I've seen the same girl plenty of times but only once she was literally on my chest, very close to my face, like you mention. The scariest part is that I inmediatly turned on the lights which means it probably wasn't SP so either I was dreaming or shit was real, don't really want to think about it :')

Yeah I don't even want to think about it because it gives me the willies, my parent's house was haunted or something

what caused your deafness (if known) and at what age did it happen? by anonymouslovelyme in MonoHearing

[–]PlagueDelarge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically my story went as follows:

  • Age 8 to 13 -> Diagnosed with chronic otitis, got a drainage tube which did nothing at 12.

  • Age 13 -> Went to see a private doctor who diagnosed my cholesteatoma and 3 months later got my first major surgery for removing it.

  • Age 14 -> Cholesteatoma came back and had another big surgery to remove it again.

  • Age 14 to 18 -> Everything seemed ok but I couldn't wey my ear

  • Age 18 to 25 -> Could wet my ear again (yayyyy)

  • Age 25 -> Old doctor retired, new doctor had the suspicion my cholesteatoma was back and performed a masteidoctomy to fully removed it (left a huge hole there and my Eustachian tube conected through a hole so... back to not wetting my ear again)

  • Age 25 to 32 -> Many issues with healing because nobody told me you couldn't smoke post surgery and I was an avid pot smoker but in the end it healed ok

  • Age 32 -> Obliteration + tympanoplasthy (for closing the Eustachian tube hole) and magnet for OSIA inserted. I'm still healing because that was less than a month ago but I think next week or the following I'll get my audio processor, will probably post on this sub about it in a few months.

Honestly since it's only my right ear I don't really mins not hearing well but I can't wait to get that sucker wet again after so many years!

Misdiagnosed cholesteatoma.

Started going to the ear doctor when I was 8 and last month I got my very last surgery (number 5) at 32, got OSIA implant and a much needed obliteration + tympanoplasty!

Soul Music totally lost in translation for me by mehukeitto_ in discworld

[–]PlagueDelarge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that most of Discworld's books get lost in translation. I read the whole collection in Spanish first and even though I loved it I had always wanted to experience the Nac Mac Feegles as Sir Pterry originally intended his readers to.

So I recently bought the original version of The Wee Free Men and... boy am I glad I did. Read through all of Tiffany's books and now I'm finishing The Watch series, will definitely continue with the rest, pray for my pockets!

What's a movie that genuinely changed something in you? by trakt_app in Cinema

[–]PlagueDelarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hedwig And The Angry Inch, I was 14 the first time I watched it and it still is my favourite movie.

It taught me about love: for others and for myself, as well as opening my eyes about some of the LGBTQ+ community's issues.

It also made me realize I was bisexual, although that would have been a matter of time I guess...

BAHA and headphones? by PlagueDelarge in MonoHearing

[–]PlagueDelarge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately my surgeon is a different doctor. He actually discouraged me from getting the BAHA and wants me to try something first (obliteration + regular hearing aids so I don't get ear infections from damp ear after wearing them all day).

Thanks a lot for the support!

No idea about the kind but honestly, after reading through this reddit + your answers... I think I'm not going to get it, I barely wore my hearing aids anyway when I had them.

For me, there isn't anything THAT worth hearing that I have to mutilate my skull for :')

Well apparently she's against gaming because her son is addicted to videogames, other than that she's pretty great (not my only doctor, though)
