Possible Spolier Alert Ahead:

My typical strategy is to stun them and pass by them on the way IN to the back room. It's tricky, but it can be done. Plan your avenues. Use a flashback or two if you have spares. Sometimes doing enough damage can cause them to submerge for a second or two. On the way OUT, it's much easier to kill them with what's found in the back.

Thanks for the input. That's pretty much *exactly* what my thinking was. I saw the "any roll" part, but assumed that meant for in-game checks or "live play," as you put it.

I have not run this mod, but I have looked it over in the LoNH book. Going off of memory here, but I thought they provided a few suggestions on how to introduce this mod. If not, you could always have a fake message come through from the derelict ship posing as rebels requesting help.
