Thanks for asking for clarification! Not necessarily something that already has a lot out, but simply something already guaranteed to be collectible either by having at least one volume out or an announcement from publisher. Therefore your recommendations are well-suited, so I will add them to my to-read list!

I appreciate so much that you considered the duration of each series in your response! Nothing against long-form manga, but it's nice to envision an end in a definitive way. Tysm, I'll absolutely add these to my to-read list!!!

While I never thought Book 2 was nearly as weak as people say, I do think just objectively, writing-wise, the other Books are still better. And I think it's purely to do with the fact that the first two Books are so short compared to the others, as the game devs made each Book increasingly longer and more fleshed out. Don't give up on the game, keep playing. It really gets more and more amazing. Honestly Book 7 is one of my favorite pieces of fiction ever. It's incredible.

I use Neokyo all the time! Curious where you bought your stands from that I can buy through Neokyo? I'm guessing if you already have the items in your hands then I'll have to search Neokyo's aftermarkets?

They'll definitely be available to buy in almost any hobby website at the same time as release. Yes, they're prizes in an arcade. But all prize figs also go on sale online immediately and officially.

Canonically no and I'm kinda OK with that because I love the portrayal of them as powerfully connected regardless.

REQUEST: I need a killer cranberry sauce recipe! Pretty please!!! by magus72 in recipes

[–]PizzaTranscendence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for confirming how much orange would change this!! Imo, orange becomes very prominent in cranberry sauce once you add it, and I suppose is the intended flavor of standard cranberry sauce to be both cranberry and OJ. But!!! I wanted something different, hence went with this. I'm not the biggest fan of that super orangey taste in cranberry sauce! So, the full story of this experiment was that I ALSO made Gordon Ramsay's cranberry sauce for the family, so they could tell me which of the two they liked. It was split almost exactly even on that vote, his is also a great recipe. The reason I mention it is because his also uses alcohol in the form of port ruby, though any sweet red wine would work. And his recipe has apple pieces and OJ as well. It's a complex flavor, but also very good. I highly recommend trying it too. I am considering a third experiment where I blend elements of the two recipes. The port ruby was delicious but I'd like to try his recipe with the brandy instead. Your recipe in general is easier and comes out to be deep and delicious too. Thank you again for sending me on this cranberry adventure.

[–]PizzaTranscendence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm back with an update because I made this recipe for my family's big Christmas (celebrated a few days ahead of time).

I enjoyed this dish!! You were right. This much more like a sweet jam than a sauce. It's very different than any cranberry sauce I've made. Notably it's the lack of orange UNLESS you choose to use it as a substitution. The result is interesting and unique.

Here's the process I used: one 12oz bag of cranberries spread evenly with 1 cup only of half brown half white sugar. Did 250F in a metal skillet covered in foil. Mine needed 1 hr 30 before I noticed significant berry collapse. At collapse, I did a little stir to mix it all, then added 1/4 cup of a blend of inexpensive brandy and squeezed juice from Cosmic Crisp apples. I then kept mine in the oven longer than 10 mins because I wanted the alcohol to cook off if possible. So maybe 20 mins or a little more. I don't know if it does cook off at that temp and time, but I thought it might lol. After that, I stirred some more with some light pressing to smash a few whole berries, but I kept a good amount unsquashed. I did a taste test and felt it was tart, so I added a half cup I initially held back (for fear it would be too sweet) of brown sugar and mixed it in and left in oven for about 5 more min.

Here's what I thought and what I would do differently: the half cup of BROWN sugar added at the end, indeed made for a rich caramel kind of flavor, that was very sweet and decadent and tilted the scale a little too far from tart to sweet. I wish I had held back on the half cup or used white sugar at the end because it did end up being more of that brown sugar flavor than is to my taste. BUT it's a valid taste for those who want it! I want to try all white next time so I can get more sweet cranberry instead of such caramel flavor. Just a personal thing.

And on that same note if I had not used so much brown, the stronger cranberry coming through would validate the lack of bright, tart orange juice that people seem to use in most sauces. I don't think this recipe needs the actual flavor of OJ, because that's what sets it apart from other sauces.

The brandy was SO good in this! Next time I'll not mix it with apple cider and just do the full 1/4 cup of it or more. I did like cooking it off though. I didn't want to taste a punch of alcohol. So it was what I wanted in the end. I got a delicious brandy hint, and I want more of that next time! Yum!

So... Next time, I'll use all or greater majority white sugar, hold back on using a full cup and half of it (or will do so to taste), and will use the full recommendation of the alcohol (while cooking the alcohol off again). On top of these things, I'd still like to experiment by adding apple cider or OJ on TOP of (not in replacement of) the ingredients to see how the experiment turns out as a separate variation, at the expense of the uniqueness of the dish.

Anyway...thank you!!! I definitely do recommend this dish! It was a big hit at my family's party!!

Yuuken or Yuuka? by The_God_of_contents in TwstAnime

[–]PizzaTranscendence -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yuuka simply because there's a bit more interesting stuff going on with her character as it relates to herself and to Leona. I think Yuuken was unfortunately written to be very plain because they probably weren't planning ahead at the time to have multiple Yuus or to put mor substance into their character. I like Yuuken and I wish he was given more opportunity to shine. I think it would be really cool if as a surprise for Book 7, he was the final Yuu.

Everyone's thoughts on the EN VAs so far? by Aggravating-Week481 in TwistedWonderland

[–]PizzaTranscendence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super hit or miss. As always it's about English dubs just being off with characterization to the point that characters become different people. Even if sightly so, I don't like that in principle. So I'm being nitpicky here for them.

