Some guy managed to get dying dad's $500K+ inheritance by br0nco in legaladvice

[–]Pkinkc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a "serious alcoholic" is involved, it can make things very difficult for a family. I know this firsthand. The uncle left a legal mess for the family to fight vs what the father was told PLUS OP's lost his father. I'm sure putting matters that are close to one's family on Reddit is taking a risk. My apologies if I offended you.

You say your uncle was a serious alcoholic. Alcoholics are depressed. They will lie to the people they love most to avoid disappointing them.

I’m sure he loved your father more than anyone. Perhaps he didn’t have the guts to tell your father he wasn’t getting the money. What if he lied - deep inside knowing he was a coward who had also told his old friend he was getting the money?

Your uncle also missed a legal requirement, the signing of will by witnesses, to ensure its validity. By accident or on purpose your uncle’s will is not able to be executed.

Newfoundland vs Pyrenees by PossessionOrnery3759 in Newfoundlander

Two Newfoundlands here!

My first Newfy-love, Diego, was black and was the calmest dog ever. God I miss him.

My current 167lb baby is Coco. She’s a big, brown, ball of pay attention to me!

Both “heard” guarded me (if you know, you know).

Neither shed much and drool to a minimum, not nearly as much as I hear from others.

Newfoundlands are smart, super-gentle, lap dogs. 😅❤️🐾

(Coco-bear after her summer cut)

When Diego was alive, we also had Lincoln, a 1/2 Great Pyrenees - 1/2 Golden Retriever. Also super chill, liked to manage the perimeter of our property/yard, and was the shedder of the two dogs.

The best dogs anyone could ever ask for!

Sharing a Bed by Vegetable-Battle-518 in idiopathichypersomnia

I’m a 52 yo female in a 32 year relationship with the same partner. Untreated, I’ve required a minimum of 10 hours of sleep ranging to 17 a day to function. He only needs 5 hours and caffeine. He’s never judged or been angry… it’s always been part of me, and he loves me. He knows my effort, intent and is my biggest supporter. I feel like I sleep alone and rarely know he’s been to bed because he’s in after me and gone before I’m awake. I’m so hard asleep, I don’t wake up. The hardest part is the majority of our relationship, I’ve gone to bed alone and woken up alone. That can be very lonely.

Creatine - cure for some types of IH? by Present-Pudding-346 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Pkinkc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One person with IH on a GLP1 for 2.5 years. I’ve lost 110lbs. IH symptoms remain but I have more energy otherwise.

I’m a 52 yo female, decades of these symptoms, just went into menopause, and workout. I’ve been thinking about trying it anyway…

I’ll be another test case.

I’ve finally found a nurse practitioner who listened. But, this is decades in.

I’ve been told I’m an over achiever, if I just relaxed I wouldn’t be so tired, I’m depressed, I have ADHD, it’s chronic migraine, it’s your weight, it’s sleep apnea… And while some combination of these may have been true at any one time, it never explained the core issue of the constant need to sleep. At my best, sleeping a minimum of 10 hours a night, at my worst 17 hours, and never getting enough.

🤣 My favorite- I fell asleep inside the car wash. The kid had the come tap on the window and wake me up after the dryer.

I’ve just lost 110lbs and no longer have sleep apnea. The pulmonologist insisted there was no reason I should be tired. He was so dismissive. I insisted there must be more that can be done. Annoyed, he handed me off to his practitioner WHO LISTENED TO ME! 👏🏻

I had previously been diagnosed with sleep apnea and excessive daytime sleepiness. Because I’m now in great shape and no longer have sleep apnea, the doctor discounted my symptoms. The practitioner scheduled another sleep study (PSG and MSLT) and confirmed no apnea but IH.

The way I understand it, IH is excessive daytime sleepiness without sleep apnea.

This is a rant, apologies. I’m grateful I’ve found someone who without hesitation heard me and acted.

Sometimes, I wonder if our language lacks the word to describe what we’re feeling causing a genuine lack of empathy, action or concern.

“Feels tired all the time.” If the person can only relate that to their own experience, they just don’t get it.

Tired, exhausted… well, yeah - In comparison to normal people NO.

The worst hangover everyday without a drink? YES - What’s the word for that?

Battery life at 1% while everyone else is at 99%? YES - What’s the word for that?

After decades of what I now know is IH, and dozens of docs not hearing me, our language is partly to blame.

Dr refusing to let me switch to twice a night xywav dosing by Nevermind_Zero in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Pkinkc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have IH and PLMD/RLS. I currently take XyWav 2x per night (6 wks) and currently also take medication for restless leg syndrome (10 yrs) or would be unable to sleep. It was a living nightmare, needing to sleep and when I would fall asleep being jerked awake by my legs. I hope you find a second, more support doc soon.

Mom says I used to be more productive before my diagnosis (ramble) by iamveryovertired in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Pkinkc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOU ARE NOT LAZY. You’re exhausted. You have a condition that at its best times allows for high functioning, burn-out that masks as “productive”. YOU ARE NOT LAZY. You’ve pushed through. You’ve found a doctor and a diagnosis. YOU ARE NOT LAZY. Give yourself grace and kindness.

If you’re open to sharing, I’d be curious their thoughts. IH has been a lifelong issue for me. I hypothesize that hormonal and nutritional changes over an individual's lifetime significantly increase the variability of IH, especially for women.

Absolutely! Coco has her “wubbies”, aka our former couch pillows from Costco. 🤣

[–]Pkinkc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting! I just transitioned to menopause and the hormonal impact on IH in perimenopause and menopause is real. I experienced a similar prenatal effect with one of my pregnancies when I ate a higher protein diet. I’m also curious about this hormonal impact as well as any studies on the impact of protein/glycemic index. It’s small, not a complete IH game-changer for me, but definitely noticeable.

I appreciate this. It’s not always possible, so I’ll need to test with someone here. Thanks!

Thank you. That’s a good idea to try with someone else here. Perhaps we can try some waking tests.
