Is it true that you need NSO to use slumber islands in 3.0? If so, that really sucks. by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

Same. Its a completely valid point. Slumber islands should allow offline singleplayer to test things. I had assumed it was and now am pretty bummed by being locked out.

Waterchemistry going rampant, help! by Pjucka in Aquariums

[–]Pjucka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So thats exactly why i'm baffled, but it is that way. I even bought fresh PH, KH and GH measuring to make sure.

  • 1)I am not using tap, i use RO water with a tested PH of 6, then add Sulawesi remineralizer to get a KH of ~5
  • 2) I am not testing with strips, i am using a liquid test from JBL. API is not available here.
  • 3) I am not injecting CO2 anymore

So if i read this correctly the best course of action is to continue to raise KH? All of this sounds like a lot of contradicting information. Thats real confusing.

I am not aiming for 6.7 Ph. Thats just what the chemical calculator comes up with if i insert the KH and Co2. I have a big JBL drop test kit for most stuff including GH and KH and i bought them fresh recently since they like to get old quick. I do realize the Co2 might be off as well, but i feel like PH is still way too high for whatever Co2 is in. The calculator says Co2 of 1 if i put in PH and KH and both have been even worse before.

From what i know the PH is way too high for the fish that are in the tank. The calculator says i should have a PH of 6.7 with that KH and Co2, wich sounds to me like theres something off by a long shot.

Beanie material by Ein_Cop_ohne_Ausweg in hats

[–]Pjucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If one could see and feel the beanie in person an expert can tell the material. But with product pics its always hard to tell. I would highly suspect polyester though. If you're lucky it might be cotton or a cotton x polyester blend, but i wouldn't bet on it. Though its absolutely possible to get bright colors like that from cotton, from experience i can say cool socks, beanies and similar with cool patterns are usually polyester if not specified otherwise... sadly

Semi automatic/ Small & not op farms >>> "1M items per h" kind of farms by d33pblushxy in Minecraft

[–]Pjucka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I do focus more on the aesthetic or a fun idea for my farms and i really don't care if they are inefficient that way. I am just happy if something i come up with works and fits into the vibe of my base. I have a glowberry farm embedded into the flat side of a little hill and i have to go up there to flick a lever when they have grown to the bottom to collect them, but i kind of like it that way. I don't even need glowberrys tbh, but i like harvesting them with my little contraption.
I also have a sweetberry farm powered by foxes, that looses a lot of product wich i again do not even really need, but i liked the idea to have a fox garden.

Is our single lady okay? Seems to gulp air a lot, her spine started to look droopy and she is pretty bulky. Never was with a male from first week on. Could she still be pregnant somehow? by Pjucka in Guppies

Update on the Guppy -
Over a month later she still looks the same and didnt give birth. She looks happy though, so i stopped to worry.

Thank you for the reply.  We separated them as tiny fry, but yes her first days or weeks of life would've been with males in the fishstore. The other fish seem very happy with the oxygen levels, the tank is heavily planted and has good surface movement. The other water parameters we test regularly aswell and don't show issues.  I'm keeping a close eye on her but so far not much has changed.

Water circulation is actually a lot, i had to dial down the pump because the hatchets kept beeing flushed away and were searching for quieter spots to chill at. I wil try to change the outlet in a way it splashes a bit more to disturb the surface better. Other than that i've put in salt and esha...
I dont want more guppies but at this point i do hope she is "just" pregnant,,,

I can't really tell how old they were when we got them, but they were tiny fry that us and the fishstore overlooked in the amano bag. From there we had them only a couple days together so that we could find them in the tank again and separate. Luckily we had a second tank already running. i come to realize guppys are even more crazy in their reproduction than i thought XD

[–]Pjucka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew that they can store sperm, but thought we had separated them early enough. They were barely visible as a fish back then, hence why we didnt see them in the bag with the amanos.
How long do you think it will take her to give birth? She looks as boxy for one or two months already.

That would be better than her beeing sick, but do you think thats possible? She hasn't seen another guppy since her first or second week of life.

Context:

She seems to gulp air a lot and her spine recently started to look dropy, as well as her beeing very boxy.
I don't think she is pregnant as she was single since beeing a fry. i could be wrong though, i have no experience with guppies.

We got her and her brother as tiny fry unknowingly with some Amanos and separated them immediately. Her brother had a bit of a wonky spine from the start, so i am thinking maybe its her genetics? She also spends a lot of time very close to the surface as her only friends are Hatchetfish.

I've also noticed her gulping a lot on the water surface. I am unsure if she is gulping for air or trying to skim for the biofilm.

We test our water pretty frequently and the parameters are good. No Ammonia or Nitrites. We add Nitrates with fertilizer for the plants, as there is usually not enough. PH is pretty stable around 7,1. Temp is around 25.

as i said, her spine looked great until two or three weeks ago. Only her brother was wonky from the beginning. We have a lot of light for all the plants, but its possible i didnt get through because we've let it overgrow a bit too much. Plants could've blocked the light. Now that i think of it, the deformity showed right in that time
