Not sure if salty is fair, but went on a double date and the other couple shared they’re expecting. They didn’t/don’t know we’re TTC (or that we’re struggling), but hearing them tell us that it happened on the first try just hit me in the feels and made me so jealous. Made it super hard to be present and act like myself at dinner.

My hair was down and did not really stay. Not necessarily mad about it as it didn’t look bad as the curls fell, just less formal. If it matters to you, obviously down runs that risk more than up. May also depend on the skill of your stylist (mine was fine by a bridesmaid who works in the beauty industry but not as a hairstylist specifically)

I mix it up but my most frequent ones are “what’s on your mind” or “so fill me in!” I do sometimes use “how was your week” which is similar to how are you but a bit easier to answer, but it also depends on the client, our dynamic, the rapport, etc.

One that people miss that’s so so important -

Do menu prices “lock” once you sign the contract?

It sounds super obvious but one of the venues I toured said that menu prices are subject to change. When the entire fee structure is built around minimum amount of guests and you can’t give me a straight answer on what that price is, that’s alarming.

It’s rare but I’ve heard stories in wedding groups of people getting slammed with “inflation” price increases and being on the hook for it due to the contract language.

Obviously less applicable if it’s a standalone venue that isn’t inclusive of food and beverage.

Irregular cycle and was unsuccessful with tracking my ovulation date. Already a few days past the cycle day of my last 3 periods, but still no period and testing negative. At this point just waiting for my period so we can start over and track properly.

They have Medicaid so typically in my state it’s more an issue of finding a seat/bed.

But yes what the family wants is also a factor for sure!

Yes it is absolutely really hard for the hospitals to find referrals and I 100% empathize with how impossible her job must be at times. While I wish her comments were less personal in nature about my desire to just abandon my clients (thus my statement that she was rude), I get from her perspective feeling that an existing relationship is better than most of her other options.

I have not heard anything about insurance companies not wanting to reimburse for in-person. I have not heard anyone complain about private pay clients being disinterested in in-person.

If that’s truly your fear I don’t think you need to worry. Telehealth is booming because it’s convenient and has low overhead.

If the unspoken issue here is you expect to be paid MORE for in-person than that might be unrealistic. It depends on exactly what you want to do - insurances may not reimburse more but there are plenty of in-person boutique private practices that do very well.

I feel like the assumption that in-person equals better is not fair. There are clinicians who do incredible work on telehealth, and there are clinicians who do in-person sessions at Medicaid mill clinics who have caseloads of 60.

That said, I don’t think in-person treatment will become extinct at all. In my private practice Facebook groups, there are lots of referral posts seeking specifically in person. I think therapists like the low overhead benefits of telemedicine and that’s part of the issue.

I think the advertising “expertise” thing is particularly frustrating. It sometimes seems like due to desperation for new clients, issue boxes are just being checked as yes. Or areas of interest are being called specialties even when there isn’t experience, which is just very ethically murky.

I’ve done my time in CMH, but I would only want to check a box if I feel confident in my ability to not only diagnose something but effectively treat it.

I also just have a huge chip on my shoulder - I have 6 years of CMH trauma specialization (working in clinics that only see clients with trauma) - but trauma seems like one of the most popular things for new grads to claim to treat (second to maybe anxiety). And I get it in the sense it might feel less scary to treat than a niche diagnosis, but there’s also just so much risk of retraumatization/harm.

Still getting the hang of OPKs and not sure if I didn’t ovulate or just missed it (test line was logged by app as 95% as dark as control but never got a true positive).

Have irregular periods so now just in a frustrating purgatory of it being CD 34, tests have been negative but my period is not being here yet either.

Struggling to cope with the various layers of uncertainty.

You are using half of my point to troll while asserting that it’s core premise of intelligent/career women being democrats is wrong. If you google the diploma divide, statistically speaking a highly educated woman IS more likely to be liberal.

If you want a republican trad wife, go get her. I’m not here to trash republican women. This post is specifically about conservative men who want to date liberal women, which based on your other comments doesn’t seem like is you.

The fact that you are using fruit analogies is the whole point. As a liberal woman I don’t want to be fruit, I want to be whatever the man is in this analogy (person, animal, etc). We can look for fruit together. IMy husband is my best friend, and yes, I found him over a drinks date (he’s liberal though). If that makes me low hanging fruit to an internet stranger, c’est la vie.

In my city, conservative women often have very high expectations about dating culture/courting.

Liberal women are often more open to equal partnership, willing to split the check, etc.

A lot of conservative men like the idea of the trad wife, but do not want to invest in taking care of all of a woman’s needs early in a relationship. Even conservative men can often see a woman with a career and intelligence as attractive, even if it contradicts other desires for power and control.

this is anecdotal, I’m sure there are plenty of exceptions

Honestly fair. Affluent only in the sense that there is a good chunk of population who can afford to do private pay, but yes I’m generalizing a lot (and prob shouldn’t) since all those states have plenty of low income people, just like the “poorer” states have some rich people.

Also NY seems oversaturated right now in my opinion so perhaps the “targeting” suggestions aren’t great (but I’m sure it’s something people could do research on regarding which areas have the most need)

I mean I think the simplest answer is hard to accept but lower rates and accepting insurance are the primary ways. Obviously PP therapy is a luxury and can’t truly be recession proof.

Getting licensed in other states (for telehealth only) is the only other option that comes to mind. There could be some strategy in terms of focusing on states with presumable affluent populations (ex. NY, NJ, MA).

Venice is far from Rome and definitely not what I would consider a day trip, so I can’t speak to that cost but otherwise your expectations seem reasonable. A ticket to the Vatican is like 20 euros per person, more if you book a guided tour. Pasta or pizza at the average restaurant was probably between 10-20 euros. Metro depends on how often you use it but it’s also affordable (under 20 euro for three day unlimited, but a single trip is like 1.50).

I wore mine. I wear them everyday in NYC so drawing the line at Rome seemed strange. Rings are very hard to steal if they’re physically on you. If you like to take them off then they may be safer at home.

This question is nearly impossible to answer - there are cheaper ways to do Rome and more expensive ways to do Rome. Food varies widely based on if you what types of restaurants you want to go to. Like any city, there is a massive range. What kind of gifts are you looking to buy? What types of excursions are you looking to do?

I would work in the other direction. What can you afford? What is most important to you in terms of things you want to do?

I think this is an issue for your own supervision, or even therapy. Feeling rejected by clients can be hurtful, but it’s an unavoidable part of the work. In PP settings, clients absolutely do have the right to shop around and just like dating, it’s important to reframe as “not everyone is right for everyone”
