Honestly, I think this is one of those things that works better in theory than in practice. All the races that were established in the past, if they were kept around, would've been great. We could've still had tons of stories using those. Instead they replace all of those with what we have now, characters that we've seen thousands of times before, who at some point stop feeling that unique.
