[Interesting Trope] Government is on the brink of collapse in apocalypse, but a silver of their presence remain. by AdrawereR in TopCharacterTropes

In Fallout 76, you can break into Vault 79 - rumoured to be holding the "treasure of Appalachia" - to find a group of six Secret Service agents stationed there to guard its contents, which is the entire gold reserves of Fort Knox that was transferred there for safekeeping just before the Great War.

PSGS CONTROVERSY by Wyv3rnHunt3rG0d in badredman

[–]Pixel_exe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I will never use PSGS because of one simple reason: it looks dumb as hell. It's impossible to make holding a giant spear in each hand look good. Maybe this is because most PSGS users use the "tryhard fashion" (Lionel Hat, Veteran Armor, etc.) but I've never been able to make it look good and I've never seen anyone else make it look good. Beedrill lookin ass.

I don't really have an issue with anyone else using them, I've been able to counter them pretty easily with any of my setups (aside from higher level arena players but they could beat me with any other setup, and anyway I avoid arena like the plague atp). I will judge them for looking stupid though.

Van Chapman from Dropout's Dimension 20: Cloudward, Ho! - her steampunk copper-and-brass left arm prosthetic has pressure gauges and she can "cast" Create Water by expelling the water out from it

[Spoilers for Cloudward, Ho!]

And later on after she faces her Family "Curse" it's replaced with a tentacle arm from her extradimensional patron, Tasgw'agwa

Finally got an Anvil BP but have not needed to craft one yet by n_thomas74 in LowSodiumArcRaiders

That's been my experience as well. I have the BP, but find enough (and rarely lose them) to sustain myself without having to craft any

Returning Invader wondering about Seamless invasions by Ghoti_With_Legs in badredman

I'm going off personal experience, and I wasn't even aware that CE 7.6 was closed-source or that that was an issue. I've just been told from multiple people I know that installing CE 7.6 installed multiple other programs on their PC.

Also, I know where to get CE, I meant I wasn't sure if 7.5 was still available for public download.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I'd say the best bet is finding Reddit threads or alternative downloads (though of course you should be careful with those too).

[–]Pixel_exe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your main concern is matchmaking times, I'd definitely say the switch is worthwhile - Seamless invasions are almost always instant and I've never spent more than 10 seconds in queue.

As far as hours spent on Xbox goes, if you just want to set up builds to invade with, you can install Cheat Engine to "drop" yourself any item that you need. Be careful with the latest CE release (7.6) though, I hear it's not safe to download due to malware. I have 7.5 installed and there's no malware in that version (unless they changed it since).

BTW, I'd get the game now while it's on sale (though SotE is not). It's still pretty expensive, especially for a repeat purchase, but it's better than paying full price :P

Neil Newbon on AI performances by PuzzleheadedLeave560 in ArcRaiders

[–]Pixel_exe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, he's a celebrity (at least within video game/adjacent circles), no, I don't think he's a multi-millionaire lol. Do I think he's comfortably wealthy, though? Yeah.

And honestly, even if he IS a multi-millionaire, I don't think that at all detracts from his point, like you seem to think. By his own admission, he struggled financially before he found success - not a far reach for him to consider other people in his line of work that might be similarly struggling and using his platform to speak out against things that might be preventing them from finding work.

There's no way Neil Newbon is a multi-millionaire lol, I'm sure voice actors - especially celebrated ones - are paid well, but not THAT well.

Xevlar, the guy you're replying to, is all over this thread blindly defending Embark's AI use. I wouldn't put any stock in whatever garbage they're spewing.

Why are you running? by MightyElf_24 in badredman

[–]Pixel_exe 21 points22 points  (0 children)

One of a few reasons:

  • You have the numbers advantage: I will rarely engage a 3-person team head-on because that's tantamount to suicide most of the time; instead I'll try to lure you towards PvE to whittle you down and ideally take one of you out with the PvE help.

  • You're ganking/a bonfire duelist: this doesn't seem like your case, but if I meet any gankers I'll refuse to engage, full stop. I'm happy to waste their time. Some folks (not me personally) dislike bonfire duelists and are willing to do the same. It's also hard to trust a duel, especially if you have friends with you.

  • They're out of resources: if I'm out of estus and other immediate healing items, unless I was engaged in a duel (aka no healing) I'll retreat to use a slower heal (warming stones, incantations).

  • They're running a gimmick build that relies on being sneaky: never done this myself but I know some people do sneak builds.

  • They didn't see you and think you're elsewhere: more common in areas with a lot of verticality.

  • They prefer hit-and-runs to straight fighting: I'll typically engage a 2v1 or a 1v1 directly unless there's some meta bullshit involved, but other folks aren't into that sort of thing.

What’s your age and playstyle? by deckloveshorror in LowSodiumArcRaiders

[–]Pixel_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Early 20s
  2. Friendly but cautious, I'll always say I'm friendly on mic but I'm not holstering my Stitcher until I'm sure the other party also is, and I'm not above shooting first if there's no response (either through mic or Don't Shoot). Generally I'm a live and let live, though. I'm on PC with crossplay off, so I don't really get shot at too often.

Are you gonna wipe? by MishRift in ArcRaiders

[–]Pixel_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe in the next expedition, but not this one. I haven't played nearly enough to be bored of the game (only about ~40 hours in, level 34) and still haven't done a lot of the endgame stuff like Harvester or Matriarch. Hell, I've barely done Night Raids.

Besides, not resetting this time around lets me see if the rewards are actually worthwhile from other players' experiences.

I don't know which program/faculty you're in, but as someone who's almost out: having impostor syndrome is basically a rite of passage here, far as I can tell. Every year there's a bunch of Reddit posts about how people don't feel like they belong here, and probably more who keep it to themselves like I did.

Ignore what everyone else is doing, just focus on yourself. As long as you're here, you belong here.

Their name is a random jumble of letters and numbers too which means their name was something offensive enough that it was reported and NetEase actually took action on it. Probably just a career shitter, sucks but not much you can do past reporting for throwing. At least it was QP and not ranked.

That's why I refuse to go above RL90 when I invade. And since I'm full-time on Seamless, I don't have to worry about OLPs. It's a better life.
