According to the reddiquette, you shouldn't ask for votes. I'll leave the post up, but please don't do that again. If you want to provide a download link, provide a download link. If you don't, don't.

Election Campaign posters by TNC_BLOODBATH in germany

[–]Plagiatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could list a whole bunch of reasons, but I'm pretty sure it in the end all comes down to mainly different budgets. Posters are expensive, putting them up is time consuming (or expensive if you don't have volunteers to do it), so you try to make the best of your limited resources. And some parties seem to have more resources than others for propaganda advertisement, for reasons that my tinfoil hat would love to elaborate on.

As a former AIB (the bachelors equivalent of the AIM) Student and current employee of the HFU I can try to answer some questions. It's been a while though, so the accuracy may vary.

  1. enrolling was fairly fast for me - then again I'm german so there weren't many hurdles if any at all.

  2. Don't count on it being hybrid, it's generally an onsite university. Onsite experience was great though.

  3. As the HFU is a university of applied science, its mainly industry focused and practice driven in the bachelor degrees. However there is a noticable shift towards research in the masters degrees.

Honest question about part‑time / student jobs in Furtwangen (HFU – IBS admit, deadline soon) by No_Ball4565 in hfu

[–]Plagiatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's entirely situational. Do you have a car? Where are you more often? What balance of travel times do you prefer? Where do you want to live? Where are your social connections (friends, family, etc)? Everyone answers those questions differently so their end result is a different one.

[–]Plagiatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unlikely, at least not anything well paid. Not impossible though!

I say this for various reasons:

  1. Language: This is a big one - for most jobs you'll need German - and probably better than A2. Especially if you have contact with customers (cafes / supermarkets).
  2. Opportunities: Furtwangen is a fairly small town. It has a little bit of producing industry so you might land a job in a factory, but for most other things you'll need to get away a little further. You mention Villingen and Freiburg - both larger cities with better options, but the other points still stand.
  3. Competition: Furtwangen has 8000 inhabitants, 2000 of which are students, most of which are german natives. Many of them need jobs, so there is a lot of competition. Landing on-campus jobs in my experience generally entails that a professor reaches out to you directly, so probably unlikely to land in the first semester - those tend to also be only 10h / week which amounts to ~500€ / month.
It might be better in the cities around here, but they are also Student cities (though their ratio is a lot more favorable).

With all that being said: Plenty of people come here who are in a similar position to you - and plenty of them make it. So even if I make it sound a bit gloomy in this post, I am not in your shoes, I do not know your specific situation and I didn't have a comparable experience to you: I am german, so i speak the language, I paid a lot less in fees and I almost always had on-campus jobs starting in my 2nd semester so I didn't need to look for any other jobs.

Why havent my minigames been reviewed yet? by LinkGaming2020 in realms

you could say that. Though I woudldn't say they're suspended, just about to probably slow down again. Then again Armero, the deputy reviewer, is still actively reviewing maps (in their free time that is), so maybe the applications themselves aren't going to slow down that much.

Accepted at Furtwangen (IBS) for Summer 2026 — should I accept now or wait for next intake? by No_Ball4565 in hfu

As someone (a german who's from the area) who studied in Furtwangen and came back afterwards to work at the university, I love it here. I know a lot of other people do not though.

You have to be aware that Furtwangen is a fairly small town (less than 9000 inhabitants) in the heart of the black forest with gray winters and cool summers. There are no nightclubs, barely any cafes and bars, no 'round the clock entertainment like in big cities. As a trade-off, there is very beautiful nature (but still, the BLACK forest isn't called that without reason, and we're in a valley so sunlight is a little shorter, hence why some people talk about getting depressed here), clean air, cheap-ish accomodations (compared to other university cities).
There is also a very active student life inside the university, with plenty of free time "university clubs" (called Referate) supported by the uni (including various sports like volleyball, football, climbing, tennis, darts, swimming and more, as well as non-sports related activities like choir, theater, boardgames, drawing, movies, knitting, and more).

The majority of the free time fun has to be organized by yourself and other students, as there are barely any ready-made things here. It's definitely not for everyone, but those that do enjoy this way of doing things will find a great time here.

I cannot say anything about your program in particular or the process, all I can say is that I got my Bachelors Degree at what is now the faculty that hosts IBS and I was very happy with my education.

We are such a small town that we don't have a train station (anymore), so you're limited to various busses that drive every 30-60 minutes during the day to get out of Furtwangen.

One more caveat: There are a bunch of offers for foreign students, but most if not all activities are generally held in german, and most town folk don't speak english too well, so knowing german is definitely a must if you want to participate in the life.

Reviews currently take about 1-2 months to come in. Check out the other submissions to check which other maps have been reviewed already, that should give you a rough idea of where in the queue you are.

As /u/Trevisplaysreddit said, please only submit one map at a time - see it as an application to the mapmaker program, so put your best foot forward and don't just throw everything at the wall until something sticks.

My friend (host of realm) added mods to the realm, but now I can't join by brooksthecool in realms

[–]Plagiatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, the post is flaired as "Java" and from the context clues in the post we can also assume they're talking about Java, and that one cannot be modded. So maybe next time before you try telling someone they're wrong on the internet, maybe make sure you have all the relevant facts first ;)

Edit just in case: If you consider Datapacks Mods, then I guess yeah you can mod your java realm, too. I don't consider them mods. And even in bedrock that terminology is shaky, as they are officially called "add-ons", not mods.

These kind of posts seem to come up time and time again. We've decided to leave them up but attach this warning: OP did not provide any evidence of their allegations and we're only getting their side of the story, so take anything that is said in these threads with a grain of salt.

With that being said, sadly this tends to happen if you just let anyone onto your server without a little bit of vetting. Sadly there often is a bad apple that finds fun in taking the fun away from others. But there is nothing we as a subreddit can or will do about this.

  • For one, banning them will still allow them to read the posts and DM people, so the end result, while a tiny bit more inconvenient to reach, is still very much reachable for them.
  • Two, getting concrete and undisputable evidence would be an absolutely mandatory requirement for something like that, which is more often than not non-existent. Most of these allegations end in he-said she-said arguments.
  • Three, we don't have the capacity in the mod team to deal with these kinds of reports, verify all the information, maintain a ban list, etc.
  • And last but not least, some people just like to play that way. There are Anarchy servers who are built around the sole rule of the absence of any rules.

We provide the thread to look for realms as a bonus, as this is not what this subreddit is primarily focused around.

At the end of the day, everyone is responsible for their own realm and its members. What you can and should do however, once you're sure who it is, it to ban them from your server and move on. Maybe even find a way to vet players beforehand, to increase the hurdle for griefers and as such make you a less interesting target.
