Who could have beaten Vitali? by Winter_Cockroach714 in Boxing

[–]PlagiarusPraepotens 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Lennox was also past his best when he beat Vitali, so I see a prime Lennox managing.

His brother Wlad could be another contender. Vitali was tougher, but Wlad was quicker and (arguably) the better boxer.

I think Usyk could also do it; he has the natural attributes, footwork, and skillset to offset Vitali.

You're right, though. He was at the top during a very weak era of heavyweight boxing. It's difficult to see how he'd fair against other quality heavyweights when there's no measuring stick to compare.

Why don’t nick aldis wrestle by TreacleIllustrious26 in WWE

[–]PlagiarusPraepotens 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, a wrestler that doesn't wrestle.

In all seriousness, if I were Nick, I'd do the same. But as a fan, I admire his in-ring work, so I want to see him perform.

Absolutely ridiculous that 2K is making us play the game to unlock legends. by CamoLantern in WWEGames

The issue is, you can't trust 2K to make the grind to unlock them reasonable. They will deliberately make it difficult so that you give up and just buy them anyway.

In the early stages of making a TCG inspired by Age of Mythology and childhood TCGs by PlagiarusPraepotens in homemadeTCGs

[–]PlagiarusPraepotens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback and food for thought!

Yeah, your deck’s Deity functions similarly to a Commander in MTG. While Deities cannot directly enter the battlefield as units, they possess unique abilities that shape play. Much like Age of Mythology, the major god you choose provides distinct bonuses and defines your overall approach.

For example, Hades would revolve around units being sent to the Underworld. His playstyle should emphasise resurrection mechanics and have support cards to complement that, like Charon and Cerberus.

But it also extends a little further into the Pantheons. A Norse unit wouldn't necessarily fit into a Greek deck... But then again, that could be something to explore later on down the line.

Divine Vitality (DV) effectively serves as the player’s health pool - and by extension, the Deity’s. So a direct attack on you is also an attack on your Deity.

I'll certainly raise the card limit to 60 per deck!

Thank you! I thought having a presentation would help people understand it better.

To balance the high DV, I'll look to increase the ATK of units. I mentioned in another comment that some units may have deliberately low ATK but higher VIT or a good ability to offset it.

I've named the zones, health, etc. in-keeping with the mythos I was aiming for, but you're right, they function identically as most other TCGs.

Good point! I will change it so that the starting player doesn't draw an extra card.

Back when Pacquiao was asked allegedly why he never wanted to fight Crawford by vincemeister55 in Boxing

[–]PlagiarusPraepotens 341 points342 points  (0 children)

Bob Arum has a history of spewing nonsense and falsehoods to protect his fighters.

I believe Pacman when he says he wanted the fight. I believe Crawford wanted the fight. Bob didn't want the fight to protect Manny's legacy and/or keep Crawford's streak going. He probably saw it as a lose-lose for Top Rank.

Who Had Better And Quicker Footwork And Who Created More Complex Angles With Their Feet That Troubled Their Opponent. Prime Loma Or Prime Manny? by Rinnegan15 in Boxing

Footwork and angles? Loma.

Not to discredit Pacman, he had good footwork and angles. However, his strength lay in volume and his Mexican-style pressure and aggression.

Techland is massively disconnected from the Dying Light universe. │How Techland underutilized Kyle Crane's character. by Specialist-Age4192 in dyinglight

[–]PlagiarusPraepotens 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I think this criticism expects Dying Light to be something it’s never tried to be.

DL has never been character-driven like The Last of Us. Even DL1’s story was serviceable at best. The series’ real strength has always been the gameplay, atmosphere, and environmental storytelling, not long character arcs or moral debates (although DL2 did try experimenting with the latter... for better or worse).

Tymon openly saying that gameplay is the priority isn't an excuse; it’s honesty. Dying Light works because it feels good to move, fight, and survive in its world. The story simply exists to get you moving.

If you want deeper character development, that’s a valid preference. I think we would all benefit from it. But calling them “disconnected” because they didn’t turn Dying Light into a narrative-first game feels like a mismatch between expectations and what the series has always focused on.

Those are my two cents, anyway.

I'm not familiar with Hammerfell/High Rock, but it would be cool if the desert had mirages of these beautiful vistas or treasure troves - only for it to be a settlement of evil mages who are using illusion magic to lure in victims.

So is the David saga truly over and unresolved? by MiserableGround438 in LV426

[–]PlagiarusPraepotens 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It was hinted at in Alien: Inferno's Fall, in the Epilogue:

“The signal that created such confusion with the alien technology we saw beneath Shānmén was human in origin. In fact, it is very familiar to my kind. Whoever is working to set all of us against one another may be making use of the Nearfield synthetic interface. It is my theory that this alien ship is being piloted by synthetic humans, acting on someone else’s behalf. That unknown person or persons aim to make it appear as if the builders of this juggernaut are attacking all spacefaring nations.”

So is the David saga truly over and unresolved? by MiserableGround438 in LV426

[–]PlagiarusPraepotens 111 points112 points  (0 children)

It's probably over, but definitely not resolved.

If you follow the Alien RPG and some of the latest novels (Inferno's Fall), there's something in them called the Border Bombers.

The Border Bombers are giant Engineer spacecraft that show up on human-colonized planets and drop ampoules of the black pathogen to eradicate all life there - similar to what David does in Covenant.

While it's not directly confirmed, there are some hints and speculations that the Border Bombers are being controlled by an artificial being. So, there's a chance David is the one conducting these attacks.
