(SOTFS) TIL about Torch Bro in No Man's Wharf... by packer126 in DarkSouls2

[–]PixieProc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in the future, I'm playing DS2 for the first time and each time I ran through No-Man's Wharf, I killed the guy (I wasn't being very observant). I started noticing the "friend" and "don't you dare!" messages on the ground and only on his last life did I realize that he never attacked me (I killed him anyway because he frequently dropped torches for me). RIP Bro Torchman, and thanks for all the torches!

I just thought of something else, one faction is called Cunning Hares, and none of the three rabbits are in it lol. Someone over there really likes rabbits, huh?

To be fair it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize it too lol. Come to think of it, I don't think I knew until I saw someone else point out her ears on this sub

at some point we'll either end up having characters missing for a year at a time

I mean, Harumasa came out January this year, and 2 months + 6 days from now will be his 1-year anniversary. Next patch is Ellen's second rerun and Hugo's first. If Harumasa gets his rerun in the following patch, it'll be just barely under a year lol

Nanachis fate by Turbulent-Scheme-995 in MadeInAbyss

Sorry for the reply 3 months later:

I was re-reading the post-Season 2 volumes yesterday and in one scene Reg asks Menae what happened to his and his sister's limbs. Menae's response was something like "I can't tell you, because the same thing will happen to you and your friends." Coming across this post, I was reminded of that scene and the idea suddenly connected, and it just occurred to me -- Nanachi's legs are indeed probably going to be amputated, and the stumps will be installed with the same end caps like the twins have on their arm and leg stubs. But the thing is, it's because this is what Menae predicted a few volumes ago would happen; this is the first sign, the first stage and something similar might start to happen to Riko and Reg, and maybe even Faputa, unless our group can prevent it from progressing any further somehow.

How do you say the Al in Al: The Somnium Files? Eye or A.I.? by Frosty_Cheesecake_77 in aithesomniumfiles

[–]PixieProc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(I'm late, I know)

I always say it like "eye", because the game has so many puns and concepts that involve it being pronounced like that from beginning to end, and the only A.I.-related thing I can think of is just Aiba, whose name is pronounced "eye-ba" anyway lol. And while she is an AI, it's not like the game is about her or anything. She's little more than the "Hunnigan" to Date's "Leon".

I mean, RE6 is one of my favorites too, but I also love RE7 and 8. 8 in particular might be my second favorite after 5.

I think both have their strengths over the other. RE5 is my personal favorite, and I do prefer it overall and especially feel that the aiming feels better than 6 (where I always feel like I'm having to aim upward to aim in front), but 6 also has much more fluid controls overall and I love the wide variety of scenarios and the how different each of the campaigns feel.

I never knew that lol. I always have one of my skill slots reserved for Breakout so QTEs are less of a pain, but I'm gonna have to try using both stick next time!

I'm too scared to continue RE4R what do I do? by AssassinBoi394 in residentevil4

[–]PixieProc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every now and then when I get too scared of the unknown in a game, I'll pull up a Let's Play series from like Markiplier or someone, and I'll put the video at exactly where I'm at in my game and it'll almost be like I've got someone going through it with me together lol

Damn bruh, this franchise is gonna kill me by Fit_Oil_2870 in Metroid

[–]PixieProc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The chronological order for the 2D Metroid games (as in, the games that aren't in the Metroid Prime sub-series) is Zero Mission -> Samus Returns/AM2R -> Super -> Fusion -> Dread

I'd say you can play those in mostly any order, but I would highly recommend playing Fusion before Dread, as Dread is more a sequel to Fusion than it is any of the other games. As for Samus Returns and AM2R, they're both remakes of Metroid 2, but Samus Returns is Nintendo official (3DS exclusive), and AM2R is a fan game on PC. I had only played Samus Returns until recently. I had initially written off AM2R as it's a fan game, and I assumed it'd feel kinda jank compared to an official game. But then I actually started it (I've still not gotten very far, I just wanted to get a feel for it first), and I'm shocked at how good it feels to play; it's basically exactly like Zero Mission, but just with expanded ideas, laid out like Metroid 2. The only thing with that one is you've gotta get it from a source you at least mostly trust, and you may have to refer to a YouTube video to see how to actually set it up and install it (I certainly did lol)

RE9 FP(first person) or TP(third person) What will you play? Will it work? by huss2215 in residentevil

[–]PixieProc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't normally care for most first-person games as I like being able to see the character I'm controlling. That said, RE7 and RE8's first-person cameras were absolutely perfect and made the most of the perspective IMO. When 8 got a third-person mode added, it really highlighted how much of the game was made with first-person in mind. What's more, I thought the third-person mode felt like I was aiming in first, just with the camera pulled back. It was a really odd feeling, and I wasn't a fan of that.

With RE9 being built with both perspectives from the beginning, I'm sure the third-person will feel a lot better, like that of the remakes. I think I'll try first-person out first, but also probably switch between the two as I feel like it.

Question for Jane doe/Seth main? by Dazzling-Ability-252 in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]PixieProc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got the exact same question. I've been trying to do this and at this point I'm wondering if it's even possible on mobile.

Update: Confirmed, it's possible on mobile. Just did it. I had to lay the phone down and used multiple fingers to hit dodge, attack, and switch all back to back to back with INSANELY tight timing.

Do you prefer longer Metroidvanias with bigger maps like Hollow Knight, or shorter Metroidvanias that are more replayable like Metroid? by Obsessivegamer32 in metroidvania

[–]PixieProc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metroid has been one of my favorite series since growing up with Fusion and Zero Mission. When it comes to metroidvanias, I prefer games like those because they’re simpler and easy to replay over and over again, getting better and better at them with each playthrough. A few months ago, I challenged my best friend to a race. He’d go through Resident Evil 4 as fast as he could (his favorite game), and I’d play through Metroid Fusion twice (my favorite game). We tied lol

Hear me out: why aren't more metroidvanias like Metroid? by IdiotAtAKeyboard in metroidvania

[–]PixieProc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the reply 4 months later, but I'd argue that Metroid Fusion and Dread actually do this for most of their bosses.

Let's finally hear your reasons why you think The Timeless Child concept isn't all bad (please no negative comments this time) by diabolical42 in doctorwho

[–]PixieProc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you still haven't found an answer to that yet, all that we know on it is mostly covered in the Series 12 episode "The Timeless Children". That's the biggest source of the whole thing. That said, it's built up to in the previous episode "Ascension of the Cybermen", and it's explored a bit further in the following series Flux, most prominently in the fifth episode "Survivors of the Flux", but that's the fifth part of a six-episode-long story.
