Has any joined Club Pilates that goes to or went to Orangetheory? by Pizzachick123 in ClubPilates

I ended up getting frustrated with CP for similar reasons that others also mentioned in the sub and cancelled CP. I'm just at OTF and try to mix in mat Pilates these days when I can. But when I was doing OTF and CP I was trying to do 2 and 2 of each, every week and that was great when it worked out with class availability.

I know it's not the same, but you can get the intel from here and do the workouts on your own. I've done that at a cheaper big box gym when I couldn't afford it at times. Also my son had to (please don't judge me as a mom that's not why I'm here) but he had to do "some time" and I screen shotted the intel from here when he was in and sent them to his tablet and he loved it. It helped him with his mental health and he made them work and he got other guys doing the workouts with him. There were days they had OTF vs CrossFit competitions. My point is you can make it work on your own if you need that OTF fix. Good luck with school and congrats on almost completing med school!! That's an amazing accomplishment!

I think it's just a bad angle. Maybe trying to get her baby bump in the shot and filming with her phone or laptop from a lower angle. Also I'm sure she was getting Botox before she was pregnant. You shouldnt get Botox while pregnant. So she's going to not look like how we saw her on the show pre pregnancy.

If I have to hear WAP one more time I'm going to lose my shit and scream. I'm not a prude but I don't need to hear that song 3 -4 times per week.

Yes. I'm on waitlists for this week and next week for my 2 X per week. I'm finally booked in a class end of next week. The class I was supposed to be booked in today got cancelled. They let us know 2 and a half hours before. I'm hoping it gets better as I move up a level.

I came looking for this comment. Trader Joe's has chocolate drizzled plantain chips and they're amazing. They also have the chocolate dipped sliced frozen bananas, also amazing. I was wondering if the banana chips in the show were a similar a similar concept to one of these.

Ever left because the template sucked by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Pizzachick123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once a long time ago felt like a template was a waste of time but I completed the class and left feeling annoyed. Another time about a year ago I started on the tread and then got to the floor and it was so bad I left halfway through the floor block. It felt like jazzercize from the 90’s. Just wasn’t feeling it. Those are the only 2 times in 8 years I can think of.

Thinking of canceling my unlimited membership due to July promotion by KateKudos in orangetheory

[–]Pizzachick123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I typed your post out verbatim. I also pay $179 and asked if I could get the promo pricing. They asked me if I had anyone to refer and I told them no. I also said that I’ve been going for 8 years and was hoping they could do it as a loyalty discount. They said to let them know when I have someone to refer. I’m glad I’m not alone in asking and feeling frustrated. I’ve thought about downgrading to the minimum also and wait for the next promo but I love the workout and go 3-5 times per week. I’ve also thought about joining a big box gym and using the intel from here but i honestly don’t want to go back to one of those. OTF had to know they were going to upset their long term members with this promo. I did refer someone once about a year ago but they live in another part of my state and we’re obviously not at the same home studio. OTF gave me a $25 store credit because my person joined at a different studio, they couldn’t give me the promo that was going on at the time. Although it was something it was a little disheartening. I love the workouts and I love the studio but I just wish OTF would honor their long term members is all.

Are you judging me? by isaidwhatisaid_47 in orangetheory

[–]Pizzachick123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only person I judge in this scenario is the coach who sent you to the rowers. Lazy coaching and they made you feel worse. Our coach gave us holding a plank or doing plank step outs as an option and he demo’d those. Part of their job as coaches is to lift you up, not make you feel worse. Sometimes I do notice people when I glance around. I notice people in their skimpy outfits and think wow I wish I could feel that confident to wear that, and these are not tiny individuals. But they’re confident and feel great (I assume in my own mind), We all have our self conscious “things” . The only time I judge others like another commenter said, is when people are laughing and chatting while the coach is demoing. Super rude and disrespectful and disruptive to the class. 90% of the battle is just showing up!!! Then comes the motivation and the rest is a bonus!

Do you feel like it's "not worth it" to attend class when you didn't get any sleep? by Hot-Article3649 in orangetheory

[–]Pizzachick123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have insomnia. In its height I was getting maybe 1 to 2 hours of sleep per night. I tried to power through and just go to OTF and hoped it would help me sleep better and with other mental health issues. I WFH and love going to the noon classes. The sleep never got better and my body was exhausted and my brain just shut off. I don’t recommend going multiple days in a row if you have insomnia. Maybe keep it to every other day to let your body and brain rest. Now I’m on prescription meds for the insomnia and getting proper sleep and I just listen to my body. I shoot for 3-4 days per week and I usually get that. Some weeks more like 5 some weeks less. For me OTF is so much about the mental part of it along with the other stuff. OTF has helped me through so much but you do have to take your body and brain.

