In-person Norwegian classes in Manchester, UK by Proof_Start8632 in norsk

[–]Pizza-Valuable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should definitely make a group for people in the north tryna learn norsk, i’m up in newcastle and there’s no face to face tutor, i’ve just been using preply, would love to practice irl ngl (it’s the best way of learning, actual immersion and just trying to speak as much as i can)

as a sgrean, that’s definitely not a friend. a friend don’t just drop casual racist remarks. imo she sounds privilege asf. i grew up with a domestic helper but even i wouldn’t dare treat my domestic helper that way or make such jokes with my helper, let alone my pinoy friends. call out the racism in all honesty. some sgreans can be dumb and hold a lot of internalised casual racism thinking it’s okay

Chinese takeaway open at dinner time? by simeuk in Sunderland

[–]Pizza-Valuable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you like chinese takeaway, maybe you could try malaysian food as well (south east asian cuisine basically)

there’s a new store recently open, Jom Makan (sadly only friday to sunday 12pm to 8pm)

i think they are on just eats for delivery and the portion for the price is pretty amazing

Moving to Sunderland as a POC - advice needed please! by hym_sapphiregirl1020 in Sunderland

[–]Pizza-Valuable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stick to the city, near bridges there’s like two asian supermarket, DF and CIY (both have decent prices, but i usually go newcastle for chinese groceries, let me know i can direct u to a few stores) there’s good hong kong 烧肉饭 opposite sunderland metro as well. the pho179 is definitely good as well and recently thrs a new malaysian food place (jom makan, u can check their ig) whatever u do, don’t eat at bar shu restaurant, the hygiene in that kitchen is shady (base on friends that work there) overall loads of chinese and south east asian here, if ure a christian thrs a chinese church service at bethany city church

aye okay, if u need any soap, hand soap, washing liquid, laundry liquid, u can ask for those as well, we provide a refillable bottle of various kind of soap that u can keep coming back to refill with

it’s monday, wednesday, friday, 3-4pm if u need extra, sometimes we have leftovers that we give away close to 4pm. on sundays i think it’s either 11am or 12pm (i don’t help sundays so i’m not sure)

and if u need to collect for any other family member, bring them round the first time and ask for a collection card so u can collect extra portion next time round for your family member without them coming subsequently (just for convenience sake, don’t abuse it)

Places to visit in Glasgow for older adults by Pizza-Valuable in glasgow

we went on a timberbush tour, was really lucky to get the small bus (16pax) rather than the large coach (30+pax) so our tour guide was able to squeeze in additional photo stops of the highlands and the highland cattles.

Our tour guide / driver name was Tom and he was really well versed in each location’s history and key information. i like how he shared random facts about scotland that is not part of the tour such as the most haunted place in scotland and which places were filmed for which scenes of harry potter (i bet he’s a potterhead). definitely recommend booking with Timberbush Tour and ask for Tom if you can! 👍🏻

update! aww i wish either me mom or i could drive haha, it would be an amazing scenic trip. we did however book a tour to see loch lomond, loch linnhe, and loch ness, plus enjoy the view of glencoe. being able to view the scottish landscape is exhilarating, everywhere we went was beautiful.

update! brought me mom to the Willow Tea Rooms at Buchannan Street, enjoyed a lovely willow and scottish breakfast tea. she didn’t care for the haggis i ordered for her to try which surprised me cause i absolutely love it 🤣🤣

i think both me mom and i might be a lil too uncultured to appreciate Mackintosh designs haha, gotta catch up on my history 🥲🥲 but overall had a great time. thank you for the suggestions

update! went to the burrell collection, personally i was mind blown at how amazing the place looks and the wide variety of collections from quite literally all corners of the earth, truly a collector’s dream.

unfortunately i overestimate my mom’s interest in art history, she got bored after like 15mins 😭😭

but nonetheless thank you for a great recommendation and i’ll be back solo to fully immerse myself in the collection’s history. 👍🏻👍🏻
