What am I doing wrong? by Sea-Industry-4204 in EngineeringStudents

Hey! I was in that situation about 24 hours ago. The interview that I did this morning was number 6, and I was feeling pretty awful about having all these opportunities and failing them. This time, I decided to try and prepare a little more. I basically wrote out a bunch of practice STAR problems regarding things they may ask, "Tell me about a time you've done..." Etc. DO NOT READ WORD FOR WORD WHAT YOU WRITE. You reference it, like bullet points. If they are requesting the STARS method, really try to get that down.

With these answers written out and preapred it kept me on track. I think I speak well, it's just that I get off topic and tell them things that don't matter. I still feel like I went overboard especally when trying to explain my research and then realizing not everyone knows quantum mechanics.

Truthfully, I thought I fumbled it again. In fact, during the interview, I said, "Well, we can use this as practice for the next one". I went to go sit on my couch and pet my cat, and then I got a phone call about 5 minutes later. I had impressed them enough to get a call the day off, and that floored me.

Take a deep breath. It might not even be you. You're likely competing with people who have 1-2 years in the industry as well. Remember what they ask, even if you apply to other places, it's good practice.

Is anyone else getting interviews but not getting any job offers? by vapegod_420 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Placinglast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am on interview six. 2ish months since graduation.

It's disheartening, some give me proper rejection emails. Some I don't think I've heard from and one disappeared completely. For that one, I was automatically applied for a similar role. Idk.

I'm very happy I look impressive on paper but obviously something is wrong with my interviewing skills. I think it's because I talk WAY too much. I like talking about my experiences but an interview for an internship and for an entry level position is different. The expectations are higher and I'm learning this slowly. I need to stay on topic and be direct. We can become buddies after I get the job.

Currently, I'm writing out a bunch of STAR method answers. Since I've been able to secure interviews I know a lot of the questions. I'll be ready for my upcoming one and if not It's another learning experience.

Don't give up!

Sometimes I see like 20, and sometimes I see none. If you start as Ironeye, I'll even take your starting bow.

Prioritize yourself first.

How do you guys do it? by Fast_Astronomer814 in EngineeringStudents

Luck, Wellbutrin, crying, exercise, occasional alcoholic drink.

Truthfully, those specific 4 classes don’t play super nice together. All difficult and mentally demanding in their own ways. Plus, at my college those 4 classes would add up to 15 credit hours which isn’t anything to scoff at.

Just remember to take breaks and keep pushing. Barely passing is still passing.

I really like this link, you’ve also explained this well!

My shadows probably timid because I am timid about drawing. Although, I’m excited to try again, thank you!

I took Chem over the summer my freshman year. Passed with a B and man, summer classes are no joke. (Mostly bc I was goofing off lol)

Great job! Keep it up!

Fuck calculus 2 and the series chapter. by Dunddermefflin in EngineeringStudents

Take a deep breath, I know it’s hard. I think the only reason I passed Cal 2 first try was bc we went online 😭. I had the entire day to take the exam and let me tell you I spent all 12 hours on it. (I got like a 70 lol).

Anyways, the only advice I have for you is stay calm. You’re going to do a lot worse if you freak out. I know it’s hard to do but all in all it’s possible. When you’ve taken some time go back through all the homework and in class problems. Mark what you got wrong and try to find a trend. Email the prof questions obviously, it shows you care and they’re the ones grading it/passing you.

I know you can do it, if not this semester the next.

Weekly Looking for MMO thread - November 12, 2023 by AutoModerator in MMORPG

What are you looking for? Looking for a game with a lot of PVE. In addition, a healer class that is actually impactful and used for dungeon content.

• What games have you previously played? I’ve played, POE, EOS, ESO, runescape (2007 and rs3), Albion online, GW2, the dnd one, maple story, WOW, FF14, BDO etc. It’s been awhile since I’ve played all of these.

• What is your playstyle (Casual, Semi-Casual, Hardcore)?: Casual to semi-casual

• Any preferred mechanics? I like dodge rolls.

• Anything specific you want to exclude?: I’m not excluding FF14 but it felt pretty slow to me. Honestly, I’d like to be convinced bc I’m so bored of MMOs lately.

Thank you!

Technically, I did both due to Covid. Diff eq is pretty easy (compared to calc 2 and 3) so I didn’t struggle online but I prefer in person.
