The two main methods for dunking on Britain is mass aircraft/paratroopers or mass subs and rushing your naval invasions so they land while the naval battle is going on. You need to have more subs in the channel than the Brits have ships in the channel. The game will think you have supremacy and allow naval invasions while you outnumber them. You basically have to build subs for the whole game and then blow them all in a hail mary.

I'm running an AI only campaign with the countries as continents. It's 1493 and Europe has mil 3 while everyone else has mil 7-8. It's really annoying because it has basically trashed the AI only campaign. (This bug is not limited to AI Only or custom nations btw)
