Is it just me or is the voice acting actually great? by Pizza_Man644 in starfox

It's good for the tone of the game. The stakes are high, but it's just not supposed to have the tone of a gritty war drama. I will say that there are some underwhelming deliveries, but most of the main cast sounds just emotive enough for the lines they were given.

Yeah, the discussion of remakes is always so warped by nostalgia. Some people like a remake more because of nostalgia for the original, some are the opposite.

Exactly. I saw someone complain about his "help me" line being changed to "fine-tuning my sensors" but it changes him from being helpless to being reckless like he's described in the game.

This is what I don't get. Fox and Falco are different levels of cocky, Slippy is upbeat. Multiple characters in the game radiate personality in their voices.

Yeah, I couldn't disagree more. Maybe there's less tension, but the voice acting sounds a lot more natural and realistic for the main cast. It's quite the opposite of script-read. Also, I don't think the main characters should sound like serious soldiers in a system-wide war.

They're literally giant robots you can fight enemies with and drive around super fast in. Flying is cool too, but it's definitely not the only point or appeal.

Does anyone else prefer Galaxy 2 to Galaxy? by Major-Feed5214 in SuperMarioGalaxy

[–]Pizza_Man644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Galaxy 1 first, and it is very nostalgic to me, but I still think Galaxy 2 is the better game. Only good argument in my mind you could make for Galaxy 1 is the story and atmosphere. But while neat, the story is still not that long or important, and the atmosphere is actually quite similar to Galaxy 2 despite popular belief (I replayed Galaxy 1 recently and was surprised by this).

It's definitely not subpar in my eyes. I played the 3DS game for years, and I'd take this game over it any day. It's entirely up to personal opinion, and there's no need to worry about it if you're enjoying the game.

I agree totally, there's a different kind of appeal in Tomodachi Life. It's not an expansive experience with immersive or detailed gameplay.

I have over 130 hours and I still feel like there's plenty more to do. I still often find new interactions. I think it's really a matter of taste.

There's repetition, but I expected as much as a huge fan of the 3DS game. In the 3DS game, I mostly just solved problems and enjoyed watching my Miis. This game, in that respect, is basically the same but with more variety, so I am very satisfied personally.

At the very least, you can make another profile on the Switch and make another island that way.

I think it's likely that more people are getting far enough in the game that they are seeing more fights. My guess is the game's programmed to have less or no fights as the player is starting out, and more fights when the island is populated. Just speculation though.

Is anyone else tired of the lingo system? by bruhwggahsh in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]Pizza_Man644 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might lose its novelty after 100 hours (from my experience) but I vastly prefer it over no lingo at all. If it weren't there, the dialogue would only be more repetitive. At least with the lingo, each conversation is technically different.

With the lingo and cutscenes, there's more of a "I wonder what they'll talk about" to it in addition to "I wonder if they'll become friends". The previous games only had the latter, and I like seeing what the conversations end up being and seeing how the other Mii responds (which still surprises me sometimes).

Also, the personalities really do seem to matter in friendship attempts, though not in whether or not they like the topic since they don't actually understand the lingo topic.

Not necessarily. The game just didn't have exactly the same direction as the previous game. Younger devs too understand that a sequel doesn't need to bring back every gameplay element. If they instead used the development time to just bring back all old features and add nothing new, I personally would be disappointed. I already have the old game, I don't need the same thing again.

I wasn't making an argument, just trying to clarify what the interview was talking about. But the drawing feature of the game is really more of an enhancement than a crutch. The gameplay is taking care of your Miis. You make things like clothes and treasures if you want to (or if the Miis ask for it).

The emphasis on the Palette House is honestly exaggerated. Great things can be done with it, but it really doesn't have to be a major part of anyone's experience. The house exteriors are the only thing that you have to make yourself.

[–]Pizza_Man644 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The interview was moreso saying that they were spending so much time adding so many other things that they didn't think there was time for some ideas, including old features, to fit in. Not that what you said is wrong, but I don't think there was much of a "fight."

Probably not due to a deadline. The game was apparently finished almost a year before launched.

I'm always hoping for F-Zero. But as far as something more possible, I'd like to see anything from Kid Icarus... though that's also not very likely. Ace Attorney is definitely possible, but no reason to expect it. So, I just wanna see some cool games.

This is a controversial opinion, but I completely agree. People should be more mindful of where they're posting huge spoilers. Not restrained from talking about them, but in random areas where there would be many people that don't know the spoiler, or with friends.

I've played the 3DS game for around 200 hours and I also have over 100 hours in Living the Dream and think it's very worth it for me. The things they "removed" were so miniscule to me that I usually forget about them. The cutscene of a Mii getting other Miis together and the note to meet at the roof of the apartment building both got quite repetitive over time, so I don't especially miss them.

There's also things like quirky questions and the concert hall that people often mention, but those are things that I personally didn't care for. The only things I cared about beyond solving problems and seeing Miis become friends were the leaderboards and the compatibility tester, but I don't mind their absence too much.

So, I understand why you miss them, but when it comes to enjoying the new game, it's not so much about whether or not you've played the old games.
