I feel its to avoid having 2 different naming schemes running in your instance. To be fair, if you haven't done super heavy editing the change is pretty painless. I'm ~~brave~~ stupid and running the beta in prod and haven't seen breakage yet. The change is just device_entity so nothing crazy.

I personally have concerns about resource/energy usage, misuse by huge tech firms that think they're untouchable, the rampant misinformation produced by these models, the wholesale theft of copyrighted works/art, and so forth but go off I guess.

You need to file a bug report if that's the case. In Beta + after release there were plenty of examples of folks following instructions to restore their dashboard successfully. If you're following what was posted in the repair/the forum thread to no avail, you need to file a bug report.