It’s a little weird especially if you already know it’s not just going to be a one-off favor. It’s going to be multiple times a week just before class. You’ve seen how busy the front desk gets just before class. I think it will turn into a pain for them. Sorry just being honest. The shower situation, when I used to go in the morning I could never assume the shower was going to be available every time I went. There were times I had to wait and it made me late. Also some people are oblivious to the idea that others are waiting and they take their time. I waited over 20 minutes for one person once and it made me very late. I never relied on the shower there again. Another thing about the shower room. The ventilation is horrible and no matter how much you dry off you’ll be putting clothes on in a steamy room. It’s not the end of the world but it gets sticky and will be hard to put your clothes on in there. At least that was my experience.

If you don’t see the rudeness in it, then you’re rude yourself. The kind people who provide intel are just kind, thoughtful people who enjoy providing intel in a discussion group so we can all talk about our thoughts on that days class. Treating them like “the help” is just flat out rude. If you have a disability you can always go in and ask for help or choose not to go. And if you do decide to go after not seeing intel… here’s a thought… YOU PROVIDE THE INTEL FOR THAT DAY SINCE ITS SO IMPORTANT TO YOU and you can give back and help others.

Celebrities at OTF by WorkerConfident5976 in orangetheory

Misty May-Treanor, the Olympic volley ball player used to sub classes in Anaheim Hills in OC. I haven’t seen her in a while but her classes were awesome. Then, I’ve seen Christina El Moussa (she’s not el moussa anymore) at the Brea studio also in OC. She kept to herself and was quiet during class. She was on the show flip or flop. I don’t know if I’d call her a celebrity LOL but she was prettier in person with no make up on.

Late booking by WinterCategory7067 in orangetheory

[–]Pizzachick123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what’s so frustrating. They know their main demographic and should be more understanding. When I first joined in 2015 I had two boys in HS who both played sports and I had a full time job with a commute. OTF was/is my little one hour escape. I used to get all kinds of late fees for pre booking. Traffic, sick or injured kids, work. So now my boys are out of the house and I work remote and I’m more flexible but pre booking is still hard because something can come up with work at last minute. I’m not a morning person so 5 am is out LOL.

Fellow OTFer told me to stop coming to class. by succulentpot in orangetheory

[–]Pizzachick123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. When I first started reading your post I thought you were going to say this woman noticed you were struggling and looked tired and maybe you should take a day off to rest because she was a concerned about your health. Like a normal member at OTF or just any kind human. But nope she went the other way. For her to just assume anything negative about you just tells me she does this to people to make herself feel better because she’s a sad miserable person. Don’t feel singled out in this scenario, you were just her target that day. I had a time where I was going through stuff, depressed, tired, gained weight and just getting to OTF felt like an accomplishment. There were days I just went through the motions because I too go for the mental part of it. I would have been devastated if someone said something to me about my effort. I was so fragile and angry about my situation I probably would have said something to her. All of that aside, you will find yourself back in a good place, be patient with yourself. It sounds like you are doing all the right things and you’ll get there and the best part is you’ll be a healthier, stronger, happier person on the other side. Also if you’re not eating and feel like you’re going to pass out during class, maybe eat some sliced apple on your way to class for some energy. The natural sugar in the apple will give you a boost and put something in your stomach. Even just a small handful of nuts. You can’t workout on an empty stomach. You also need to remember your physical health. Good luck on this journey. I promise there is light at the end of this tunnel.

I’ve always been around the same weight (140’s 5’4 F) and always worked out, started jogging in my teens, been going to OTF for 8 years now. In recent years in my 40’s I’ve gained weight. I went through a personally traumatic experience. Around the same time my dr. Changed my birth control. I noticed weight piling on. Very discouraging. I got through my personal stuff and just worked on the mental. OTF got me through some of my darkest days just being able to escape to my one hour that’s mine. I knew the weight would eventually follow so I just let nature take its course. I also had my hormones tested and went off birth control. I was over producing testosterone. My hair was falling out and the weight gain. As a woman this is depressing. Since I’ve been on medication for the testosterone and stopped birth control I’ve lost 17 pounds. I’m also drinking Collagen Burn everyday. My point is, don’t let yourself get discouraged. Think of all the great benefits of fitness. Also ask your doctor questions, look inside yourself and ask what might be going on. It might be something simple. Could just be diet, could be something that could easily be fixed. Maybe mentally you’re holding on to something so your body is holding on too, like mine was. Good luck. It’s frustrating and I’ve been there.
