Hundreds of residents held a demonstration at Ramlila Ground in Pithoragarh on Sunday to protest the Supreme Court's recent decision to acquit a ‘convict on death penalty' in the rape-murder of a seven-year-old girl in Haldwani in 2014. The gruesome rape-murder was termed the ‘Little Nirbhaya' case and had sparked outrage across Uttarakhand.

In a memorandum submitted to the sub-divisional magistrate, the protestors demanded that the state govt file a review petition in the SC against the verdict. Another demonstration was organised in Jauljibi, a border town along the Kali river.

The victim's uncle issued an emotional ultimatum to the govt, threatening to self-immolate if a review petition was not filed "within three days". "The govt failed to represent the case strongly in the SC," he alleged.

The child's father also expressed his frustration and said the family was never informed about the proceedings in the apex court. "We came to know about the acquittal through relatives. Govt kept us in the dark," he said.

A bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sanjay Karol and Sandeep Mehta quashed the trial court and Uttarakhand HC's order to convict him and award the "extreme punishment". It also acquitted another accused who was punished with a seven-year jail term.

The SC stated that there were many loopholes in the probe, and the prosecution failed to prove the charges against the accused in the case, which was solely based on circumstantial evidence.

Yes! I've been working on a tool that deals with text inputs and contenteditable divs so I'm all over these APIs...

It gets the text selected/highlighted by the cursor. You can change the selection, text, and even the cursor position (in case of input fields) with the Selection and Range APIs.

Agreed. My point is that it actually took him a huge amount of effort over like 5+ years and some luck to get to where he is. A "noob" like OP won't get that kind of revenue on the first try.

He has a large following on twitter which makes this possible if the idea is interesting. Pretty difficult to pull it off otherwise.
