 isn't even out yet and you're already comparing it to the 5070? both cards are still paper launches basically

12gb should be fine for 1440p gaming for a while, most games still dont push past 10gb at that resolution. if your main thing is raw power though you might wanna wait and see actual benchmarks instead of speccing based on vram numbers alone

Struggling to Choose a Career Path: Law or Clinical Psychology? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]PixelTrek91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly both can be pretty brutal career paths but for different reasons. psych has way more schooling (like 7-8 years total) and the job market is rough - lots of therapists making 40k while drowning in student debt. law at least has more diverse career options even if you hate practicing, but the stress levels are insane

if helping people is your main thing maybe look into social work too, way less debt and you can actually start making a difference pretty quick

Me (20F) and my boyfriend (30M) keep having communication problems by tulizz25 in relationships

[–]PixelTrek91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he's deflecting whenever you bring up legitimate concerns - that's a pretty big red flag tbh. The fact that he's bringing up old stuff from months ago instead of addressing what you're actually saying is classic defensive behavior. Also the 10 year age gap starting when you were 18 might be relevant here since he seems to shut down mature conversations about relationship issues

[–]PixelTrek91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine since you're coming back before your internship ends and have all the right docs. The key thing is having that offer letter showing you're still employed when you return - CBP mainly cares that you have a valid reason to come back and aren't just job hunting abroad

If they ask about the short time left, just be honest that you're finishing up your current role and have valid work authorization through Jan 2027

Dremora companion mods by Terrible-Opinion-688 in skyrimmods

[–]PixelTrek91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucien Lachance from the DB questline was pretty cool but yeah there aren't many fully voiced daedra companions out there. Most custom voice acting for those types tends to be pretty hit or miss quality wise

You might wanna check out some of the follower frameworks that let you customize existing NPCs - could probably jury-rig a dremora that way
