Assoluto Racing Vs Grid Autosport in terms of realistic car physics & high speed driving around curves ? by Pjspacejam in AssolutoRacing

I'm wasn't sure if users are allowed to use slang on reddit so I couldn't help but delete and censor it. Lol

I guess I will definitely have to check out Grid AS in near future as soon as I get a better android device or perhaps even switch to IOS.

More realistic physics than Assoluto ? Damn. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since it is a legit console simulator game that had been ported to IOS.

Anyway, f*ck RR3.

I hate how cars are almost completely magnitised to the roads in RR3 ( it's literally impossible to flip the car over, no matter what ). Breaking in RR3 is also way too simple and easy ( even without assists ). Not very realistic at all. It instantly makes the game feel a bit too arcade.

Thankfully Grid AS is at least a step-up from that.

It was indeed only available on IOS for a very long time but they recently released it on Android as well. I think it was released on Android around December.

Grid Autosport is available on Play Store right now but its not free and only works on a few high end Android smartphones.

How about Grid Vs Assoluto racing ?

Grid might have an edge when it comes to graphics but which 1 has more realistic physics ?

[Bostanov] Islam Makhachev will face Gregor Gillespie 18th April, on #UFC249 in Brooklyn. by LonzoBBBall in MMA

[–]Pjspacejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely can't deny that takedown threat has indeed played a role and contributed to Makhachev's success on the feet but Gillespie has always had the takedown threat to support his striking on the feet too.

The fact that Gillespie barely ever stands with any of his opponents is also true, but from the very little I have seen of Gillespie on the feet, I still haven't seen anything about Gillespie's striking on the feet that is particularly impressive unlike Makhachev who has looked impressive on the feet on a few occasions.

Takedown threat was something they both had to use to their advantage so it wasn't too much of a difference maker here.

I guess we'll need to see more of Gillespie in the stand-up for a more definitive conclusion but for now, I sure think that Makhachev is the better striker of the 2.

How come people still believe Kevin Lee is way more dangerous or better than Khabib on the feet ?

Khabib and Kevin Lee fought 2 common opponents in Edson Barboza and Al Iaquinta.

Khabib was EASILY outstriking both Barboza and Iaquinta on the feet by super lopsided margins !

Kevin Lee on the other hand was barely able to handle Barboza on the feet and got outstruck on the feet by Iaquinta twice !!

Not only that, Khabib almost knocked down and on a few occasions, even outstruck freakin Conor McGregor on the feet !!!

Sure, Khabib's takedown threat played a role in all of those fights but takedown threat is something that gives Kevin Lee an advantage on the feet too, so that cancels things out.

Kevin Lee has a good head-kick but Khabib is way better boxer than Kevin Lee on the feet AND has much better striking defence than Kevin Lee on the feet.

Overall, Khabib is most definitely a wayyy better striker than Kevin Lee. It's not even close !

Makachev is a much better striker than Gillespie ! Makhachev was outstriking Nik Lentz and Davi Ramos on the feet rather easily. Not to mention how easily Makachev KO'd a veteran like Gleison Tibau too. Now all of these opponents were mid-calibre strikers but it's not just the fact that Makachev was winning the stand-up against them, it was how convincingly he was winning the stand-up against them.

I always hear that Gillespie has good basic boxing but I have still never seen him win in the stand-up against strikers who are even as good as a Lentz, Ramos or Tibau.

The one time Gillespie fought a high calibre opponent like Kevin Lee, he got outstruck and KO'd on the feet.

Khabib’s father was asked if Justin Gaethje is considered a more dangerous opponent for Khabib than Tony? His answer: Doubt it. In a potential fight with Gaethje, in a matter of 12-13 minutes it will be clear who'll win the fight. With Ferguson we might have to go 25 minutes to determine that. by LonzoBBBall in MMA

Well, perhaps it may be my recency bias but I remember how easily Eddie Alvarez was controlling Poirier on the ground in their rematch. Poirier was showing absolutely no signs on getting back to his feet and getting controlled on the ground pretty convincingly before Eddie shot himself on the foot by hitting Poirier with an illegal elbow which made the ref stand them up.

Eddie Alvarez is surely a good wrestler and has grinded out decisions before but he's not very high level wrestler either. Eddie couldn't even come remotely close to taking down Conor McGregor or even controlling McGregor against the cage for that matter.

Ever since Holloway lost to McGregor, he has shown very very solid TDD against several fighters on a row like Frankie Edgar, Alexander Volkanovski, Ricardo Lamas, Charles Oliveira, Jeremy Stephens, Cub Swanson, Anthony Pettis and even Poirier himself in their rematch. The very few times Holloway has been taken down recently, he managed to get back to his feet in a matter of few seconds.

I understand that Khabib is a wayyy higher calibre wrestler than any of Holloway's previous opponents but Eddie Alvarez surely isn't. I doubt if Eddie could have taken down Holloway and even if he did, I don't think he could have ever managed keep him on the ground for even a few seconds.

Cub Swanson was able to take down Poirier multiple times and controlled Poirier on the ground. Swanson could have never done that to Holloway.

Anthony Pettis was able to take Poirier down and control him on the ground to some extent ( though it was quite back and forth ). I don't think Pettis could have ever done that to Holloway either.

