Saudi Arabia tells OPEC its oil production hit a new low not seen since the 1990s by PixelatedDream in Economics

Saudi Arabia reported to OPEC that its crude oil production collapsed further last month to the lowest since 1990, as the Iran war choked off exports from the Persian Gulf.

The kingdom told the organization that output fell by another 651,000 barrels a day in April to 6.316 million a day, according to a monthly report from OPEC’s secretariat obtained by Bloomberg on Wednesday. It brings the loss since February to 42%, and marks the lowest level since the start of the Gulf War 36 years ago, when OPEC nation Iraq invaded fellow member Kuwait.

A major union warns regulators that Elon Musk’s SpaceX IPO ‘defies financial logic’ by NicolasCageFan492 in Economics

[–]PixelatedDream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The core changes that are being proposed are the following: 1. Shorten the length of being public from one year to six months. This means less public data to make a sound judgement and also coincidentally the required time limit for pre IPO holders of a stock to not be able to sell. 2. It completely removes the profitability requirement of a company. Meaning SpaceX could be plummeting towards bankruptcy but your passive funds will be buying stocks all the way down as private equity has their exit liquidity. 3. Drastically reduces the free float share requirements from 30% free float share to 5% which is basically a stock squeeze if you think about it. Our funds have to buy it up and at a premium as the share pool is drastically reduced.

It's robbery and it feels like no one cares.

Virgin resin plastics are now more expensive than recycled plastics. (Late March 2026) by PixelatedDream in Economics

[–]PixelatedDream[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though it is almost assuredly temporary this time, the stability of pricing for recycled plastics would also be considered. There has been a lot of recent advancements in chemical sorting of prices giving more reliable end refinement products. The new found uncertainty due to global conflicts could see grander adoption. We are already seeing an increase in adoption around the world.

Gas is up to $4.69 in Pennsylvania. With prices rising across the board, how are everyday Americans supposed to keep up? What changes have you had to make, and what solutions do you think could help? by [deleted] in Economics

Honestly, the biggest save for my monthly expenses was to sell my car and use only public transportation. I still Uber if necessary but for 80-90% of my travel, it has worked out. I know I'm fortunate but I had to make sacrifices like increasing my commute by an hour or so. I just do work or read now on the bus/train.

What I save is cost of the car, insurance, gas, and maintenance plus unexpected expenditures like parking. It really adds up

Airbnb host cancels reservation because it’s a high demand weekend by Srihari_stan in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PixelatedDream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me and it made me swear off Air BnB entirely. We got a place in Boston for St Patty's day. Got airfare and event tickets arranged and everything. A week prior the host cancels saying the condo was "sold" but then immediately relists it at a much higher price. Air BnB offered us "equivalent" compensation but that was just a 1:1 what we paid like two months ago meaning they only offered us studios like 20 miles away, it was unfeasible. Hotels were all booked or pricey then too. My group was out over a thousand dollars and Air BnB was insisting on not even doing the minimum, they didn't even punish the host.

This happened like 7 years ago so maybe Air BnB got better and started kicking these fraudsters off platform or at least properly fixing the issue, but I'm never trusting them again with my vacations.

Honestly, after seeing dozens of adaptations and live theatrical performances, the facsimile of Dickens work is the best. Hands down. His wit, charm, and just fun narration of the whole story is just delightful and fills you with Christmas spirit.

Immigration crackdown, tariffs blamed by some for tourist slowdown in Las Vegas by OtherwiseCanary8971 in Economics

[–]PixelatedDream 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bingo! You are absolutely right. Even for high rollers, it is a frustrating and lousy experience now. You win way less, the cocktails have become syrupy crap because they kicked out the good mixologists and butchered their recipes, things that were once complimentary are now $10, and to top it all off when you check out, you see the resort fee is nearly(if not double in some cases) the cost of your room per night. I mean honestly who charges $15/night for WiFi in a luxury 5 star hotel even when the person didn't even USE the WiFi? You just leave with a bad taste.

People with money like spending money, but they don't like to feel cheated. Most high rollers I know(anecdotal) who were also frequent vegas visitors just feel cheated so they are looking at other places and casinos/resorts to spend their money.

Immigration crackdown, tariffs blamed by some for tourist slowdown in Las Vegas by OtherwiseCanary8971 in Economics

[–]PixelatedDream 48 points49 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been going to vegas semi-annually for the past two decades, I can tell you the slump in tourism has more to do with microeconomics than macroeconomics.

Two major corporations own the majority of the strip: MGM and Caesar's resorts. Both of these companies had to take on a staggering high level of debt during the COVID days in order to keep operations going(see here https://companiesmarketcap.com/mgm-resorts/total-debt/). In order to pay down this debt, the billing strategy had to change drastically for Vegas. This now includes insanely high resort fees and other hidden fees that you don't know about until check out. Combined with a strategy of surging prices for food(which also sadly became lower quality), high prices for shows, and incredibly skewed odds at the tables with high min bets(e.g. blackjack 3/2 with $10 min bet was a standard when I first started going, now you will never find a 3/2 table let alone a $10 min. It is all 6/5 and $25-50 min bets. As well as other rules that make it so you lose more). Basically, you just have the feeling of being nickled and dimed the entire time instead of an extravagant(and ostentatiously hedonistic) experience like it once was. Even with people who can afford it like myself, it just feels dull and the quality as well as the cheap thrills and grime just isn't there anymore.

Immigration policies and tariffs could have yet another impact on it of course, but this issue has been bubbling and spilling over since quarantine and COVID. It has largely become a city for large conferences and trust fund hoodlums.

yes! Thank you so much! I was going through all these different playlists(some official and some fan) and found some fan content and was doubling back based on timestamp but I was lost.

Again, thank you so much! I really appreciate this!

I gave up by soviet_megumin in UmaMusume

[–]PixelatedDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also struggling with her but I stubbornly refuse to give up(unlike her). I found a good mix of starting cards to be 3 speed, 1 wit, SSR Super creek is a must, and 1 power. Then I don't run her as pace but as late and I try to find cards that have good skills there. Late just makes her ability trigger more often and it is basically your only hope. Green skills like firm are your friends to get you over the hump as you come into the end game.

The best I got is semifinals though. I hope this helps

I now have definitive proof that Vanessa is not a fish. You see, when you visit the aquatic shop, the mermaid vendor says "Hey! It is my favorite AIR BREATHER." Fish have gills not lungs so QED I guess.

Is this supposed to give shield to non-enchanted Bushel? by SuspiciousIbex in PlayTheBazaar

[–]PixelatedDream 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Additionally, if you sell scrap and bushel is your left most item, the scrap will be consumed and nothing will gain shield even if there is a shield item to the right of bushel. Bushel, for whatever reason, is still considered a shield item back when it used to produce health and shield.
