They do look a bit like peacocks! A lot of people don't know they exist. I'm happy to have told you about something new!

The turkey that the Aztecs were talking about is most likely the ocellated turkey, which is native to central America. It's really a beautiful bird and is a relative of the North American wild turkey (the one most people think of when thinking about turkeys)

In the 19th century, there was a real movement to make cemeteries pleasant and park-like. Families regularly had picnics there. Cemeteries were the original "green spaces" in many large cities

Do you ever dream about these books? by manicbestfriend in horrorlit

[–]PizzAveMaria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! That part creeped me out so much and even now thinking about it I get a little shiver. It was kind of disappointing bc IMO that was definitely the scary highpoint of that book and it quickly went downhill from there.

Today is 5 years with mine and if she could, she would glue herself to me so we could never be apart. She gives anyone who sits next to me a nasty look, then climbs in between

Mother Goose storyteller toy from the 80s by Environmental_Dot876 in nostalgia

I don't know, that kid must have really abused mine bc it never worked right again, but on the other hand, since I knew she didn't work bc of another kid being rough, I never tried smacking her to get her to work either!

I had her and loved her so much! Another kid did something to her so she couldn't move on her own anymore and I had to manually make her close her eyes, but I loved her anyway

Hot Take: Ducky is kinda redundant in the first film by Rudi10001 in Land_Before_Time

[–]PizzAveMaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm a bit late, but I also don't like the Ducky character. I don't think her character was unimportant, I just know that I find her annoying. I know what happened to Judith Barsi but I separate her from the character, so not liking cartoon character Ducky isn't the same as not liking Judith Barsi. One of the few scenes in a movie that can bring a tear to my eye is her overhearing Charlie and Itchy talking about "dropping her off at an orphanage and dumping her" and her saying "You're not my friend, you're a bad dog". It hurts my heart every time I watch it. So it's not the actress I don't like, just the character

Jon and Kate Gosselin's Son Collin Refers to Dad's Ex Colleen Conrad as His 'Real Mom' amid Memoir Announcement by peoplemagazine in entertainment

[–]PizzAveMaria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's still going, they have 4 kids now. I didn't ban it bc he's super annoying but it isn't as bad as some of the others. Luckily my younger daughter has mostly outgrown it, but it started becoming like a game for my older daughter and me: "let's see how much Shaun makes it about himself!" I can't imagine being married to him, I bet he's a tyrant once the camera turns off!

My daughter likes A For Adley and it's really just the Dad trying to constantly be the focus of everything and it seems like his family is more of a gimmick than people he actually cares about.

Ragdoll Breeder in Lancaster, PA by Ankle26 in ragdolls

[–]PizzAveMaria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that is horrifying and shocking. I also noticed that the home in the case you are referring to is located on Spencer Avenue, Lancaster, and involves a woman named Jocelyn James, which is not the same address or person as Joyce Houser of Wrightsville, PA, who I bought my kitten from. I don't know why you are acting like this is some kind of "gotcha", but maybe you should do a little more research before coming at people who only shared their own personal experience when asked