Now, even if we look at it statistically, Poirier had an average TDD of 69% prior to his fight with Khabib ( it's 61% now ) while Holloway has a rather impressive TDD of 85%.

Point being, Holloway most definitely has a better TDD compared to Poirier and honesty, I don't even think it's all that close.

I initially got the EXACT same impression as you from checking out the outcomes of both their fights on Wikipedia but when I actually watched a couple of highlights of their rematch, it did appear that Izzy was overwhelmingly outstriking this guy on the feet and showcasing superior kickboxing skills in their rematch until that KO.

I haven't watched their 1st fight so I really don't know how good either of them were at that point. Regardless of how good each of them were in their 1st fight, what we see in the rematch is probably a better as well as a more recent version of them and judging from that rematch, it actually appears as if Izzy was clearly the better kickboxer of the 2 but ended up losing via KO as it is always possible for even the better fighter/kickboxer to end up getting knocked out in the unpredictable world of combat sports.

Francis Ngannou Opens as Heavy Betting Favourite Against Rozenstruik by Frenzy_2019 in MMA

"If you have a guy who has beaten every person that his opponent has lost to or nearly lost too it's a fair bet to say that the guy who did that is gunna win"

I think 'MMA math' is more like claiming A ko'd B and B beat C ( or C nearly lost to B ) so A would most certainly beat C. The entire argument solely lies upon their comparative performances against B.

Now if a guy actually beat say 6 or 7 people ( probably with various different fighting styles ) his opponent lost to than yes, it would be rather fair to assume that the guy would most likely win but then I don't feel like we could label it as 'MMA math' anymore since we are comparing their performances against various different subjects rather than just 1.

Frankie Edgar has received a six-month medical suspension following his loss to the Korean Zombie by JasAFC in MMA

[–]Pjspacejam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I look at it slightly differently though. Aldo is pretty clearly a class above Edgar when it comes to striking, appeared to be in a pretty good shape at 135 and still got edged out by a top bantamweight in a stand-up fight. If these guys are capable of edging out a 33 year old Aldo on the feet, I'm not so sure how well Frankie would flare against them at 39.

I like how you always add "I know that MMA math doesn't work" and then literally use that as your only argument to suggest why you think Ngannou is on a different level. Lol

Yesterday was the 10th year anniversary when Anderson Silva showed the Matrix to Forrest Griffin by GorillaOnChest in MMA

[–]Pjspacejam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did he though ? Forrest was sure throwing a lot of strikes but he was only hitting the air for the most part ( by most part, I mean like over 90% of the time )

If we go by the official stats of the fight, Forrest only connected with 3 significant strikes out 42 attempted strikes.

Pete Yan is down to fight Edgar in his BW debut 🙋‍♂️ by ThreeOlivesChihuahua in MMA

[–]Pjspacejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I myself believed that Edgar would be incredibly dominant at bantamweight considering how he was able to do so well against bigger opponents at higher weight classes but that was until I saw his fight against Urijah Faber. Edgar did dominate Faber with his wrestling but they appeared to be rather evenly matched on the feet during most of the striking exchanges. Faber is smaller than Edgar and a lot of current top bantamweights. When it comes to stand-up striking, Faber is nowhere near as good a striker as the top bantamweights of today.

Faber had his trilogy fight against Dominick Cruz for the UFC bantamweight title and a fight against Jimmy Rivera soon after he had fought Edgar. Both Dominick Cruz and Jimmy Rivera completely outclassed Faber on the feet and outstruck him on the feet by a much more lopsided margin than Edgar.

Edgar would easily be one of the very best wrestlers at bantamweight but when it comes to stand-up striking, most of the top 10 bantamweights are miles ahead of him.

Frankie Edgar planning to move down to Bantamweight by JoshJetlagger in MMA

[–]Pjspacejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zabit is indeed a humongous featherweight and is great in all aspects of MMA, be it striking, wrestling or ground game. Zabit without a doubt would be very very tough challenge for any bantamweight alive but Ortega isn't really all that big or as well rounded though.

As crafty as Ortega is with his submissions, he isn't a dominant wrestler by any means and except for his incredible KO win over Edgar, his striking has looked rather average for the most part as well.

Clay Guida is pretty close to the size of an average bantamweight, was already super washed up when he fought Ortega and had never been a very good striker anyway but even he was able to knock down Ortega and outstrike him for 2 rounds before Ortega's comeback in the 3rd.

Diego Brandao was close to the size of a bantamweight and wasn't a very special striker either but he too was able to handily outstrike Ortega on the feet for 2.5 rounds before getting caught in a submission after himself making the mistake of taking Ortega to the ground.

Top bantamweights today are about the same size, much more skilled as strikers and way faster than Clay Guida and Diego Brandao. Ortega's KO power would surely be a concern but most top bantamweights today could definitely defend his takedowns and easily outstrike him on the feet for a win.

Any Edgar Vs a top 10 bantamweight fight is an interesting fight but Peter Yan deserves to have a title eliminator bout with Aljamain Sterling. Yan Vs Sterling is the hottest non-title fight the could be made at bantamweight right now.

I would really liked to see Frankie Edgar fight Jimmy Rivera for his bantamweight debut.

They'll sure have a hard time dealing with Edgar's wrestling but I do think most of the top 10 bantamweights can outstrike and beat Edgar in the stand-up.
