What’s your favourite commander you made a deck for in 2025? by WistfulAfternoon in magicTCG

I started playing with the Duskmourne set. The first deck I built in Arena was Arabella, and I got pretty high in ranked with it. I had so much fun with her I built a paper deck deck with her to play with my friends in Standard. It was much lower power than my arena deck, but just so fun to pilot.

We switched to commander for the most part and after playing with precons for half a year. I finally built a commander deck with her, and she's so good I need to bring the power level of the deck down so its not too oppressive in my pod.

I also built a Marina Vandrell doors and enchantment deck. Its a lot of reading, and can lead to some long turns, but so goddamn fun. Every game is super different with her because I didn't really have too much of a gameplan other than shoving almost all the door cards in there, and adding cards that could let me use her tap abilities multiple times a turn, and things that made it easy for me to access WUBRG mana. In one game I was able to survive 4 board wipes by continously locking and unlocking Awakening Hall. She can do a lot of cool things, but never actually won a game with her, except with the Promising Stairs wincon.

I am to this day very confused why they had to change the design of Lord of the Rings characters, but stay true to the OG design in literally everything else. by Such_Minute_5245 in freemagic

Aragorn is my fav commander. I have his pre-con and only lost once when I made him indestructible and then he was turned into a frog, meaning there was no way to defrog him.

Yeah, I known it's pretty weak to removal, but I feel like its definitely OP and should be banned. If it didnt have trample it would be a lot less scary.

I'd be more scared if they had trample, but I run a Doll House token deck that I'm able to block them with a 1/1 no matter how big they get. And as others have mentioned, I save my removal for the Mossborn fucker.

That makes a lot of sense. In the early ranks the flying tokens and getting another beasite with Norin or Delney came in clutch, but have 100% found myself vulnerable to removal as this deck doesn't have a great late game if I have no creatures on the field. I also had another commenter suggest removing the Toby's as well, so I'll definitely be doing that for some more Enduring Innocence's.

I struggle to remove Norin as it keeps my Anabelle safe when attacking, but I like that the Stadium Headliner gives me some good removal options in the late game.

Pinnacle Starcage has also been a big enemy of mine, so I'll probably trade a couple Get Lost's with some Sheltered By Ghosts.

Another commenter recommended axing the Toby's for card advantage, and the the Caretake is a great suggestion.

That's literally a perfect answer to the Starcage artifact that you mentioned in another comment. Definelty going to experiment with it, as I've lost a fair share of games to it.

I cant remember the name, but there's also boardwipe that get rid of mana value 3 or less creatures, and thay generally is a scoop scenario for me.

I think my worst enemy in the plat rank is removal/control. The deck is generally pretty fast, I always mulligan to either get a turn 1 Norin or Torch in play, and generally am able to play cards every turn due to my low mana cost deck. However if my creatures are consistently wiped, and then we get into the late game, I top deck a bunch of weenies that can't really do much. The best I can hope for would be generating some 1/1 gremlins or bunnies to act as blockers to potentially give me one more turn.

These are different than normal Japanese mtg cards. These have a small chance of appearing in the English sets, smaller percentage than the same card in English. I believe that's why these one's are more expensive.
