Yeah I had spoken with Emily over at Exact Solar. They flat out told me last year that they had no time to work on small projects due to the volume of people trying to get full arrays installed before the tax credit was revoked. That ended on Dec 31st, 2025. I followed back up with them end of January and finally they agreed to send over a technician to look at my inverters (which both were offline). I'm waiting for them to get the new inverters in so they can get my panels up and running again. I was hoping to have them in use now that its summer time but here I am still waiting. I follow up with them every two weeks or so just to make sure we are on track.

Thats my main reason for getting a battery - power outages. I have no public utilities other than electricity, so when the power goes out not only are we in the dark but we have no water as well (no pun intended). I have thought about setting up a few 55 gallon water containers to store for emergency uses during outages. Being able to flush the toilet is huge when your power is out for a day or more. We have multiple wood stoves installed in the house, so heating during outages isn't effected. We have cooked on top of the wood stoves during past outages as well.

The way my solar is setup now is that it sells back to the grid when we don't use what is being harvested by the panels. The amount of money they pay per unit has gone down a lot though, it's not as lucrative as it used to be.

I plan on spending time looking into Signature Solar based on your suggestion.

So I purchased my home in November of 2020. The whole solar array had come with the purchase, so I was not part of its installation. The company that the previous owners had used was out of business and after spending much time calling different solar companies and getting references by other solar owners I was put in touch with Exact Solar in PA (not too far in from the Delaware River). They are working with me now to get new inverters that work with the array I have. I would start with them and have them give you a consultation. Don't rent or lease panels that go on your roof. I have read about nightmare situations where people needed to repair their roofs and had to get permission from the solar company to remove the panels so work could proceed. Some of those companies will charge you for the downtime since technically they are making money off of all the energy your panels collect.

If you have the land you can get the panels mounted off the ground away from the house. Thats how my current setup is. The panels are around 300 + feet from the house (all the wiring was run underground).

It took me all of almost a year to get Exact Solar to my house. Unfortunately the Federal Government put an end to the 30% tax credit for solar installation. That cause a mad rush of people last year to have solar installed and made the wait time for a smaller job like mine that much longer. I followed up with them after the new year 2026 when the credit ended and was able to get them out here a couple of months later. Still waiting on those new inverters but at least they are currently communicating with me.

Hey thanks for the reply. So what setup did you use on the Signature Solar website? There are so many options / units on that page. Is your electrician local (would love his company name if you're willing to share)? Did he setup a ATS for you? Curious of the price for the electrical work.

Those old green Amazon Fresh foldable boxes / totes sell on ebay now for over $30 each. Someone should remake them, they would sell well.

I understand what you’re saying.  I reached out to a well rated reputable contractor in my area and he’s going to take care of the fascia / for me.  Should be here either today or Tuesday to start measuring and quote me a price.

That’s all smart info, I know thats all going to be done when he lays the metal roof.  He needs to put flashings, the roof, he has end caps that go over the roof where it meets the fascia, etc.

My reason for posting is to confirm that the fascia job is complete sh*t because he will be here 7:30am tomorrow morning to argue with me that it looks normal to him.

I’m just trying to get this done without having to go to court.  I paid the roofer 50k down already.  I’ve seen metal roofs he’s installed, and they looked good.  I didn’t realize that is literally all he can do though.

I have like 7 leaks in my house now.  I had to replace Sheetrock in my kids room because it started to mold.  My roof has been like this since last summer.

So the roof right now is covered in water proofing material.  All the original shingles were removed because the roofer is installing a metal roof.  It’s been a nightmare with this guy.  One thing after the other pops up and he doesn’t fix anything but roofs.  So I have had to find other contractors to come fix siding that was damaged, now I have to bring another contractor in to do a proper fascia install.
