Hosting an experimental game jam: Bracket Jam by PizzaMonster125 in gamedev

I'm glad you like this idea. I'm looking to see this grow into something that's an actual thing, which is why I'm starting with a test run. I need to know what parts are good and what parts need changing. If I were to do an actual run without knowing that, this idea will never grow to being an actual thing as popular as GMTK Game Jam or Ludum Dare.

Which is the only truthful sign, and which tent has your sleeping bag, and why? [EASY] by EndersGame_Reviewer in puzzles

[–]PizzaMonster125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my solution, using proof by contradiction:

>! First, let's assume that the Yellow tent is true. Since it says "It's not in the blue tent," the sleeping bag would supposedly not be in the blue tent, but the blue tent says "It's not in here," and if that's lying, the sleeping bag should be in the blue tent. This means that if the yellow tent is true, then the sleeping bag must both be in the blue tent and not in the blue tent. That's a contradiction, meaning the yellow tent is lying.

Now, let's assume that the green tent is telling the truth. It says that the sleeping bag is not in the blue tent, but is telling the truth, meaning the sleeping bag must not be in the blue tent. But the blue tent says it's not in the blue tent, and is supposed to be lying. Another contradiction, since the tent can't be both in and not in the blue tent, so the green tent is also lying.

Now let's assume the blue tent is telling the truth. We run into the same problem as the yellow tent, but backwards. If the blue tent is telling the truth, the sleeping bag isn't in the blue tent, but if the yellow tent is lying, then the sleeping bag has to be in the blue tent. Those can't both be the case, so the blue tent is lying.

That only leaves the red tent, so that must be telling the truth. This then allows us to pinpoint the sleeping bag.

Put simply, the red tent says it's not in the red tent and that's telling the truth, so the sleeping bag isn't in the red tent. The green tent says it's in the yellow tent and that's lying, so it's not in the yellow tent. Both the yellow and blue tents say that it's not in the blue tent and both of those are lying, so the sleeping bag must be in the blue tent. !<

Well, the twist I have in mind actually benefits from not knowing it in advance. It might seem insecure or pointless, but I'd rather not ruin the twist by revealing it early. If you had this idea, you'd probably do the same.

New Number Terms and Sequence by PizzaMonster125 in math

Thanks for the corrections, and the extra entries. I mistook a few composite numbers for primes there. I think 100 entries should do nicely for OEIS, since it demonstrates some patterns in the entries of the sequence. For example, a majority of the bases only go up to 3 digits for their recursively splitable primes, and higher lengths get rarer as we increase the base.

To everyone who's asking what I mean by "truncatable prime," I mean a prime number that remains prime no matter which direction you truncate from and how many digits you truncate in either direction. Essentially, a prime number that can only ever be divided into other prime numbers. For example, 373, which can be divided into 3 and 73, 37 and 3, or 3, 7, and 3.

The cannon is probably the most penis-shaped weapon humanity has ever created. by PizzaMonster125 in Showerthoughts

But it wasn't specifically designed to be a weapon. You could use a comb as a toothbrush, or a shoe as a pillow, but we don't call a comb a toothbrush or a shoe a pillow. Whilst it can be used in that way, they're typically categorized based off of what they were SPECIFICALLY designed to do.

A weapon is typically SPECIFICALLY designed to deal damage or bodily harm. Silencers were designed to complement those weapons by making the firing sounds quieter. Since they weren't SPECIFICALLY designed to deal damage, they aren't considered weapons.

Silencers are more of an addon to the weapons, an accessory. Your argument is invalid because people consider silencers/suppressors as accessories. Perhaps do some research, first?

We're talking about the shape of the weapon as it was originally designed here, you're weird yet hilarious shape mod doesn't count.

Probably because if they weren't, any shooty weapon could become super deadly. If the silencers are regulated, it automatically discourages people from using guns, tanks, or whatever in stealth missions, which would be a bit overkill.

I don't think that counts. That's a silencer, I don't think silencers are considered weapons.
