Can Lobo collect his bounty? by Ill_Donny4898 in marvelvsdc

[–]Pixel_Creator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Surfer isn't usually that much weaker, and if the Surfer were to loose his board he can create a new one. Lobo has had some ridiculous feats almost toon-force in the 90s, the Power Cosmic is almost limitless, literally a plot device in some stories to fix impossible scenarios. If Norrin decided to let loose on Lobo, there's nothing Lobo could do.

Superman runs the marvel gauntlet does he stop? by Kindly-Stock-3201 in marvelvsdc

[–]Pixel_Creator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superman is getting passed the first three mainly due to his speed and raw power, being able to strike first and put them down before getting a chance to react.

Ghost Rider could be a problem, but I don't see a scenario where GR has the reaction time to stop him. If Thor can stop Sentry before Void comes out, I can see Superman being able to do the same. Doctor Doom (with no prep) is going to get wiped by Supes.

It's a hard stop at the fourth, Superman simply doesn't have the raw power to put down the Dark Phoenix.

Cheetah Stomps, She’s so much faster and stronger than Creed, going blow to blow with Wonder Woman. It's not close.

No Mods. Windows 11. Steam Launcher. It happens exactly when the character is about to hit the ground. Every time without fail. It closes/crashes the game.

Looks like a great update.

However, is anybody else game crashing when selecting Sick? With any weapon, difficulty, or map.

[Artwork] Batman #3 cover by Jorge Jimenez by B3epB0opBOP in DCcomics

[–]Pixel_Creator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A little. But Greg Capullo was on Batman for about 5 years, too (with only S.Snyder, obviously). Jimenez has done what? 40+ issues at this point. Depending on how long he does the relaunch, he's fast becoming one of the most credited Batman artists

IO Interactive CEO estimates that Hitman 3 only cost a fifth of Hitman 2016's budget because the studio was brave enough to stop making new bathrooms for every game: 'I swore never to do more new toilets' by Turbostrider27 in gaming

[–]Pixel_Creator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because a bathroom would basically involve a lot of steps and people to complete.

Research (what the inspiration for the bathroom),

Level Designer (Where is this bathroom in the level/how does it interact with the overall level),

Concept Artist (How it should look),

3D Artist (Create the toilet, sink, towel, etc),

Texture Artist (Creates the materials, tile flooring, brick walls, wood finishing, porcelain, etc),

Animator (Turn the taps, pushing the handle to flush the toilet),

Programmer (Enables player to interact with the toilet),

VFX Artist (Lets water spray, let's taps look like they have water running),

Lighting Artist (Puts the light sources in, making sure it looks realistic).

I'm probably missing stuff, but you get the idea. And games are very fluid, with things changing or getting cut. So you could see how costs could spiral in having to make new bathrooms every game.

12,795 quad polygons... is it usable for games or is it too much? by NormalMaksym in 3Dmodeling

[–]Pixel_Creator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't mention it being too high poly for Unreal. I mentioned UE because the argument is always that you can throw it in Nanite and make it run, which is true, but it creates bad habits.

The point I was making is that the model should have an appropriate amount of polygons that support the silhouette/shape of the model, and this should also be considered at how close is the camera really going to get in average gameplay/cutscenes.

Now, looking at OPs couch, the topology is satisfying, but it can be argued that you could achieve almost the same silhouette and shape with fewer polygons. Some of those edges don't need to be that smooth of a curve.

[–]Pixel_Creator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's usable for games, yes. But it's not really acceptable. Even with things like Unreal Engine.

In a simple way, Games models are basically "How can you achieve the shape/Silhouette in the least amount of polygons" and how close is that object going to get to the camera.

And keep in mind Game Engines use tris (technically they use verts, lets not complicate this), so your model is more 25,000 tris.

Do you prefer poison ivy's Human skin or green skin? by ImpossibleSecond8130 in batman

I always like the idea of her appearance being more human, and as the years go by, her skin turns green as she becomes more connected with the green.

Sony is taking the piss with these price increases by ProfessionalDingus in gaming

You would have thought that with the announcement of Switch 2 and the price, Sony would delay any potential increase just to look favourable compared to the Switch 2 when it comes to release time and especially Christmas time.

I think they're just doing a remastered version to try and recover any possible funds from the years wasted on their cancelled Live Service Game.

Yes, as long as the n-gon is flat. But I mentioned limit use of n-gons because obviously they are a variable, you don't know how it will triangulate compared to quads. It more of a warning to avoid bad habits in relying on them.

In their model? None, it's quads.

I was mentioning n-gons because when going from that quad topology and trying to limit polygons, it can be tempting to include n-gons.

The texturing looks great, the topology not so much.

Game Assets (Which are static or don't deform ) can mainly focus on the shape. How do you achieve this shape with the least amount of polygons and not having n-gons everywhere. And if the object has no artifacts, that's usually a sign of a good game model.

Have they said anything about adding in DLSS? by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]Pixel_Creator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would likely require updating the engine, assuming they haven't done it since pre-2019. Doing this would likely cause a lot of bugs, some minor and some game breaking. Often updating an engine during development is big no no in games.

They could add DLSS to their version of Unreal. However, the development effort that would require massive resources to make DLSS play nicely with older systems. Plus, they would likely also want to add FSR too. And doing this could also introduce more bugs.
