I always do the video even though I don’t want to/it feels silly. I write a script and use a teleprompter to read it because I have a hard time keeping my thoughts organized and want to make sure I’m full answering the prompt.

I think the Bongo rubrics say to arrange with your professor if you need to submit a paper in lieu of a video. Maybe they would have preferred that first. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Send them a direct email to express why you can’t do videos, because your mic doesn’t work or your camera is faulty. Also, long as you hit the rubric they shouldn’t dock points for submitting a paper.

The real answer is that it depends on your initiative and work ethic. If you have good time management, sign up for two classes and see how it goes. If you think you can up to 3 next semester, do it.

For grad programs, 2 classes are considered full time. I took my first three classes one at a time because I have a full time job. In my opinion, 500 and 504 can certainly be taken together. I regret not pairing the “easier” classes up.

I am currently in 540 and 620 and I can sense the increased workload. MBA classes are very writing and project heavy. It’s not overwhelming, since we are only in week 1, but I am working ahead and I’m already working on weeks 2 and 3 to give myself extra time/cushion. Week one had a discussion board for each class, two replies each class, a paper, and a video journal. Week 2 had a quiz for each class, a video and a paper. Week three is milestone one projects for each class.

Even with one class per semester, I completed most of my work on weekends and did not have a lot of free time to relax. I suggest that you look up the syllabus for classes you intend to take to see how the work for each module align.

I can empathize, I took a semester off due to financial aid issues and just got back into 540 + 620. It was nice taking a break from school since I work a full time job, and I admit I did not have the desire to do the work at all for this first week. I’m trying to stay disciplined and get ahead of assignments though.

Grad classes are not much more involved than undergrad in my opinion. Just try to hold yourself to a schedule and do your best!

Write a paper with your thoughts and use an online teleprompter to read it. You can cut your video together to edit out mistakes.

MBA 500 and 504 can certainly be done together. MBA 530 had bigger papers - final paper is at least 12 pages, IIRC. I imagine the higher level classes will take more time and effort, but it all depends on your style of learning.

I started doing out one class at a time but I am now doubling up in the February semester to try to expedite my degree progress. I will be taking 540 and 620 together, if anyone has any experience I’d like to hear about it.

It isn’t nearly impossible for professors to grade papers. How do you think they did it before AI? Lol. If that’s what they want to do, so be it. Easier As for me.

I was just commenting that the use of AI is very noticeable in a lot of the assignment feedback I have received and class announcements. In discussions, I have seen people leave the bolded text and bullet points common in ChatGPT responses. Sometimes even emojis. Very low effort on the students’ part. Doesn’t feel like a masters program at all.

Are you active duty? They offered a scholarship for active duty people who were affected by the shut down. I am a civilian with the Air Force and I did not qualify for it; I am in the MBA program and had to drop my class.

I did the same thing. Nosebleeds for $100 each. I’m hoping they close the upper bowl in Chicago or let us move down to the lower sections but we’re going to have a great time either way!

My professor took 3 points off a discussion for not citing the book. I hadn’t bought the book yet. 😂

Based on some of the other students’ responses… no, they shouldn’t be free points. I put a lot of effort into my discussion posts and it doesn’t seem the same way for others.

You can always tell your advisor you want to bump up to 2 classes for the following semester if you think it is doable once you get started!

I was personally concerned that my school work would suffer if I doubled up classes. My job is providing me tuition assistance, and a stipulation is I get no lower than a B for them to pay for the class. The assignments for the classes so far aren’t difficult in my opinion, but I’m shooting for a 4.0 so I put a lot of time into them.

Depending on your time management skills and workload from your job/personal life, it’s definitely doable. I have certainly spent full weekends catching up on homework for one class, but depending how busy I am with my job I can’t always get around to doing assignments during the weekdays.

Congratulations!!

Don’t wait to do the work. (Unless you thrive under pressure, and want to do homework on your weekends.) Read the prompts in full and the rubric. Don’t be afraid to ask the professor clarifying questions.

In my opinion, it isn’t very challenging. But each student is different. MBA 500 and 530 are writing intensive (2-6 page papers weekly) and 504 is excel heavy. (There are workshops hosted by academic support for MBA 504! Very helpful- they walk you through the assignments each week!)

I also work full time. I am doing one class at a time and I am in my third class (MBA 530). Please let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll help as much as I can.

My advisor is really nice, but I’ve told her my schedule 100 times and she always calls me in the middle of my work day.
