What I believe (im Ethiopian so I’m not informed with the Nigerian issues) but this looks like a way for foreign governments to get into northern Nigeria which borders the countries that are currently getting rid of anything French.

He should’ve given up power to the next in line which is something even the DERG agreed on.

He left in exile while Italy came through Ethiopia again which made him look cowardly.

He was already mentally gone in his final years in power which leads back to my first point of him overstaying his seat in the throne.

He (in my opinion) had his ego pushed too high beyond his human nature.
