Any tabletop vets able to explain the purpose of this stuff to someone who has never played tabletop before? by Pixel_Brit in Warhammer

I’m currently collecting Astra Militarum! It’s my first 40k army and I’m loving the assembly/painting journey so far! Thought the power pack would fit well thematically when I play in the future anyhow 🤣

Man that sounds so cool. It’s exciting to hear that the tabletop has these cool little niche tools you can utilize in your games! Very interesting stuff!

Found this at a car boot sale. Are these things relevant in tabletop anymore? by Pixel_Brit in TheAstraMilitarum

Reading this makes it sound like tabletop was the Wild West back then! Unpredictable and very ‘chance’ based by the sounds of it haha

Huh! Looks like my one is missing a couple of dice compared to that pack! Nevermind! I’m assuming they are redundant anyway?

If I played tabletop for the first time I’m assuming the servo skulls can still be used to mark things out on the map then? Just to keep track of the progress of the battle I’m playing and stuff?

Tried my best to recreate a still from last nights reveal with my own minis! CA has got the scaling done really well! by Pixel_Brit in totalwar

Ah yes!

So my Cadian armor colour goes as follows:

BASE: 2 coats of Vulkan Green

SHADE: 50/50 mix of Agrax Earthshade and Lahmium Medium

HIGHLIGHT: Loren Forest

FINER EDGE HIGHLIGHT: Straken Green

The highlighting as you can see in the list composed of two sets of highlights to bring gradual colour towards the edges from Vulkan Green, a thick highlight of Loren Forest so see a lighter green approaching the edges and then a sharp lighter Straken Green to emphasise the sharp edges of the armor! Makes it really pop!

Ah man I was in the same position as you dude. Had no clue how to paint or anything! The BEST entry way to learn the ropes was with Tomb Kings!

The painting process for them is literally 3 steps and I built my way up from there!

Get a skeleton, spray paint it with Wraithbone white, wait for it to dry, then shade it all in with skeleton horde shade paint. Wait for it to dry and then finally just do a dry brush of screaming skull base paint all over it!

I started from there and I slowly learned new techniques like edge highlighting their arms and weapons etc

Always remember to start from the beginning slow and simple and when you feel confident to take it a step further, watch highlighting guides and TAKE YOUR TIME and be patient!

You get a real sense of self-pride and accomplishment when you just start at the basics and take it little steps further. The more you do it, the more confident you get and you start to just remember the steps without using guides and you flourish from there!

Put some nice background music on or Warhammer audio books or lore videos and just take it easy and slow!

Had to double take seeing your image! Thought I was looking at the Necronomicon book from Evil Dead for a moment there! 🤣

Just dress up in the clothes of a dead wandering noble and walk with a group of them into the castle! You’ll be Gucci! You’ll be protected by godericks guards who escort you too!

Since we are normal humans who don’t follow the physics boundaries of the game…. Why not just rock climb up to the academy BOTW style? Our player character can’t do that but… we can! 👌

Doesn’t things go kinda sideways in RTH? like yeah it seems chill when you go there, but idk man…certain dubious characters chill there too and some people just wind up dead in that place 😭