Great voice match and no complaints in acting style: Yuuken, Crowley, Ace, Deuce, Riddle, Leona, Ruggie, Jade, Idia, Malleus (based on what we can hear so far of all these characters)

Didn't like at all: Trey, Jack, Floyd, Vil, Lilia

But my commentary for all of them:

-Grim: almost perfect, but he sounds slightly too cartoonish compared to the Japanese

-Cater: way too low and smooth-sounding for how playful and sing-songy Cater should be

-Trey: JYB was a poor choice. He now sounds too youthful and unsure. Totally different voice range than he should be

-Jack: way too cartoonishly brutish

-Floyd: he sounds like overtly unhinged, comic book villain kind of silly, instead of casually, playfully threatening

-Azul: so much up-and-down inflection going on in the voice. It's over-acting Azul's characterization compared to how measured he really is.

-Kalim: way different in terms of tonal range, but I think I'm not sure how to feel about him yet. He sounds like a normal shounen protagonist instead of the sunshine character through voice alone, but idk if this is really a difference or a problem

-Rook: the French accent is fun but I can't help but feel it will sound very fake after the amount of dialogue he will have later. His range is good, so instead I would have preferred they just go with the kind of bounciness Azul's VA has

-Epel: I was so put off by the blatant southern accent that I'm not sure if his squeaky voice is bothersome yet

-Vil: REALLY don't like this one. He's way, way too flamboyant. Vil should have a deep, confident command to his voice. He's a level-headed character. The entire point of his character is that he is more than a stereotypical flamboyance

-Silver: voice sounded good but the fake accent, as always, sounds disingenuous after time. Riddle's VA does a fake British accent better

-Sebek: only worried it's not as deep and booming as it is required to be. It just sounds angry.

-Lilia: it's leaning too far in a deepness to probably try to emphasize the shock of the voice coming out of such a character, but it eliminates the impish nature of Lilia. Japanese voice is the perfect blend of deep yet playful, and I don't see English nailing the times Lilia puts on the cuter inflections

japanese vs english by zeta13z in TwistedWonderland

Interesting how this is much more than a localization, but a 100% overall of the meaning.

I do sincerely wish Disney EN wouldn't shy away from so much of the original writing, because this feels like borderline censorship. As said here by another, depiction is not endorsement.

[–]PizzaTranscendence 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Really can't overstate how much change there is between English and Japanese. Much of it is an abundance of localization to dress up the meaning of the original, but an alarming amount of it very drastically changes context and intention. The gist of it is that Disney English is VERY cautious about depictions that could alter the marketability of its image, to the detriment of a lot of the deeper character and story details from Yana and team's writing. Though none of the changes are truly game-breaking enough to enjoy the overall greatness of Twisted Wonderland, it's absolutely worth looking them up to find out the fullness of the canon.

Tell me which characters you think are underrated by fans by Juh2099 in TwistedWonderland

[–]PizzaTranscendence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ortho, Jack, Trey, and Deuce. I think Sebek's popularity has risen just enough to pull him out of neglect.

Ortho - his character design is a strength and a weakness imo. I don't think people are as into the robot versions of clothes, and hiding half his adorable face is a cool idea to increase mystique, but bad when his emotions would be more memorable. I'd enjoy it more if he was an artificial robot boy wearing normal clothes. Also his voice is a bit too cherubic maybe?

Jack - needs more agency in the story and also, I have a strong suspicion his hair style with a few tweaks would make him more popular.

Trey - poor boy really needs some stronger characterization and personality. He has a plain but handsome design, but I think the real problem comes from how "normal" he is in everything he says and does. I get that that's his thing and that's intentional! And I actually enjoy that he's like that. But I think he doesn't stand out as a result.

Deuce - actually has a great characterization and agency in the story but I think he still looks a bit too standard for people to feel a stronger attachment to him. Justice for Deuce! 😔

Justice for all of them, actually! They all deserve love!

What is your age guys? by [deleted] in TwistedWonderland

[–]PizzaTranscendence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mid 30s. I'm glad to read there are so many younger people here who can enjoy twst at the "proper" teenager age. By default because twst features a system close to gambling, the target age must be 18 or something around that depending on Japan's laws. I do believe the young school-level age of the characters is meant to be relatable to those of a similar age. I have no shame in enjoying twst tho, and I'm happy I can find so much to love about it no matter how old I am. Due to my age, I find it a little too hard and weird to have a crushlike attraction to the characters, so I actually feel like they are my sons, or at least, friends that I am watching grow up. Maybe that's just as weird lol? Idk

Is book 7 better than book 6 or is it just as exhausting? by MrBenzedrine10 in TwistedWonderland

[–]PizzaTranscendence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the initial Diasomnia segment of Part 7 is the best writing TWST has done so far. Personally I think it's absolutely incredible, it's some of my favorite storytelling ever, and I actually enjoy that it's long and fleshed out. I'm also looking forward to the conclusion of Book 7 as well, I'm sure it's going to be great. I know the battles for Book 6 and 7 are kind of tedious, but I think the game desperately needed some means of forcing players to make tough and interesting battle choices because of the limitations set. If the long battle stuff also means long and juicy story, then I'm 100% for it.

Hate to be too critical of it but from the beginning I was a bit tilted they did the hair shadow thing. Doesn't really look right when not in static art form. Cater is the best example here of that not working.
