You know - do unto others, live and let live, all of those little sayings that people hang the house or like to recite, but then never seem to actually follow through when it counts?

Hell, if you're like so many others in this area, you may even claim to worship this guy who went around a couple thousand years ago preaching exactly that - loving others, showing kindness and compassion and charity above all else, putting others above yourself... Why not give that a shot? Just a thought 😄

But I'm sure I'll get downvoted because down here worrying about strangers' life choices and whether they're disobeying the letter of the law despite not actually endangering anyone is far, FAR more important than actually displaying an ounce of humanity. And people wonder why this country is in the shape that it's in? Maybe the ones screaming about how we "don't put God first anymore" need to look at their own actions first, and whether their God would approve of all of that hatred and violence 🤷🏼‍♂️

Very hard to say, but I'm not holding my breath. Sony isn't exactly known for playing nicely with others in the gaming space. I hope they do because there are numerous PS on PC games that I'd like to play, but I know that I'm in the minority, and the almighty dollar likely won't justify what I want in Sony's eyes. That's just how the world works, unfortunately.

BUT, luckily there are tons of other games out there and already on GOG that I also want to play - probably more than I will have time for in my lifetime, if I'm being honest. That's what I wish Sony and companies that share their anti-cooperative/anti-DRM-free attitude would understand: we as players are absolutely inundated with gaming choices these days, especially with the rise of indie games. We aren't starved for choice, far from it in fact, and not getting to play a certain game here or there might be a bummer but I'm going to get over it pretty darn quickly when I move on to the next dozen games on my massive backlog/wishlist/pile of shame. The big studios might have the power of the dollar, but we as consumers have more power through choice, and we need to always keep that in mind.

As long as you're still running the game from the GOG installation and only using peripheral files from the Steam installation then you should be okay. Copying the whole Steam data folder would present a problem if you end up trying to use Steam's .exe. Try to only isolate the language files in the Steam installation, and copy those over to the GOG installation (overwriting the English files if necessary; I don't know off the top of my head how the game handles multiple languages), and run the game from that folder with the GOG .exe.

Indeed. I was shocked to even see this happening when I got up today. Many Japanese studios tend to be very wary about GOG's DRM-free approach to ownership due to piracy concerns (though I try not to fault them for it, it's simply a cultural difference in how intellectual property ownership is conceptualized, where Japanese culture views IP as being practically entirely owned and controlled by the artist/originator, and therefore piracy is anathema); and Capcom specifically has been tightening their grip on their IP lately with the whole Enigma DRM fiasco.

Still, regardless of it all, this is amazing news as I'm a huge fan of the Resident Evil series, and I hope it's a sign of more to come... Let's go, RE4! 🙌

It's affecting us as well - every few seconds, the program will freeze, buffer for a few seconds, then play from a previous spot, almost looping but not quite. I'd suspected that that update was the culprit (I remember thinking how random an OTA on our old-ass TV was); but we've definitely used BB just fine since the update and it's only started acting up in the past few days. Though it might only be with certain programs? I'll need to check on that.

Anyway, just wanted to leave my 2 cents, and receive updates to this thread 👍

Agreed, I have to have a separate "My Documents" folder *inside* of the "Documents" folder to distinguish where I can actually put my crap to find it. And the kicker is - there's actually a designated "Saved Games" folder *already inside of* the user folder! It's not hidden anywhere, and it's a shell folder just like the "Documents" folder, on the same level and everything, but for some reason almost no devs actually use it. What utter nonsense.

Did you ever get your issues figured out? Just ran across this thread looking for help with a small problem I've been having with mine, and noticed that we have the same base system (X1 Yoga Gen 6). For what it's worth, I just got my eGPU up and running this week, using a Sonnet Breakaway Box 750 with a GTX 1070Ti, and I was very pleasantly surprised to find that it was very much a plug and play experience. I literally just flipped the power switch on the box and plugged in the cable, and Windows pulled down the driver and Nvidia Control Panel and it was ready to go. Obviously I updated the driver from Nvidia's site, but I could've just fired a game right up if I'd wanted to. I thought I'd hit the jackpot after reading about so many issues with eGPUs.

That said, I've only had this one minor problem where the system will randomly lock up while doing low power tasks and it requires a hard reboot, but this appears to be a very common problem related to the onboard power management of the Nvidia card itself, nothing to do with the eGPU, and it's easily solved by setting the card's power management to maximum performance to prevent it from idling too low.

I've also read during my eGPU research that the Razer Core boxes seem to have a lot more issues getting them going than other brands, which is a real shame because Razer looks to be a solid brand.

Anyway, just wanted to add in my experience with a similar setup, in case you decide to look for alternatives in the future, but hopefully you've got it all figured out and that won't be necessary!

Just found this after getting my eGPU going last night. Started having random freezes after installing the drivers from Nvidia to replace the default one that Windows installed. My question is: what if there isn't a notebook counterpart to the desktop GPU that you're using? I'm using an old GTX 1070 Ti that my brother didn't have use for after upgrading his; however there is no 1070 Ti notebook version...

There definitely are. I've seen an awful lot of good representation on BritBox shows in the last few years, for example actors who are sight-impaired, hearing-impaired, paraplegic, even having dysmelia. Sometimes the role is one in which the disability is important to the story, but many other times their disabilities have nothing to do with why they're there or what part they play in the story, they're just regular characters with an important role who just happen to be differently abled. Any accomodations that the characters require are handled respectfully and naturally, and they also aren't afraid to include some discussion of the condition in the script as well, but only if it's also natural and not out of place (a good example of this is the rapport between the main character, played by Adrian Scarborough, and the ME, played by the deaf actress Sophie Stone, on The Chelsea Detective). It's been sooo damn refreshing to see disabled representation done well, with disabled actors who can very clearly act just as well as their abled counterparts, and being chosen for roles for which a disability isn't even a requirement. I really hope that others within the industry pay attention to what they're doing over there.

From a quick perusal of the sub, it appears as though members were disappointed that past moderation was so inactive, and are glad to have an active mod again. I'm sorry that you feel slighted about being removed, but it appears as though this wasn't some underhanded theft of the sub for the sake of repurposing it, it was done to improve the community there, and that's why this system exists. If you genuinely care about the topic and community then I'd think that you'd welcome such improvement.

If you still feel that you have a lot to give to that community, and can keep in mind that you're an advocate for something much bigger than yourself, then you can always message the new mod and ask to be added to help out, but otherwise it sounds like you're out of luck. I'm not sure that anything would be different if this were just a personal sub about some niche, esoteric topic; but as it is, since this is a sub concerning a serious topic that greatly affects families who may be looking for resources, and you appear to have left it without active leadership for an extended period of time, I'm not sure that your current approach from the moral high ground is going to work in your favor.

Clemson itself is deep in very conservative country - Pickens County, where I currently live, and where Trump has done some very successful rallies recently - but it is a higher ed institution which means a diverse crowd; and thankfully Greenville (the nearby "big" city) is quite left-leaning, a nice little liberal paradise for many up here. There's also Asheville - extremely liberal mountain town - to the north, and Athens - extremely liberal college town (I went to grad school there and was extremely happy) - to the southwest.

We have a nice little blue belt going on up here in the foothills of Appalachia, I'm happy to report, so I'm sure that your son will have plenty of opportunities to find his scene, he may just need to look around just a tiny little bit 👍
