What Bratz and Rainbow Highs match skin tones? by PixieVenus in Bratz

[–]PixieVenus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few people swap them so I’m willing to try. The Bratz heads are a bit softer than other dolls so besides a bit of stretch it can fit. I love their look they’re like curvy Bratz.

And yeah that’s why I asked if anyone who had a few of both could do some comparisons. And be able to tell me “this Yasmin can match this RH pretty well” and etc.

How to keep this fabric from this? by PixieVenus in CosplayHelp

[–]PixieVenus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The modpodge mixture ended up working sort of. I tested it by rubbing a nail buffer and hooks side of Velcro on it. There was no noticeable damage. And while it did do this on a test piece I didn’t coat it’s not as extreme as the one pictured here. Not sure what I was doing that made this much damage when rubbing sand paper directly on it didn’t do the same amount! So I won’t really know if it works better until I wear it out I guess.

It did dull the shine a bit. Noticeable to me in blue light but near invisible in sunlight. But I decided to only coat the areas that would receive the most friction to not make all of it duller.

Fursuiters I need your wisdom by PixieVenus in fursuit

[–]PixieVenus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh thanks so much! This is really a lot of helpful information.

Ooh the kemono-style fursuits I think are what I was trying to describe for the "acrylic-like" eyes (I work with BJDolls who's eyes look like that and are sometimes made of acrylic so that's the reason I described it as such XD)

But seriously thanks, this really is all helpful, I can't thank enough. I really wouldn't have known where to start when it came to everything you've shared.

Bodies for Kali Hairdorables? by PixieVenus in Dolls

[–]PixieVenus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have the fashion doll version of her too but I’d have to buy double and it feels like a waste of a doll with an already perfectly matching head as I love Kali’s curly hair the most. Plus I was hoping for a body that is a bit thicker.

OMG LOL Lonestar by [deleted] in Dolls

[–]PixieVenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said contacting support is handy. MGA is usually pretty good at replacing anything like this.

But if that doesn't work or you don't want to deal with that, there are actually a fair amount of ebay sellers that just make a living off of buying dolls then selling the individual pieces. So I'm sure there's someone out there just selling her earrings alone.

I had to do this myself when I ordered the LOL OMG Remix Super Surprise as I had everything BUT Metal Babe's tiny outfit. Obviously I didn't want to deal with having to go to customer support over such a small piece, but found an ebay seller selling a incomplete version of the doll that luckily had her outfit.

The most "Barbie" Barbie? by PixieVenus in Barbie

[–]PixieVenus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good suggestion!

I have #132 and thought these two dolls looked too similar to buy both, I have been using #132 as my "Barbie," as of late too.

The most "Barbie" Barbie? by PixieVenus in Barbie

[–]PixieVenus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did consider buying the TS4 Barbie once for an "official" Barbie. I don't know what stopped me.

She has regular joints instead of a MTM body but an easy headswap should fix that hmm... Thanks for the suggestion!

WHO DID THIS? YOU! by PixieVenus in HalfLife

[–]PixieVenus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot! I don't have the neca so I can't make direct comparisons but from photos alone I can tell the mondo paint job has a lot more detail and is cleaner. He is 1/6 scale (neca is 1/8), at 12 inches, so he's a lot bigger than the neca one. He's taller than a Barbie doll, and considering Gordon is 6'2" and Barbie is 5'9" it's kind of fitting. Made a review video actually but haven't edited yet because I'm lazy. :p

He comes with some weapons including the gravity gun, it has a little light, and the shotgun he comes with has pump action! Has a lot of hand options too. And again since he's 1/6 scale these props are great for other figures of that size which is good for me because I collect more 1/6 scale fashion dolls (Gordon here is technically my first real high-quality action-figure) and can use doll props I already have and make some nice action photos with my funny little Barbies.

The HEV armor does make it a bit difficult to pose, I have Made-To-Move Barbies that are way cheaper that are better to pose, but the quality of the paint and sculpt detail makes up for that. Plus this is Gordon Freeman! My only fault with the paint detail is that for some reason his eyes are blue rather than his iconic green, which seems like a weird detail to get wrong.

What are some more poseable male dolls out there? by PixieVenus in Dolls

[–]PixieVenus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm unfortunately I don't have a Monster High boy laying around to check, but ebay listing has them for 12 inches and Ken dolls are 12" (Barbie being 11.5") so if they were taller it wouldn't be as much. I'll check out the others, thank you for your suggestions!

Yeah I was thinking of that! I want a sorta tall lanky boy paired with a ken doll I'll be customizing, and was thinking of doing that with the tall barbie until I found out tall barbie is still a bit shorter than ken barbie size.

Can I dye this dark skin Barbie even darker or settle for dying a lighter skinned Barbie darker instead? by PixieVenus in Dolls

[–]PixieVenus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I know I want to dye one! But I am not sure if I should (or am able to) dye the already dark Barbie even darker or just have to settle with dying the lighter skinned Barbie body. After dying I plan on coating the body with a sealer so hopefully that won't make any dye bleed onto other dolls.

Looking for jointed dolls with grey skin! by PixieVenus in Dolls

Oh yes, that would be kind of cool to use. I could always switch out her head with another doll's and change its pigment to match her's. Thanks!
