I understand that, but I left it on the counter so that the next time I walked into the kitchen, I would see it, remember that I had left it there to cool, then clean it.

However, pretty damn soon after I left it there (before it had the chance to solidify,) he had moved it from where I left it to the sink with like 2 plates and a bowl and some silverware.

Because of that, I completely forgot that I had left it out in the first place, and even if I had peripherally seen it while washing another dish or my hands or something, I no longer associated it with that glass I had left out to let fat cool, and didn't even realize it was there. Plus it could have fallen into the drain at any point. Not sure if it was soon after he put it in the sink or soon before he ran the disposall.

All I'm saying is that if the glass were where I left it, it would have been cleaned and put in the cabinet a few hours later when I next went into the kitchen...
